Verizon Planning To Throw the HTC Droid Eris and the BlackBerry Tour In the Trash

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

If you want to get the BlackBerry Tour (9630) or the HTC Droid Eris, you should probably do it soon. Apparently, they're looking to discontinue the Tour this June and the Droid Eris will be gone in May (next month). The Tour should get replaced by the Bold / Tour 9650 that we've been hearing so much about, but I don't know about the Droid Eris. The HTC Incredible is on the way soon, so I guess they're just trying to make way for that phone - maybe they'll drop the price of the DROID at the same time. Let's see what takes place.

Labels: , , , , ,

A new nettop has just been spotted on Asus' own site (here), the Eee Box EB1007. It's not that great, since it doesn't appear to be packing Nvidia's Ion graphics. It does, however, feature an Intel Atom D410 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, WiFi b/g/n, six USB 2.0 ports, an SDHC card slot, and a bunch of ports including an eSATA. At the top of the product page it says that "ASUS recommends Windows 7" but they decided to put Windows XP on this nettop anyway. The price and release date is still TBA right now.

BenQ Staying Away From the Tablet Market, Launching Coloured E-Book Reader Instead

Labels: ,

BenQ has just announced that they won't bother competing with the iPad in the tablet market. That's because they've decided to launch a coloured e-book reader in the future. We don't know when this will hit the market, but it'll be a coloured model of the nReader above. The battery will reportedly last weeks compared to the iPad's projected 10 hours, but the iPad will definitely do a lot more than this BenQ e-book reader. The price will have to be much lower than $499 (the entry price for the iPad) to sell a significant amount.

Interested in an e-book reader with a standard black and white e-ink display? Look no further than Viewsonic who have just released the VEB 620 and the VEB 625. They both sport 6-inch displays, 2GB of internal storage, an accelerometer, an SD card slot, and mp3 functionality. The battery life on the VEB 620 will last 8,000 page turns and the VEB 625 will last 6,200 page turns.

Both of these e-book readers are on sale somewhere in Europe for £175 ($269 USD) and £205 ($315 USD).
