Asus Goes For "Gingerbread" In Their Eee Pad EP101TC Tablet, Sorry Windows

Labels: , , , , , , ,

In late May we heard about three Asus tablets and now one of them has changed slightly. The Eee Pad EP101TC coming from Asus won't be running Windows Embedded Compact 7 anymore, instead they've opted to go with Android 3.0 "Gingerbread" which is great news for everyone. Sadly, we'll now have to wait until CES in January 2011 to see how well the tablet works. For testing purposes, Asus is using Android 2.2 "Froyo" to see if everything is working out. Apparently, this tablet will have integrated 3G connectivity and they'll be shipping samples of it to carriers by the end of this year. This tablet is still about 6 months from actually being released so hopefully Asus improves some specs inside as well, but we'll see what happens.
