Huawei Ideos X5 and X6 Now Official, Both Packing Android "Froyo"

Labels: , , , , , ,

We saw them in late October and Huawei has officially announced both of them in Australia. The first one is the Huawei Ideos X5 which features a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen display, GPS, WiFi / Bluetooth support, HSPA connectivity, a 5MP camera, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". The other one is the Ideos X6 which is pictured above. This handset features a 4.1-inch WVGA display, HSPA connectivity, WiFi / Bluetooth support, GPS, an HDMI port, a 1GHz CPU, Dolby Mobile surround sound, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". Yes, both the spec sheets are similar but the X6 does have the larger display.

The company failed to announced the price or release dates for either of these phones so we'll be waiting a little bit longer for those important pieces of information.

Labels: , , ,

As expected, Bell has released their first rugged HSPA+ capable handset and it's the Samsung Rugby II. This flip phone will be able to withstand some water and dust, so it's fairly tough. This is available right now for $99.95 on a 3-year contract, $249.95 on a 2-year contract, $274.95 on a 1-year contract, and $299.95 contract-free. Head over to the link below if you want to check it out.

Sony's PlayStation Phone (Zeus Z1) Gets Benchmarked On Video, Clearly Still a Prototype

Labels: , , , , ,

Another video of the PlayStation Phone (Zeus Z1) has just made its way on Engadget and this time its shows off some oh-so-important benchmarks. On Qualcomm's Neocore benchmark app, the PlayStation Phone pumped out 24.4fps which is significantly less than the Nexus S which scored 55.6fps. Of course, the software / hardware for this is still in prototype form so expect everything to be ironed out for the launch date which is still unknown. This definitely looks like it'll be a great device from Sony but I'm really wondering how the support for games will work because the Android Market doesn't have too many great games.

Lenovo Reveals IdeaPad Y460p, Y560p, and IdeaCentre K330; Intel "Sandy Bridge" CPUs On Board

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Lenovo has just outlined new notebooks and a new desktop PC that they'll be launching in early 2011. The first two are notebooks which I'll talk about first. There'll be the IdeaPad Y460p and the Y560p which will feature Intel's next-gen Core i7 "Sandy Bridge" CPUs, up to a 750GB HDD, up to 8GB of RAM, and an option for Lenovo's RapidDrive technology which will put the OS on a 32GB SSD so that it'll boot up much quicker. Of course, they'll be sporting 14 and 15.6-inch displays, respectively.

Last, but not least, is for the desktop PC fans out there. Lenovo will be launching the IdeaCentre K330 in early 2011 too. This one will pack Core i7 CPU options, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, twin RAID-0 HDD storage options (up to 4TB), optional Blu-ray drive, and an optional TV tuner if you're interested.

We'll likely see all three of these products at CES 2011 since the notebooks are set to be available on January 11th. The desktop should be available a little bit later on in early 2011 as well. The notebooks should be starting at $849 while the desktop will start at $699.

Case For the Next iPad Leaks? Has a Camera Hole

Labels: , , , ,

A new iPad case has leaked from a Chinese manufacturer, of course. This one looks like it's for the next iPad from Apple though because you can clearly make out that the top left corner of it has a hole for a rear-facing camera. The weird part about this supposed case is that it actually doesn't have room for a second dock connector that Apple has patented a few times before - rumoured to have portrait and landscape options. Nothing else is known right now but the bottom left corner could be for a USB port or a microSD card slot but I doubt it.

Bell Releases the BlackBerry Style 9670 For $49.95 On a 3-Year

Labels: , , , , ,

Right on cue, Bell in Canada has just released the BlackBerry Style 9670 from RIM. Unfortunately, this is still packing CDMA connectivity so you won't be able to take advantage of the carrier's HSPA+ network. The handset itself features a 2-inch external display, a 2.7-inch internal display, a QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, GPS, a microSD card slot, and OS 6.0 with the WebKit browser.

This is available on Bell for $49.95 on a 3-year contract, $349.95 on a 2-year contract, $374.95 on a 1-year contract, and $399.95 contract-free. The 3-year price seems decent but the others are just outrageous for something like this.
