Acer's Dual-Screen 15-Inch Multitouch Notebook Leaks Out, Still A Prototype

Labels: , , ,

Tech Review Source has just gotten a nice leak and this one's coming from the Acer camp. The device you see above is Acer's dual-screen laptop and it's actually sporting two multitouch 15-inch displays. Inside you'll apparently find a Core i5 2.67GHz CPU but apparently the prototype is still buggy and slow. I doubt this will be hitting the market this year if that's the case, but it'll likely only be for the rich people out there. Toshiba's Libretto W100 dual-screen device costed over $1,000 when it hit the market and that was only sporting dual 7-inch multitouch displays and a much slower CPU. So yeah...

Apple Releasing Another iPad For the Holiday Season? This Time With a Camera For FaceTime

Labels: , , ,

This rumour has been going around for a while now but it's surfaced again. According to Apple Insider, Apple will be launching another iPad model just in time for the holiday season. This model - if true - should also sport a front-facing camera at the very least for FaceTime. Looks like whoever bought an iPad earlier this year is basically screwed, unless you don't really care for FaceTime.

Samsung Holding New York Event For the Galaxy Tab On September 16th, Hitting Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint?

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

The WSJ has just announced a pretty juicy rumour. Apparently, Samsung will be holding an event on September 16th in New York and that's where they'll be announcing which carriers will be getting the Android 2.2 based Galaxy Tab. The website states that three carriers will be getting it: Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. The only one that should be a bit surprising is that the tablet will be hitting AT&T so it'll be a direct competitor to the already popular Apple iPad. Of course, none of this is confirmed right now so we'll just have to wait and see what happens on Thursday. The price is unknown but in Europe it's expensive so let's hope that it gets subsidized a whole lot.

MSI CR620 Notebook Gets Announced, GT663 Gets Spotted In the Wild

Labels: , , ,

Two MSI notebooks have just been introduced and the first one is the CR420. This is the lower end of the two since the other notebook is just a beast. Anyways, let's get back on track. The MSI CR420 was announced today and it features a 14-inch display, Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 250GB / 320GB / 500GB HDD options, a 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 support, integrated Intel HD graphics, HDMI / VGA outputs, WiFi b/g/n support, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA / USB port, a 6-cell battery, and a 4-in-1 card reader. Take a breather because it has another important feature: Intel's Wireless Display aka WiDi support. That's pretty awesome in itself, you'll be able to stream content wirelessly to your HDTV if you purchase an adapter box that connect via HDMI (it'll do all the work). As usual, the price and release date is still unknown.

The second notebook has been spotted in the wild (at a Nvidia event in London) and it's the GT663 which is of the gaming variety. This one features a larger 15.6-inch display (1,920 x 1,080 resolution), Intel Core i5 / i7 CPU options, Nvidia GeForce GT460M graphics, up to 12GB of DDR3 RAM, up to two 500GB HDDs, a possible Blu-ray drive, and Dynaudio audio support. This notebook will reportedly be announced on October 1st and will be available later on in October. The i5 model should start at £899 ($1,380 USD) while the i7 model will be around £1,699 ($2,608 USD) - they're definitely not for those on a budget.
