HP Slate To Launch For $549? Specs Compared To the iPad

This new chart (above) clearly shows off the differences between the HP Slate and the Apple iPad. The chart is pretty self-explanatory, and it spills out all of the specs of the HP Slate. It's rumoured to be launching at $549, so it's only the 16GB WiFi-only iPad that can compete with the price. The $549 model will reportedly feature an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz CPU, integrated Intel UMA graphics, 32GB of flash storage, 1GB of RAM, an SDHC card slot, a USB 2.0 port, two cameras (front-facing and on the back), a SIM card slot, audio jacks, an HDMI output, and a 5-hour battery life. The more expensive $599 model will feature 64GB of flash storage. Now that we know the specs let's see how it works in the real world.

Microsoft's Project Pink To Debut On April 12th

It's been unofficially confirmed that Project Pink will be making a debut at Microsoft's event on April 12th next week. Both the Pure and the Tutrtle will be at the show and it's believed that these handsets will be launching on Verizon "within the month." The OS isn't known right now, but they're saying that it'll definitely have social integration and could be kind of like an intro to the upcoming Windows Phone 7 mobile OS.

Asus Releases the U30jc Notebook With Core i3 and Nvidia Optimus For $899

Asus has just announced and released the U30jc notebook. This notebook comes packed with a 13.3-inch LED display (1,366 x 768 resolution), a chiclet keyboard, an aluminum body, and Nvidia Optimus graphics which automatically switches between the integrated Intel graphics and the discrete Nvidia GeForce G310M graphics. Along with that, it also has an Intel Core i3-350M 2.26GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, WiFi b/g/n, a 320GB HDD, an optical drive, VGA / HDMI ports, an integrated 0.3MP webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Apparently, this notebook can last for up to 9.5 hours with its 8-cell battery. Check it out on Amazon here for $899.

Canada's Rogers Now Taking Pre-Orders On the XPERIA X10, Launch On April 15th

Best Buy started taking pre-orders for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 on the weekend and now Rogers is taking them as well. Rogers (here) now has this handset available for pre-order and they've confirmed that they are launching it for $149.99 on a 3-year contract. It's available in black and white and if you pre-order it now you'll get yours in the week of April 10th. The device will officially hit Rogers on April 15th!

Canada's Telus Currently Testing Out the BlackBerry Pearl 9100

Canada's Telus looks like they're starting to test an upcoming BlackBerry, and yes, it's the BlackBerry Pearl 9100. This handset could be launching as early as next month on Fido, but who knows when this will hit Telus. The testing is under away so the leaks should be dropping fast in the next couple of days / weeks.

Samsung and Lenovo To Launch Netbooks This June With the VIA VX900 CPU

Lenovo and Samsung may be the first two companies out there who are looking to test out and release some netbooks with the newly announced VIA VX900 CPU. Apparently, these netbooks could hit the market starting in June of this year, which is only a couple of months away. This new chip is about as power efficient as the current Intel Atom line-up and it can manage to play HD videos as well. The netbooks that both companies push out will reportedly sport an HD resolution.

Panasonic Unveils ME550 and ME650 Mobile TVs For Japan

Although they probably won't be hitting the US market, Panasonic has just unveiled two waterproof mobile TVs, the ME550 and ME650. They both feature 5-inch displays with a 272 x 480 resolution, bigger / better speakers, and a 1Seg tuner. They can both record to their SDXC cards, but the ME650 steps it up with its own PMP functionalities. The prices weren't mentioned, but these should be available on the Japanese market sometime next month (May).

JR.com Has the Sony LX900, HX800, and HX900 Series 3DTVs Up For Pre-Order

Thanks to JR.com, we know some of the prices for Sony's upcoming 3DTVs. The LX900 Series (here) packs WiFi, an integrated 3D emitter and comes in 40, 46, 52, and 60-inch models. They'll be retailing for $1,799.99, $2,249.99, $2,969.99, and $3,779.99, respectively. The 40 and 46-inch HX800 (LED edge-lit) will retail for $1,529.99 and $1,799.9 (here), respectively, while the 46 and 52-inch HX900 (LED-backlit) models will go for $2,249.99 and $2,969.99 (here), respectively. You can pre-order these all now and they should be arriving in the Summertime.

Sharp Talking To a Mobile Phone Company About Their 2D / 3D LCD Display

We heard about Sharp's new 3D LCD display last week and everyone seems to be asking them if it'll be used in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. Of course, they decided to mention that they are talking to one mobile phone manufacturer about using the display. They didn't mention it being in the upcoming 3DS though.

Samsung Slide Shows Off Upcoming Bada Handsets, Will Be Cheaper Than the Wave

If you're looking to jump onto the Bada bandwagon but you think the Samsung Wave is a bit too expensive then you're in luck. Samsung's next 4 Bada phones will get cheaper and cheaper. The next one will be a full touchscreen phone, while the next two will sport slide-out QWERTY keyboards, and the last one will be another touchscreen phone.

The slide apparently also contained two future Windows Mobile phones and Samsung was kind enough to throw an Android phone into the mix. Some of these phones are expected to hit the market in Fall of this year.
