Asus South Africa Says Eee Slate and Eee Transformer Devices Are Being Tested

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Asus South Africa just tweeted something that you should look forward to seeing in the future. They have just mentioned that their company is currently working on and testing out the Eee Slate and Eee Trasformer. Judging by the names, the Eee Slate will be a tablet, while the Eee Transformer could be something with a touchscreen display and a removable screen / dock. It could very well be something like the Dell Inspiron Duo or the Lenovo IdeaPad U1. Of course, details should be unveiled soon, maybe we'll even see them at CES 2011 if we're lucky enough. Check out the tweet here.

Motorola's "Honeycomb" Tablet Leaks In Taiwan, Specs Included

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Someone from Mobile01 is claiming that they have got their hands on a Motorola "Honeycomb" powered tablet and wasn't shy showing it off. This guy from Taiwan claims that there'll be 7 and 10-inch models of this tablet from Motorola and Rubin may have had the larger model when he showed up at D: Dive Into Mobile earlier this week. Specs for this tablet, according to this Taiwanese guy, are a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a dual-core Nvidia Tegra II T20 chip, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a gyroscope, a microSD card slot, and 32GB of internal storage.

According to this guy, this tablet will be available in UMTS, CDMA, and even LTE models which sounds great to me. This tablet does have 3D live wallpaper in check but the OS itself does need a bit of work right now. Of course, it's not final so I'm pretty confident Google will have everything ready for launch day.

New Dell Latitude Notebooks Leak Out, All Packing New Intel "Sandy Bridge" CPUs

Labels: , ,

Two new Dell Latitude notebooks have just poked their head out today. This will be the 14-inch Latitude E6420 and 15.6-inch E6520 notebooks which will be packing Intel's new "Sandy Bridge" line-up of CPUs along with a new 9-cell battery which has 97Whr tech. Other specs include USB 2.0 / 3.0 ports, a 3.2MP webcam, a possible touchscreen display, and 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G support.

That's not all though. Apparently the company plans to refresh their Precision notebooks as well. This includes the 15.6-inch M4600 and the 17.3-inch M6600. The smaller model is said to feature an AMD FirePro M5950, while the larger one will have Nvidia Quadro 1000M / 2000M options. As usual, they'll both be highly customizable so you'll be able to get something even more powerful inside if that's what you desire. CPUs aren't mentioned yet but they'll likely be Intel's upcoming "Sandy Bridge" ones. We'll be seeing these all at CES 2011.

Acer Iconia Launching On January 28th In Spain For €1,499

Labels: , , ,

The Acer Iconia was announced a few weeks ago and it's a notebook with two 14-inch displays. According to Acer Spain, this notebook will be available starting on January 28th for a whopping €1,499 ($1,987 USD). This is just about twice as much as the dual-screen Toshiba Libretto that launched a few months ago but Acer's offering is much more powerful so it may make a bit of sense. Beneath the large dual multitouch displays, you get up to 4GB of RAM, up to a 750GB HDD, optional 3G support, a USB 3.0 port, and an Intel Core i5 CPU. Is it worth it for you?

Apple's Next iPad Will Have Dual Cameras and Sharper (More Resolution) Display

Labels: , , , ,

A bunch of new sources have just mentioned that Apple's next iPad will indeed have a rear and front-facing camera. At this point, we already know that Apple has opted to go with LCD displays on their iPad because of the cost and because there could be shortages. Apparently though, the next iPad will feature a much higher resolution than the current model but it's unknown if it'll be a Retina display - which would bring it to a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution. This should be announced in about six weeks with a launch a few weeks after that so it's really not that far away.
