HP Looking To Revamp Notebook Line-Up For the Summer

Labels: , , , , , ,

HP could be gearing up for a bunch of notebooks for the Summertime. The HP dm4 notebook could be outed with Intel / AMD CPUs along with switchable graphics and an optical drive. This will, of course, sport a 14-inch display and could also have an aluminum body. HP's dv6 and dv7 notebooks will reportedly also be getting an aluminum lid along with a chiclet keyboard and the buttonless trackpad (which HP will hopefully improve). The dv6 could sport an optional touchscreen display and quad-core AMD processors which would be a first.

The dv5 could also be making a comeback as well, which will be a great addition. Let's hope HP can confirm this in a couple of weeks / months because Summer is almost here.

HP Launches the 17-Inch EliteBook 8740w Notebook, Starts At $2,000

Labels: , ,

We knew this was coming and it's official. HP has just launched the EliteBook 8740w which is a 17-inch notebook for the professionals out there. It's packing a mighty fine spec sheet including a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution LED-backlit display, Core i5 / i7-820QM CPU options, Nvidia Quadro / ATI FirePro graphics options, up to 16GB of RAM, and various HDD options (no SSD options though). There's also room for two USB 3.0 ports, eSATA / VGA / RJ45 / Firewire ports, a possible Gobi chipset, an optional 2MP webcam. The sad part about all of this is that there is no HDMI output, which is a real big let down.

The base model for this notebook will cost you $2,000, while the high-end model will cost you $3,900. Crunch Gear points out that it's a solid match to the Dell Precision M6500, but the Dell model actually has a Core i7-920XM option so it's definitely faster - then again the Dell is more expensive, starting at $2,749. Choose wisely.
