LG has just officially announced their GT540 handset as the Optimus. This handset will be released on May 1st in the UK and it'll be running Android -- version still officially unknown (version 2.1 according to what we heard two weeks ago). We've known about this handset for a while so none of the spec should surprise you. It's packing a 3-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 3MP camera, a microSD card slot, social integration, Bluetooth 2.1 support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1,500 mAh battery, DivX / XviD support, and access to the Android Market. It'll be available in black, white, silver, and pink.
