Labels: , , , , , ,

Shuttle has just unveiled their latest all-in-one PC, the X50 V2. It's looking pretty great and will run on Intel's new D510 dual-core CPU (still a part of the Pine Trail line-up), integrated GMA 3150 graphics, and a (15.6-inch, I believe) multi-touchscreen display. If you don't like that then they have also updated their J Series as well. This PC will feature Intel Core 2 Quad / Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options, a couple of GB of RAM, a could hundred gigabytes of storage, and ATI CrossFireX / Nvidia SLI graphics.

LG GW990 Now Official, 4.8-Inch Multi-Touchscreen Display

Labels: , , , ,

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd want an LG handset, but this could be it. The LG GW990 is sporting: a 4.8-inch multi-touchscreen display with a 1,020 x 480 resolution, 16GB of internal memory, , an Intel Moorestown CPU, WiFi / aGPS / 3G support, a digital compass, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, HD video support, a huge 1,850 mAh battery, and Intel's Moblin as an OS. The display is huge, so it could and probably will double as an MID and PMP. Could this that LG and Sprint and Microsoft handset that was hyped a couple of weeks ago? Only time will tell.

Update: According to Slash Gear, this "smartphone" will be launching in the second half of this year.

Don't worry, 3D is optional as Engadget points out.

Yeah, it looks nothing like the Notion Ink tablet we saw last week, but Adam did show up to CES. This tablet will be Android based and will utilize the Tegra 2 chipset along with the Pixel Qi display. If you turn the backlight off you'll be able to get around 40 hours of battery life which is pretty amazing. On the back there's a touchpad in case you're interested and it should launch for around $300 in June.

Asus Eee PC 1201NL Is Using an Old Atom and Has No OS

Labels: , , , , , , ,

At CES there's a new Asus Eee PC that has been spotted... okay, well, it's not entirely new. It's the 1201NL (a variant of the 1201N) that comes with an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU, Nvidia Ion graphics, and actually has no pre-loaded OS. So, you're free to put whatever you want on it. Unfortunately it'll only cost $20 - $30 less than the 1201N which comes with Windows 7 and a dual-core Atom CPU. It's up to you whether the price is right.

Google Nexus One Getting Multitouch In Europe

Labels: , , ,

Okay, so the Motorola DROID launched in the US without multitouch and launched in Europe as the Milestone with multitouch. The same little fiasco is taking place with the Google Nexus One. The Nexus One doesn't have multitouch in the US, but it will in Europe. This is likely good news for those Europeans who want to buy it unlocked or on contract with Vodafone.

It's okay American Nexus One owners they're already developing a hack for the Nexus One so that you'll get both multitouch and tethering.

Nvidia Mentions That Tegra 2 Is Launching On Tablets This Year

Labels: , , ,

There's not much to mention here but Nvidia has just confirmed that Tegra 2 will be headed to tablets in 2010. This includes tablets anywhere between 5 and 10-inches. Obviously Tegra 2 will handle Flash easily and supports Windows, Android, and the Chrome OS.

Maybe this will be in Apple's tablet, but we don't know this for sure - especially since Apple's considering their own PA Semi processor chips.

MSI Unveils 3D Notebook, Wind U135, AE2420 and Dual-Screen E-Book Reader!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Just like we heard two days ago, MSI has just unveiled their 3D notebooks and their dual-screen e-ook reader. Of course, they've also unveiled their fair share of netbooks with Intel Atom N450 CPUs - more specifically the Wind U135. Their 3D notebook consists of a 15.6-inch display with 120Hz and 3D technology. You'll have to wear glasses for the 3D effect, so I doubt you'll want to wear those in public.

They also have a couple of gaming notebooks on deck with Nvidia GT640 / GT740 / GX640 / GX740 graphics, and Intel Core i5 / Core i7 CPU options. They've unveiled the X-Slim X360 notebook as well and it'll have the new Intel "Arrandale" ULV CPUs.

Update: According to Gizmodo, there's also the Wind Top AE2420, which has an Intel Core i3 / i5 CPU, a 24-inch multi-toucshcreen display, a 500GB / 1TB HDD, ATI Radeon HD 5000 Series graphics, six USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI / VGA ouput. This all-in-one PC will be available for $1,199 USD.

The e-book reader is said to contain two 10-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen displays. From what I've seen it looks less like an e-book reader and more of a dual-screen netbook. This is especially considering that you can use one screen as a keyboard and the fact that it's powered by a Intel Atom Z Series CPU and is running Windows 7 Home Premium. Engadget actually just got their hands-on this device so check it out here. MSI is planning to launch this e-book reader this year, so let's hope they can pull through on their promise.

Haier did mention that they plan on updating it later this year with an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz CPU and Windows 7. The current version is launching for $429.99 USD.

Plastic Logic Debuts QUE E-Book Reader, Now Taking $650 and $800 Pre-Orders

Labels: , ,

We got our first glimpse of Plastic Logic's e-book reader in October and they've just shown it off at CES. The QUE e-book is actually available for pre-orders now and is expected to ship in April of this year. The price? $649 for a 4GB model without 3G and $799 for an 8GB with AT&T 3G connectivity. It's definitely a lot for an e-book reader, but it looks like it can double as a tablet. I still think it's a high price for a black and white tablet.

Dell Alienware M11X Made Official, Inspiron Notebooks Get the Core i3 / i5 Upgrade; Streak MID Teased

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

At Dell's press event this morning at CES they showed off their latest gaming Alienware notebook - the M11X. It's actually more like a netbook considering its 11.6-inch display, but this thing is pretty loaded. Inside it's packing Nvidia GT335M swappable graphics, a battery life that's good enough for 6 hours (using the power saver mode) and 2 hours of hardcore gaming. Surprisingly enough this notebook will go for less than $1,000 when they launch it - whenever that is. Check out Engadget's hands-on here.

Along with this news the briefly mentioned that their Inspiron notebook line-up (the 13, 15, and 17-inch models) will get updated today to use Intel's new Core i3 / i5 CPUs. Below is a picture of when they teased their Streak MID on stage. Unfortunately they mentioned absolutely nothing about it. Nothing at all.

This handset will reportedly feature: a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, a 3MP camera with a flash, a 300MHz CPU, a microSD card slot, 256MB of ROM and RAM, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GSM / HSDPA connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and an 1,100 mAh battery. This looks like it will be HTC's first dumbphone - especially since it's missing WiFi and GPS.

Spring Design Alex E-Book Reader Launching On February 22nd For $399

Labels: , , , , , ,

It'll be hitting the shelves on February 22nd for a whopping $399.99 USD. That's definitely a bit pricey for an e-book reader even though it does have a 3.5-inch coloured touchscreen display running Android at the bottom. Engadget did mention that they like it better than the Nook, so it's up to you if it's worth the extra moolah.

SHARP® EXPANDS THE LCD COLOR GAMUT WITH A GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY IN THREE NEWLY DESIGNED AQUOS® LED LCD TV SERIES
• Revolutionary four-primary-color technology enables more than one trillion colors
• Three UltraBrilliant Edge-lit AQUOS LED LCD TV Series with sizes ranging from 40- (40" diagonal) to an industry-first 68-inch (68 1/32" diagonal) screen class
• Newly developed dramatic, contemporary design sets the standard
• Flagship LE920 Series offers AquoMotion 240 for clearer fast-moving video
• AQUOS Net™ adds streaming video for enhanced home theater enjoyment
LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2010 – Sharp unveils three new AQUOS LED LCD TV series, breaking new ground in LCD technology and design. Premiering in the U.S. in early 2010, this next-generation set of UltraBrilliant Edge-lit AQUOS LED LCD TVs unveils a revolutionary technology, introducing never-before-seen colors to the TV industry. Unveiled by the company at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Sharp's proprietary four-primary-color technology enables more than a trillion colors to be displayed for more sparkling golds, Caribbean blues and sunflower yellows.
"As a pioneer in the LCD industry, Sharp continues to advance the technology, introducing it's first LED-backlight LCD TV on the market less than two years ago and paving the way for larger screen sizes, thin designs and Internet connectivity," said Mikio Katayama, president and chief operating officer, Sharp Corporation. "We have changed the way an LCD TV produces an image with the new four-primary-color technology, allowing us to broaden the visual experience and immerse consumers in a new world of color."

Four Primary Color Technology
This four-primary-color display employs a four-color filter, for the first time in the industry, that adds the color Y (yellow) to the three colors of R (red), G (green), and B (blue). This combination expands the color gamut, faithfully rendering nearly all colors that can be discerned with the unaided human eye. Four-primary-color technology enables the display to reproduce colors that have been difficult to portray using conventional LCD displays, such as the golden yellow color of brass instruments.
When combined with Sharp's 1080p X-Gen LCD panel, which incorporates UV2A Technology, the displays offer dramatic reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional fluorescent-backlight LCD TVs.
Continuing Sharp's history of innovation and originality, the new AQUOS LEDs offer a stunning new contemporary design that pushes the envelope for flat-screen television artistry. At only 1.6-inches thin, the full-front panel glass (on the LE920 and LE820 series) extends to meet the slim border for a subtle edge that befits the elegance of a modern home theater.
These advanced AQUOS LED LCD TVs also include Sharp's newest version of AQUOS Net, which delivers streaming video with Netflix®. AQUOS Net gives users instant access to customized Web-based content as well as AQUOS Advantage Live real-time customer support. The new AQUOS LED LCD TV product lines are all compliant with Energy Star® Version 4.0 standards which become effective in May 2010 and are equipped with Sharp's OPC function that automatically adjusts the unit's brightness based on the lighting of the room.

LE920 Series
The LE920 AQUOS LED LCD TV Series represents the flagship line of this new suite of AQUOS products, offering the pinnacle in image quality and connectivity. This Full-HD 1080p LCD TV Series, available in an industry-first 68-inch (LC-68LE920UN) screen class size, as well 60- (LC-60LE920UN) and 52-inch (LC-52LE920UN) screen class sizes (68 1/32", 60 1/32" and 52 1/32" diagonals respectively), combines Sharp's Full HD 1080p X-Gen LCD panel with its UltraBrilliant Edge-lit LED backlight to display vibrant colors and deep blacks. Additionally, this 1080p TV offers outstanding performance for fast-action imagery, employing AquoMotion 240, which virtually eliminates blur and artifacts on fast-moving video. Offering extreme flexibility, the LE920 Series includes a USB media player for digital video/music/photo enjoyment.

LE820/810 Series
Offering additional large-screen AQUOS LED LCD TV options, the LE820 and LE810 Series are available in 60- (LC-60LE820UN and LC-60LE810UN), 52- (LC-52LE820UN and LC-52LE810UN), 46- (LC-46LE820UN and LC-46LE810UN) and 40-inch (LC-40LE820UN and LC-40LE810UN) screen class sizes (60 1/32", 52 1/32", 45 63/64" and 40" diagonals respectively). Similar to the LE920 Series, these models combine Sharp's X-Gen LCD panel with an UltraBrilliant Edge-lit LED backlight. Sharp's proprietary Fine Motion Enhanced technology is included for 120 Hz Frame Rate Conversion, as well as fast response time (4 ms).

Advanced Connectivity

It still has its traditional 17-inch display and will cost you $750 when it launches. The smaller 15.6-inch AS5740 also got updated to accomodate a 2.2GHz Intel Cire i5-430M CPU, 4GB of RAM, discrete ATI graphics, and Windows 7. Unfortunately, this one doesn't have a Blu-ray drive, but it'll still cost you just $750. Those are some pretty sweet budget notebooks.

Xbox 360's Project Natal Officially Launching In Holiday 2010

At the Microsoft CES press conference it was announced that Project Natal will be hitting shelves in holiday season 2010, so that means a couple of months from now - and that also means it's exactly what we heard. This one's for the Xbox 360 and will be full-body motion-sensing unlike the Wii where it's just your hand - unless you're using some other peripheral.

I wonder when Sony's own Wii-clone motion-sensing controller will launch.

These new Bravia 3D HDTVs are expected to launch this Summer with a Full HD 1080p resolution and built-in WiFi support. If you're writing down model numbers, this one's the HX900. This Series will be available in 40 to 60-inch models, so look out for them in a couple of months.

Motorola Backflip Now Official; Android 2.1 and Flash 10.1 Update In the Future

Labels: , , , , , ,

At this point we already know that the Motorola Backflip is headed to AT&T in Q1 of this year as one of their first Android phones. Well, Motorola has finally made the handset official. This handset will feature everything we already know: MOTOBLUR on top of Android 2.1, a 5MP camera, WiFi / 3G support, an awkward hinge, and there's even a touchpad on the back. To make things even better, Motorola also mentioned that all of their Android handsets will get updated to Android 2.1 eventually. Flash 10.1 will also make an appearance on the DROID, which should be getting an update (not for Flash support) soon.

Anyways, check out the Backflip page here.

White Nokia Twist 7505 Possibly Headed To Verizon?

Labels: , , ,

This photo above could be telling us that Verizon is planning to launch the Nokia Twist (7505). But, that's not all, it'll be in a white flavour! In case you forgot, this handset features a QVGA display and a 1.3MP AF camera. Clearly it's a bit lower-end than the Nokia Twist 7705 since that one has a 3MP camera, but it's okay. We don't know when it'll launch.

Apple Using Qualcomm 3G / EV-DO Chip Inside the Verizon-Bound iPhone

Labels: , , , ,

It's no surprise that Apple plans to launch the iPhone on Verizon. While they sort their differences out, the latest rumour states that Apple could be looking to use a Qualcomm chip inside their Verizon-bound iPhone. But wait, it won't be the Snapdragon CPU, it'll actually be a 3D chip for EV-DO technology. The CPU could be the next-gen ARM Cortex (I believe the A9), so we'll just have to wait and see.
