HTC Zeta Rumoured To Feature Quad-Core 2.5GHz CPU and Android 4.0

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Just when you thought the dual-core 1.5GHz CPU and the upcoming Tegra 3 CPU were fast here comes a new rumour. Engadget has gotten an exclusive rumour dubbed the HTC "Zeta". Apparently, this super-superphone will feature an upcoming and obvious next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core APQ8064 2.5GHz CPU which just sounds absolutely insane. Other specs reportedly include a 4.5-inch 720p display, 32GB of storage, Beats Audio, Bluetooth 4.0 / WiFi support, an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, a 9.8mm thin body that weighs 146 grams, a 1,830mAh battery, and Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" with the Sense UI. The body actually looks very HTC-like but keep in mind that it's just a rendering right now.

Now, they say it'll have ICS at launch but the buttons are still present so hopefully those will disappear before the launch that should be coming sometime in 2012. That Galaxy Nexus isn't looking like a beast anymore.

Specs for this one reportedly include: a dual-core TI OMAP 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an 8MP camera, a front-facing 2MP camera, and a body that's thinner than the iPhone 4 / 4S. Coming from DigiTimes is word that HTC is prepping a quad-core tablet and smartphone for early 2012. Apparently, they could be unveiling both at MWC 2012, which kicks off on February 27th. They should both be running the Android OS and it could have Nvidia's Tegra 3 chip inside of them - or possibly even Qualcomm's. The tablet is completely unknown right now but the smartphone could be the HTC "Edge" and the company is planning to release another Android smartphone which could turn out to be the "Ville". I'm definitely looking forward to this announcement!

Coming from MeizuMe is more photos of the upcoming Meizu MX. This smartphone should be headed to China soon with the Android OS and possibly even a quad-core CPU which seems too good to be true. The back is obviously plastic and also sports a rear-facing camera. Specifics are unknown right now so we'll just have to keep on waiting for this one to get officially official.

PocketNow has just got some pretty good information. Apparently, the LG Optimus LTE that was announced in Korea will be hitting AT&T in the US. Furthermore, it's rumoured to be called the Nitro HD and will take advantage of the carrier's small, but fast, 4G (LTE) network. This smartphone will also be one of the best on the market with a 4.5-inch 1,280 x 720 resolution display, a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, and an 8MP camera. It'll be initially available with Android "Gingerbread" but it'll hopefully get a quick update to Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich".
