HP Mini 110 Netbook Gets Pictured Again at the FCC With Flush Battery

Labels: , , ,

It's not exactly the biggest news of the day, but some more photos have just been spotted of the HP Mini 110 netbook. These pictures both show the netbook with a battery that's flush with the body. This is great news because some people prefer that the battery doesn't stick out.

Sprint Taking Pre-Orders For the HTC EVO 4G Later This Month, Training Starting Soon Too?

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Sprint is set to launch the HTC EVO 4G soon and apparently the pre-orders for the handset could actually start later this month (May) at Radio Shack. An anonymous tipster over at Phandroid snapped a picture of Radio Shack's inventory system and this is hinting that Sprint will be releasing the handset sometime in the first half of June.

Don't forget that if you win the event that Sprint is holding, you should be getting your EVO 4G in the middle of this month as well. Another tipster mentioned that the training for the EVO 4G will start at around the 24th of this month. Good news for everyone!

Nokia To Launch a Windows Phone In the Future? Weird Stuff

Labels: , ,

What's this? Times Online has just mentioned that Nokia is working on a Windows Phone. This is pretty awkward seeing how Nokia usually only relies on their own OS. Of course, this could just be a mistake because "a leading mobile phone manufacturer" could always be another company like LG, Samsung, Motorola, or Sony Ericsson. Let's just see what happens in the future.

Next iPhone Likely To Record 720p HD Video

Labels: , , ,

We already know that Apple set to launch their next iPhone this year and it'll likely be called the iPhone HD. If this is the case it'll be because it'll record 720p HD video - using the back 5MP camera. Of course, this won't be the first handset to do it but it's definitely a great addition. I believe the front-facing camera will be more revolutionary than the 720p video snapper on the back. The evidence was found below in the latest iPhone SDK.

Samsung (S8500) Wave Likely Hitting North America In the Future

Labels: , , , , , , ,

We already know that the Samsung (S8500) Wave will be hitting Europe in the near future, but what about us in North America. The good news is that the handset could be hitting our region in the future as well, seeing how the Bluetooth SIG has just approved the GT-S8500R and the GT-S8500M which mentions that it'll get launched in North America. Now we play the waiting game.

Intel Brags About 10 Day Battery Life On Phones, Quake 3 At 100fps; MeeGo Handset Sometime This Year

Labels: , , ,

Intel has announced a bunch of exciting things this morning. The first thing they mentioned is that their Moorestown platform aka the Atom Z6xx Series is capable of powering handsets for up to 10 days of standby time, which is somewhat impressive. This CPU will support both MeeGo and Android handsets, so it could hit a phone near you soon. Other important points is that the handsets running on these chips will last 4 hours watching 1080p HD video, 5 hours of browsing, and 6 hours when talking over a 3G network. At this event, Intel also showed off one of their prototype phones running on the Moorestown CPU. It was able to play Quake 3 at an impressive 100fps - there's a picture below but that doesn't do any justice.

The last thing Intel mentioned is that they're promising that the first handset running MeeGo will be available before Christmas aka the end of the year. We don't know who will be producing this handset, but it'll likely be Nokia.

LG Launches a Website For the C710 Ally, Some Specs Mentioned

Labels: , , , , ,

Even though a commercial is airing on the TV for the LG C710 Ally just about nothing has been confirmed about the handset. That is, until now. LG has just put up a site dedicated to this handset and they've trickled out a bit of information. Of course we already know that it'll be running Android 2.1 and it clearly rocks a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other specs are said to be a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera on the back, and a microSD card slot. Check it out on LG's website here.

They'll both be available online tomorrow for $49.99 and $99.99, respectively, on a 2-year contract and then they'll be hitting stores on May 13th. It's priced a bit higher than I expected but it'll still a fairly good price for these two handsets.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro To Get Android 2.1 Upgrade In Q4

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Sadly, all of Sony Ericsson's Android phones are running on Android 1.6. That's bad news because Android 2.1 has been out for a while now and it's a huge upgrade over version 1.6. Sony Ericsson has just announced that their XPERIA X10, X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro will be getting the version 2.1 upgrade sometime in Q4 of this year. Again, this will likely be behind because Android 2.2 will probably already be available.

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Someone over at Zedomax got their hands on a prototype tablet running Android. Apparently, this tablet was able to run both Adobe Air and Flash "flawlessly". The sad part about this oh-so-exciting news is that we have no solid details on whatever this tablet is. Of course, you can check out two videos below to see exactly what they're talking about. Hopefully we'll see this at some event in the future like, you know, Computex.

HP Mini 210 Gets 3D Colour Upgrade, Mini 110 Now Has 6-Cell 8 Hour Battery Standard

Labels: , , ,

HP has just refreshed their Mini 210 and Mini 110 netbooks. The Mini 210 has got what they're calling a 3D preppy pink colour. Somehow, this new design "creates a multi-layer effect with shadows; HP also brings a plaid imprint to the trackpad." This new colour is definitely targeted for the females. The Mini 110 netbook, on the other hand, now features the 6-cell battery as a standard and you'll apparently get 8 hours of life from it. These are both set to hit the HP website on June 15th. The Mini 110 will cost you $280, while the 210 will be going for $355.

Canada's Virgin Mobile To Launch the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (9100) and the LG Rumor Touch, New Plans On the Way

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Canada's Virgin Mobile has just confirmed - via Twitter - that they'll be launching the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (9100). We already know that the three major carriers will get this smartphone from RIM so it's good news that Virgin will be getting it as well. Unfortunately, we don't know what it will be priced at yet.

That's not all from Virgin. Apparently, they're set to launch three new phones: the Loft for $69.99, the LG Rumor Touch for $149.99 and the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $299.99. The Curve 8530 isn't new to their line-up so I don't really get it. Along with this news they're set to announce a new Beyond Talk plan which will be priced at $25 for 300 minutes, $40 for 1,200 minutes, and $60 for unlimited minutes. Unfortunately, if you own a BlackBerry you'll have to tack on an extra $10.

HP Updates Their Pavilion Line-Up; AMD / Intel CPUs and Touchscreens Coming On May 19th

Labels: , , , , , ,

HP hasn't stopped just yet. They updated their 14.5-inch Pavilion 15.6-inch dv5, dv6, and 17.3-inch dv7 (above) notebooks. They all have a new aluminum body which looks quite sexy and it's accompanied with AMD's new dual and quad-core CPU options - the dual-core 2.8GHz Phenom II N620 for example. The dv5 has support for up to 1TB of HDD storage, but there's nothing else too exciting in there. The dv6 sports a touchscreen display and packs up to 1TB of HDD storage, while the dv7 has up to 2TB of HDD Storage and discrete ATI Radeon graphics that support Crossfire and "Beats-processed audio that includes a subwoofer." This Pavilion refresh will come on May 19th and the dv5 and dv6 notebooks will be going for $650, the dv7 will cost you $800.

They didn't stop there. They've updated their 14-inch Pavilion dm4 as well and it now has support for full-power Intel CPUs as well as up to a 640GB HDD, and discrete ATI Mobility Radeon graphics. HP decided to rip out the optical drive so it's now under an inch thick and weighs 4.4 pounds. This one will cost you $730 and will also be available on the 19th.

HP Announces Slew Of ProBook Notebooks, Sporting New Phenom II Or Core 2010 CPU Options

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

HP has kept the ball rolling by introducing their new ProBook notebooks which all sport new Phenom II CPUs from AMD. Like the Acer Aspire models from earlier today, these sport the X3 / X4 CPUs. The 14-inch 6455b (pictured above) and the 15.6-inch 6555b can be configured to run on the newer chips or the older Athlon II and Turion II CPUs as well. They both sport ATI Radeon HD 4250 or the newer Radeon HD 540V graphics. That's not all though, the 14-inch 6450b and 15.6-inch 6550b ProBook notebooks were also announced and they're highly customizable. They're both sporting dual-core Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options. The AMD-based notebooks will start at $779 while the Intel based ones will start at $849. The larger 15.6-inch models are expected in June.

Later this month, HP will release the 13.3-inch 4325s, 14-inch 4425s, and 15.6-inch 4525s notebooks. They all sport Athlon II / Turion II / Phenom II CPU options along with your choice of ATI Radeon HD 530V or the faster ATI HD 5250 graphics. These will start at $629.

Last, but not least, is the 14-inch 425 and the 15.6-inch 625 notebooks. They both have Phenom II CPU options, but they aren't as highly customizable as all of the other previously mentioned notebooks. These are directed at people on a budget and it'll be available this June for a starting price of $549.

Rogers To Launch the Nokia N97 Mini In June For $99.99

Labels: , , ,

We already know that Canada's Rogers will be getting the Nokia N97 Mini sometime in the future. Well, the latest rumour states that it'll be launching for $99.99 on a 2-year contract and it's actually been delayed. It was rumoured that this handset would be available in May, but apparently it's been pushed back to mid-June which is bad news for Nokia. The next iPhone should be launching in June.

HP Announces the Envy 14 and Envy 17, Complete With i5 / i7 CPU Options

Labels: , , ,

HP has kicked off this morning by officially announcing their Envy 14 and Envy 17 notebooks - of course, they still look like MacBook Pro clones. Thankfully, HP has decided to put in optical drives in both notebooks. Engadget points out that the trackpad has improved since the last Envy notebooks. The Envy 17 notebook has an ATI Radeon HD 5000 GPU which supports Eyefinity which can support a bunch of external displays - this is a first in the entire industry. Other specs include Core i5 / i7 CPU options, up to 2TB of HDD storage, USB 3.0 ports, and Windows 7. This one will be priced at $1,399 and it should be available starting on May 19th.

The Envy 14 has an awkward but unique 14.5-inch display and it's apparently 75% brighter than other 14-inch displays out there. It has Core i5 / i7 CPU options, discrete ATI graphics, and the base model will be priced at $999. This will be available starting on June 27th so it's a longer wait than the Envy 17.

Sadly, these notebooks are both missing Nvidia's Optimus technology, which for me is a huge let down.

It's a fairly good desktop replacement, but it doesn't appear to have any Core 2010 CPU options so that's definitely a let down. Price and release date is still TBA.
