RAmos T6 PMP Has a 4.3-Inch Display and an HDMI Output

Labels: , ,

RAmos is back with yet another PMP that won't hit America. The RAmos T6 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution and an HDMI output, just in case the screen isn't large enough for you. On the front of the PMP there are no buttons, but you'll find a few on the sides. Impressive? Well, we don't know when, where, and how much it will be available for.

Tainell Announces T500 MID, Has HDMI and an Atom CPU

Labels: , , , , ,

Tainell is a pretty unknown brand - to me, at least. Their latest MID may not look all that great, but it's pretty good spec-wise. The Tainell T500 MID has: a 5-inch resistive touchscreen display, an Intel Atom 1.1GHz Z510 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, a mini-USB, a USB, audio in/out, a 0.3MP webcam, and an HDMI port. Like I said, the specs are pretty good. Unfortunately, we don't know how much this MID will cost; we also don't know when and where this will be available.

Dell Launching Android-Based Smartphone, the Ophone mini3i, to China Only

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Remember the Dell smartphone rumour from this morning? Well, it looks like the rumour was partially true. Dell will be launching a "China-only cell phone" on China Mobile and it will be called the Ophone mini3i. And yes, it will be an Android-based handset. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Dell's first smartphone will work outside of China, thanks to it supporting TD-SCDMA.

"China Mobile plans to establish Ophone as a new brand and sell a number of devices from different makers under it. Apart from Dell, Lenovo and another Chinese company called Dopod [CN] are expected to release Ophones in the next few days."

I'll try to get photos of Dell's mini3i as soon as possible for you all. This handset is expected to launch "in the middle of the month."

Deep Red and Metallic Blue DualShock 3 Hitting GameStop on September 22 For $54.99

Labels: , , , ,

Earlier rumours pointed the red and blue DualShock 3 controllers to an October release date, but it looks like it could actually be earlier than that. We should probably refer back to the very first rumours about the two controllers because they could actually be a bit more accurate. According to the latest Gamestop photo, the "Deep Red" and "Metallic Blue" DualShock 3 controllers will actually be available starting on September 22nd. The $54.99 USD price tag will probably remain the same.

TG Sambo Unloads Four New 16:9 LCD Monitors

Labels:

This is actually the first time I've heard of TG Sambo, but it's definitely a good first impression. This company has just announced four new LCD monitors. The 20-inch 2000A, 21.6-inch 2250A, 23-inch 2300A, and the 24-inch TGL 2400A all have: a 16:9 aspect ratio, a digital TV tuner, a 2ms response time, a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and HDMI / DVI / VGA inputs. Unfortunately, the 20-inch model is the only one without the Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution.

Right now, only the price for the largest (24-inch) display is available and it'll go for 449,000 KRW ($336 USD) when it gets released. We don't know when the release date is, but let's hope it's sooner rather than later. I don't know if these are going to hit the US.

HTC Touch Pro 2 Launching on T-Mobile For $349 on a 2-Year Contract This Wednesday, $549 Outright

Labels: , ,

Looks like our old rumour was inaccurate. Instead of the HTC Touch Pro 2 launching on T-Mobile for $299, it will actually be launching for $349 on a 2-year contract this Wednesday (August 12th). The other prices are: $399 on a 1-year contract and $549 contract-free. It's pretty expensive, but I'm sure it's worth it - for some of you out there. Anyways, take a look at the picture I snapped today of the Canadian Telus HTC Touch Pro 2. It's actually much larger than I thought it would be and, at first, I thought the hinges were broken.

Sony to Announce New PS3 Firmware, New PSN, PS3 Slim and PSP Price Cuts at GamesCom This Year

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

According to the latest rumour, Sony will unveil new PS3 firmware and a new PlayStation Network on August 18th as well. August 18th marks Sony's 3-hour press conference scheduled to take place at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany this year. It's only eight days away. Don't forget that Sony could also be announcing PS3 news aka PS3 Slim news and they could also be announcing the original PSP's price cut - to make way for the new PSP Go. This event - for me - is starting to get more hyped up than E3 was.

Acer Cuts Orders For 14 and 15-inch Ultra-Thin Notebooks

Labels: , ,

According to DigiTimes, Acer has reduced some of its orders for 14 and 15-inch ultra-thin notebooks and they're citing low-demand. They're only going to make around 200,000 units, which is well under the 600,000 mark that was originally expected. That definitely sucks.

Motorola Sholes / Shules to Be Android 2.0-Equipped, Launching This Thanksgiving on Verizon, Doubles as a Gaming Device?

Labels: , , , , ,

The Motorola Sholes / Shules headed to Verizon looks to be a great competitor in the mobile phone industry when it launches. It's expected that this handset will have Android 2.0 when it gets released. The latest rumour says that it could launch on Verizin in time for Thanksgiving and it could be pegged with a $199 on a 2-year contract price tag.

"It had been hoped that the Sholes would include the Snapdragon processor for even higher speeds, but 600 MHz is still a highly competitive and workable spec for a first-gen Android device. According to Android and Me, 'Native support for OpenGL ES 2.0 + hardware acceleration from the PowerVR SGX 530 = mobile gaming device more powerful than a Sony PSP or Nintendo DSi.'"

And that, my friends, is great news. We'll just have to see when we gets some videos that shows off how good you can game on this device. Oh yeah, if this ships with Android 2.0, we could see multitouch on this bad boy.

Acer Set to Take the Lead From HP This Q3 in the Global Notebook Market

Labels: , , , ,

After Acer surpassed Dell last year on the global consumer notebook market, they hit the second position, trailing only HP. DigiTimes is now reporting that Acer could pass HP by the end of Q3 this year. This is good news, since I'm actually looking at getting an Acer notebook for this September when I start University. We'll see what happens when this quarter ends.

8GB iPhone 3GS Spotted on Rogers' Official Website -- Possibly Just a Mistake

Labels: , , , , ,

Remember that rumour we heard about four days ago? The one about Rogers selling 8GB models of the iPhone 3GS, since they ran out of the 8GB model of the iPhone 3G? Well, it looks like it'll be available soon. On Rogers' official website, they have an "iPhone comparison" tab that clearly shows an 8GB iPhone 3GS model on the list. Now, we just need to know when this whole deal will start - and for how much. Let's hope $99 on a 3-year contract.

Update on August 11th: According to what Phone Arena found out, this was actually a mistake on Rogers' part and he said that there is no 8GB iPhone 3GS. I don't know who to believe now, but we'll just have to see what happens in the probably near future.

Because You Wanted to Know -- My Laptop Died

Labels: ,

As you may or may not know, I had a laptop from MDG. MDG is a computer manufacturer in Canada and they're pretty much an infamous brand up here. I've read a few of their reviews and they're pretty mixed - most of them are bad though. And no, I didn't get to choose my laptop, I got it as a present. I was happy though, since it was my first laptop. I was definitely excited. Thankfully, I had minimal problems with my laptop and it somehow lasted as long as it did. Unfortunately, I sensed its death was near with a ton of BSODs and keyboard problems over the past couple of months.

Around three weeks ago, my laptop started to flicker really badly and I had a BSOD right after. I figured it was a regular BSOD and that everything would be okay as long as I restarted it. That's where I was wrong. My laptop wouldn't start up anymore and the flickering continued, so I decided to reformat. After I uninstalled Windows XP - yes it was that old - I figured everything would be okay. And I was wrong again. So, I asked my uncle if he could fix it, since he usually does my computer dirty work. Thankfully, he told me that I just needed to buy a new HDD, so I was definitely relieved. So last week, I got myself a cheap laptop HDD and gave it to him.

And this brings us to today. He just gave me a call and told me that the HDD worked fine, but the problem was actually the motherboard. So, it looks like my laptop has died. I don't think there's really a point in getting a new motherboard, so I might as well just get a new laptop altogether.

Thankfully, that's a good thing because I've wanted a new laptop for a while. But, me and my mom don't have all the money in the world and with University coming up, it really sucks that I have to get a new laptop now. Anyways, I'm back on the laptop market, on my way to not get a Mac. I still don't know what to get though, but this time I actually have a choice.

Dell Releasing Mobile Phone in Under Two Days in China

Labels: , , , , ,

Out of nowhere, rumour has it that Dell is going to be releasing their long-rumoured smartphone in China in under two days! This really caught me off-guard because we still don't have any solid information on this handset from Dell. We know that it could be sporting: a touchscreen, no QWERTY keyboard, and it could be iPhone / Palm Pre-like. We don't even know where it will be launching at this point, but it'll hit either China Unicom or China Mobile. Let's hope more information about Dell's handset gets announced later today. Let's also hope it's running Android.
