BlackBerry With a Slide-Out QWERTY Keyboard, Picture From a Patent In March 2008

Labels: , ,

Back in late September we heard that RIM was working on a BlackBerry with a slide-out landscape QWERTY keyboard. Well, what you see may be your first look at what it could look like. Codenamed Mr. T this handset features a touchscreen - like their Storm line-up. Keep in mind that this is an old picture and was patented way back in March 2008. I'm sure it'll look a bit different - hopefully better.

In this model there'll be more USB 2.0 ports and it will also feature two ThinkLights at the top - for your keyboard. Of course, it should sport a slightly sleeker design. The release details haven't been mentioned yet.

It's unconfirmed whether this actually means that they'll be unveiling their first handset running Android. Could this be the rise of the Creative ZiiPhone? Check out Creative's site.

Best Buy Offering the HTC Hero For $99; Sprint Prepping HTC Hero Update, Still Android 1.5

Labels: , , , , ,

It looks like the Sprint HTC Hero has already gotten a price drop at your local Best Buy. We're now hearing that the price has been dropped to $99 on a 2-year contract, which was pretty fast.

If you're a current Sprint Hero owner, you should know that Sprint is cooking up an update for you. Unfortunately, it will still have Android 1.5, so there'll be no 2.0 goodness for you until next year. Be patient, young grasshopper.

Canada's Virgin Mobile Cuts All of Their BlackBerry Prices To Free On Contract

Labels: , , , ,

Canada's Virgin Mobile slashed their BlackBerry prices just a couple of weeks ago and they've done it again. All of their BlackBerries are now free on a 3-year contract. This includes: the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, the Flip 8230, and the Curve 8330. Yes, these are fairly old models, so maybe it'll be worth waiting for their new models to come in.

Keep in mind that the Curve 8330 is the only one that got the price cut today, the other two have been free for a couple of weeks now. Check it out on Virgin's website here.

The Acer Aspire Timeline 1820PT is another tablet notebook that has been spotted on some Australian online websites. As you can see above, it's going for $1,522.80 AUD, which is a bit expensive. Unfortunately, all of Australia's notebooks are expensive.

Just to recap, this tablet notebook features: an 11.6-inch multitouchscreen display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.2GHz ULV CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM (up to 8GB), a 250GB HDD (up to 320GB), integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, integrated 3G, an Ethernet port, WiFi 802.11n / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, HDMI / VGA / three USB 2.0 ports, a card reader, a 6-cell battery, and Windows 7 Home Premium. It's also available in blue and black. They won't be available for another couple of weeks because they haven't gotten their stock of these tablet notebooks yet.

If you're interested - or bored - you can check it out on K.S Computers here. This site states that their stock should be arriving in around 10 days.

Lenovo Netbook With an Intel Atom N450 CPU Gets FCC Certified

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Something new has just been spotted at the FCC and it's a Lenovo netbook. This is not like every other netbook though. According to the FCC filing, this netbook features: an Intel Atom N450 (Pine Trail) 1.6GHz CPU, a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 250GB HDD, WiFi 802.11n, 2GB of RAM, a chiclet keyboard, a buttonless touchpad, and way too much gloss - as you can tell with all of that fingerprint grease.

It's pretty cool that a netbook with the next generation of Intel Atom's has already passed the FCC. I'd assume that this netbook will be released in early 2010 with a showing at CES 2010.
