The "Enterprise Version" of the Google Nexus One Could Sport a QWERTY Keyboard and Larger Battery

Labels: , , ,

There's a new rumour going around thanks to Google's Engineering VP. He mentioned that there could be an "enterprise version" of the Google Nexus One that'll feature a physical (and probably a slide-out) QWERTY keyboard with a larger battery. The Nexus One is just the start of these official Google-branded phones, so it looks like we could be making way for the Nexus Two in the future.

They're also apparently working on a "budget model" for those who don't think $530 unlocked is worth it for the Nexus One.

Apple Getting Their Aluminum iSlate Casings In February, Set For Q2 Launch

Labels: , , ,

So, AVY Precision is claiming to be supplying Apple with aluminum cases for their tablets. They've mentioned that they'll be sending the cases over to them in February, so this could mean that the launch will follow up in March like we heard last week. If March doesn't work out then it'll be available in Q2 of this year.

Sprint Readying HTC WiMAX Handset, Palm C40, and BlackBerry Tour 9650 For a 2010 Launch

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

A new leak from Sprint just shows off what they could be offering in 2010. The main attractions here is the HTC A9292, which is a WiMAX handset, the Palm C40 (not on the list), which is not the Pre or the Pixi, and the BlackBerry Tour 9650, which will have WiFi and BB OS 5.0. As you can see on the list there's also a bunch of LG handsets, a couple of Samsung handsets, and a Sanyo handset as well.

Not on the list is a rumoured Motorola Windows Mobile 7 handset. It'll likely be running WinMo 7 since they mentioned that they wouldn't be launching any WinMo 6.5 handsets.

Mysterious Motorola Handset Passes the FCC With T-Mobile 3G Bands

Labels: , , , , ,

I wonder what this could be. It looks like another Motorola handset has passed the FCC with T-Mobile 3G support (WIND Mobile in Canada). This handset looks like it will be outed with quad-band GSM connectivity, Bluetooth / WiFi / GPS support. That's all we know. I'm hoping it's the Motorola Shadow, but that could be a long shot. Boy Genius points out that it could very well be the Sholes tablet.

MSI Harmony At CES Runs Android 2.1, Really Buggy At the Moment

Labels: , , , , , ,

Running Android 2.1, this MSI tablet was spotted at CES. At this point it's a prototype considering it being extremely buggy right now. Let's hope MSI irons out the issues and releases it by the end of this year because it's looking like it could have potential. If only we could get our hands on the spec sheet... Anyways, check out the link below for a couple of videos of the MSI tablet.

Update: According to Engadget, this tablet from MSI was actually using the new Nvidia Tegra 2 chip as well.

Bell Cuts Samsung Galaxy To $49.95, Rogers Cuts the LG Eve To $0, Telus Increases the Bold 9700 To $400

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Canada's Bell Mobility has wisely cut their first Android handset, the Samsung I7500 Galaxy, to just $49.95 CAD on a 3-year contract. This is definitely a great price for the Galaxy - at least I think so - but Rogers will be getting the XPERIA X10 in Q2 if you feel like waiting. Since we're talking about Rogers you should know that they cut their Android-based LG Eve (GW620) so that it's now free on a 3-year contract.

Telus also changed one of their smartphone prices. They have actually gone out of their mind and have increased the BB Bold 9700 to $399.99 on a 3-year contract. That's just outrageous.

Dell "Streak" MID To Launch as the Mini 5 Tablet, Runs Android 1.6

Labels: , , , , ,

It's not confirmed if it's headed to AT&T subsidized yet but now we know that the mysterious 5-inch Dell MID - formerly known as the Streak - will be launching as the Mini 5. It's sporting a 5-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen display, a 5MP camera, a front-facing camera, a SIM card slot, WiFi, and it's been caught running Android 1.6 at CES. We're hoping that it gets launched with at least Android 2.0 but only Dell knows if they'll do that. Of course, they'll be selling this on their website whenever they want too, but it could be hitting AT&T - like I said.

Microsoft Bringing Windows Mobile 7 To the MWC 2010 Party!

Labels: , , , ,

Let's hope Microsoft can live up to the standards because they are going to be showing off Windows Mobile 7 in public at MWC 2010 this year. Apparently it will be more than evolutionary, so there's big promise here. We already know that they're working on Xbox integration, but that doesn't matter to me since I don't need / want an Xbox 360. Let's just hope it'll be as good as Ballmer hopes it will be.

Cowon Puts Windows 7 On Their 4.8-Inch W2 MID, It'll Run It Slowly

Labels: , , , ,

Cowon has unveiled their latest MID, the W2. It's actually running Windows 7 which is pretty impressive, but it's only being powered by an Intel Atom 1.3GHz CPU, which means that it'll likely be lagging behind the competition. This MID sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a couple of LED status lights in the corner, and a pretty thick-looking body. Clearly the rest of the specs need to be sorted out, but this one will likely get lost in the flood of tablets that we've been hearing about at CES.

Labels: , , , ,

Of course, the Fujitsu Lifebook MH380 netbook was spotted at CES. Pegatron Atom Slate / Tablet and Compal's Android Tablet Get Tested

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The Pegatron slate was shown off at Microsoft's CES press conference but Steve Ballmer never said a word about it (and the Asus tablet as well). Well, this tablet is unnamed right now but we do know that it features an 11.6-inch touchscreen display, an Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 32GB SSSD, a front-facing webcam, and an HDMI port. It's built on Windows 7, but it needs some tweaking before it gets launched.

Gizmodo just got their hands-on the Compal tablet. It's a 7-inch tablet that runs Android and is powered by Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset. Apparently, it's looking good on paper, but doesn't do so well in real life. There's reportedly a software issue, so I'm sure that will be ironed out before it launches.

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

T-Mobile UK will be getting the larger 15-inch ICD tablet and it looks like Verizon has locked up the smaller 7-inch ICD Ultra tablet. This tablet has a touchscreen display, Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, a 4G Motorola LTE modem, WiFi b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 support, and the Android OS. Verizon is still testing out the tablet themselves and they also expect 25 to 30 4G markets by the end of this year. The price and availability hasn't been mentioned, but we're hoping that it'll be by the end of this year.

Haier Shows Off TV Prototype That's Powered Wirelessly

Labels: , ,

You may be wondering how this TV is on even though it has no wires and doesn't seem to be plugged it. Well, this prototype from Haier is actually a wireless TV. The TV itself isn't all that thin and neither is the power unit in the back. It'll power your TV with absolutely no wires thanks to it beaming RF waves into a coil in the back of the TV. If you want to read all the scientific facts then check out the link below. They're calling this WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) technology.

Asus Eee PC T101MT Set To Launch With Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen Display This Year

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Someone over at Liliputing spotted the Asus Eee PC T101MT at CES and it's obviously set for a launch this year. This netbook tablet features: an Intel Atom 1.66GHz N450 CPU, a 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch display, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth support, 6.5 hours of battery life, and Windows 7 Starter Edition / Home Premium. The higher end model packs a 320GB HDD and 2GB of RAM. The price and exact release date are still TBA.

Qualcomm To Launch 1.3GHz and Dual-Core 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPUs By the End of 2010

Labels: , , , , , ,

We all love the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU especially since it's been powering a bunch of smartbooks at CES and is found inside of several smartphones like the HTC HD2, the Google Nexus One, and the Toshiba TG01. We've just got word that Qualcomm is planning to launch two more [and faster] Snapdragon CPUs this year. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X50A is expected to clock in at 1.3GHz and manufacturers will begin checking them out by the end of this month. To make things even better, Qualcomm is also planning to launch a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU by the end of the year. Amazing stuff.

That definitely sucks for the XPERIA X10 since it's using the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, which could be "slow" if Qualcomm launches the 1.3GHz model.
