A company called AUO is planning to announce a couple of new TV sets in the very near future, at FPD International 2009. They plan on unveiling: a 14-inch OLED TV with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 16 million colours, a couple of 3D TVs ranging from 8 to 65-inches that you won't need 3D glasses for! It's not exactly a first, but it's still interesting.
AUO also plans to unveil an ultra-wide HDTV set that has a 58-inch display with a 2,560 x 1,080 resolution (that's a 2.35:1 aspect ratio). They also plan to show off a 65-inch HDTV set that is just 7.9mm thin that, supposedly, has a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Excited? I am!
