Mediocre Sony Ericsson XPERIA X5 Concept Photos

Labels: , , , , ,

On the right side is a concept photo of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X5, codenamed "Nadime." The concept isn't that great, but the "specs" of the concept are great. So, this concept outlines that the XPERIA X5 has: a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 12MP AF camera with HD video recording, a touch-sensitive keyboard, the Sony Ericsson "AppStore", and Android. Let's hope that the artist is placing an AMOLED display on this bad boy. Yeah, nothing is confirmed at the time, but the XPERIA X3 will have to do for now.

China Mobile Releasing HTC Qilin By the End of the Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

China Mobile has just announced another Windows Mobile handset that they will release. They're calling it - possibly just a codename - the HTC Qilin, which looks surprisingly like the HTC Whitestone that we know and love. It almost looks the same, but the specs are almost identical. The HTC Qilin is reportedly going to have: a 3.6-inch touchscreen WVGA display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a 5MP AF camera, 512MB of ROM, 256MB of RAM, a TI OMAP 3430 600MHz CPU, GSM/EDGE/GPRS TD-SCDMA connectivity, WiFi 802.11 g, and aGPS support.

I don't know what's with the WiFi support, since it is being launch in China. This handset will be running Windows Mobile 6.5 and will be available by the end of the year - possibly a December launch.

Update on August 25th: According to The Unwired, the HTC Qilin will be released as the Dopod T8388

Right now the details on this device are scarce, but we know that it has GSM support, so it could launch on either T-Mobile of AT&T. Let's also hope it retains Android from the I7500 Galaxy. Labels: , , ,

According to the latest rumours, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be officially announced next week at Sony Ericsson's press event. This handset is definitely an improvement over the XPERIA X1, but will it be enough? This is interesting. The GM of Nvidia's mobile unit, Mike Rayfield, has just mentioned that the Nvidia Tegra chipset will be coming to "media pads" later this year. The "media pad" will be 3G-capable and will range from 7 to 13-inches in size. I'm sure you remember that the iTablet was being purported as a gaming device earlier this month. RIM Buys Torch Mobile; Webkit Browser On Its Way

Labels: , , , , , ,

Last week, we heard rumours that BlackBerry would be launching a browser next Summer with Flash and Silverlight support. To add fuel to the fire, RIM has just bought Toronto-based Torch Mobile. This, in turn, will help them with their upcoming browser - since Torch Mobile has their own Iris Webkit browser. With this new acquisition, maybe RIM could deliver their new browser sooner rather than next Summer. Torch Mobile has also mentioned that they will no longer be "developing for Windows Mobile or Windows CE" so they're committed to RIM.

Pictures of the Samsung S3650 Corby and M2520 in the Wild

Labels: , ,

The Samsung S3650 Corby is above and the M2520 is below; these are both mid-end handsets. The Corby (specs here) will launch sometime this year for just $150 - $200, so it is in contention for being one of the cheapest touchscreen handsets to-date. Not much is known about the Samsung M2520, but it does have quad-band GSM connectivity and Bluetooth support. We don't know when or how much it will launch for, but it should be later this year. You can check out the link below for more photos.

Mysterious Android MID-560 is the eviGroup Wallet MID

Labels: , , , , ,

The mysterious and still quite unknown Android MID-560 is eviGroup's Wallet MID. It could launch by the end of the year for just €200 ($286 USD) which is pretty darn cheap. They've described this device as a "unit halfway between a cellphone and a TabletPC with a 5-inch screen." We still don't know the complete specs of this device, but it does have: a camera, a 5-inch touchscreen display, GPS support, and a card slot. Let's hope that this hits the US because this looks like it could be pretty solid.

Nokia Shocks the World, Unveils Their Sexy Netbook, the Booklet 3G

Labels: , , , ,

It was just a couple of days ago when Nokia confirmed that they are definitely "looking" to enter the netbook market and it's been months since we've heard rumours about a Nokia netbook. Today, it's official! Nokia has unveiled the Booklet 3G, it has: a 10.1-inch display, an Intel Atom CPU, integrated 3G, a SIM card slot, aGPS support, HDMI output, Bluetooth / WiFi support, and a battery long enough to reportedly last 12 hours. The design definitely looks pretty nice. It weighs 2.75 pounds, it's just 2cm thick, and I'm loving the chiclet keyboard layout - don't forget it's aluminum body. It's like Apple helped them design this thing. This is sexy.

It looks like it will be available this year because it is running Windows 7 in the video below - hopefully there'll be an Intel Moblin OS option. This netbook will be officially unveiled on September 2nd by Nokia themselves - y'know Nokia World.

Big Verizon Leak: BlackBerry Storm 2 / Curve 2 (8530), LG Chocolate Touch, Samsung Rogue, Motorola Sholes

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Well, looky here, it's a new leak from Verizon and this one is huge. This screenshot above, tells us that the Samsung Rogue could be available sometime this month for $370 USD subsidized - Engadget says that it might not happen. The Nokia Twist 7705 - which could be the swiveling handset from a while ago - is expected to hit Verizon in late September for $230 and the Samsung Intensity should be available for $160 next month as well. The LG Chocolate Touch, BlackBerry Storm 2, HTC Razzle / Blitz 2, and the Android-based Motorola Sholes should be available in October. In late November we should be expecting the BlackBerry Curve 2, which could be the Curve 8530 - basically a CDMA version of the Curve 8520.

These dates may not be entirely accurate, but at least you have a slight clue as to when they'll be available.
