Sony Ericsson Announces the XPERIA X8, Yendo Walkman, and the Cedar Handsets

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Sony Ericsson has just officially announced three more of their own handsets and we've heard about all three before. The first one is above, which is clearly the Sony Ericsson "Shakira" and the rumours were right: it's now the XPERIA X8. This handset is sporting a 3-inch HVGA touchscreen display (320 x 480 resolution), HSPA connectivity, WiFi / GPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 3.2MP camera, a 600MHz CPU, Stereo Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot (2GB card pre-installed), and Android with their own four-corner UI on it. This will be available sometime in Q3 of this year and will sport Android 2.1 likely a couple of weeks after the launch.

As expected, Sony Ericsson also announced the W150i today, as the Yendo Walkman (which I thought would be just a codename). This handset actually isn't an Android-based handset (as believed) but it does have the same four-corner UI that you'll find on the X8 and the X10 Mini. Beneath its 2.6-inch QVGA touchscreen display you'll also find Bluetooth support along with social integration. The handset itself also boasts a 2MP camera, a microSD card slot, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (no 3G support). This handset will also be available in Q3 of this year and will have a bunch of different colours for you to choose from.

The last handset is, of course, the Sony Ericsson Cedar. This handset is a part of SE's Greenheart series so it's quite eco-friendly since it's made of recycled plastic. The handset itself features a 2.2-inch display, 3G, social integration, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 2MP camera. This phone will be available in, you guessed it, Q3.
