HTC Hero Coming to T-Mobile USA?

Labels: , , , ,

Three days ago, we got a look at HTC's support site and it leaked out that Sprint would be getting the HTC Hero. And if you remember, back in July, we heard that there were "no plans" on T-Mobile USA launching the HTC Hero. Well, today's support site screen capture (above) tells us something different. Could T-Mobile be launching the HTC Hero? Obviously, it's unconfirmed at the time, but this would definitely be a good look for T-Mobile USA if they can get their hands on this device. Looks like we'll just have to wait.

Possible Nokia Rover Tablet Passes FCC, Could be Headed to T-Mobile

Labels: , , , , ,

No, sorry, it's not the Apple tablet. This is actually Nokia's latest device to pass the FCC. But, the device is pretty large so it's probably not a mobile phone. It could be the Maemo-powered Nokia Rover Internet tablet though. We don't know yet, but it has AWS 3G, which is a perfect fit for T-Mobile USA. Just wait a little bit, I'm sure information will start to leak out soon.

MSI, HP, Dell, and Asus Releasing Tablet / Netbook Hybrids in 2010

Both of these hybrids are expected to launch with Intel's new Pine Trail Atom CPUs. Any details on the Dell netbook / tablet hasn't been outlined yet, so we'll just have to wait a little bit until we hear more about it. It's no surprise that Asus will launch tablet / netbook hybrids in the future since they've already launched the Eee PC T91 and they're looking to launch the T101 later this year.

This phone has nothing exciting for the regular everyday users, but it does have GPS support. This handset is now available at Sprint for "just under $2,000." Motorola Throwing Customized UI On Their Android Devices, Called "Blur"

Labels: , , , ,

We know that Motorola is launching Android handsets soon and the only two we know of so far is the Morrison and the Sholes / Shules. To get back in the game, Motorola is going to work hard to adapt to Android as much as they can. Like HTC's Sense UI on the Hero, Motorola plans to throw a customized UI onto their Android handsets. They're calling the UI "Blur" and below is what we know about it so far.

Motorola’s Android offering is definitely a customization of the Android user interface much like HTC has done. It will combine all personal contacts and social networking sites into a clean and easy to use interface. While it’s nice to know Moto is going to be throwing a skin on top of Android, what’s more interesting is the next part.
The skin/OS is named “Blur” by Motorola and will be heavily web-connected. All Android devices will be able to upgrade different sections of the OS and interface all over the air. There’s been something mentioned about a device key that’s attached to your email and passwords for your social networking accounts. What this presumably does is let all the content be pushed right to the device from the web which includes updates and actual upgrades.

Verizon Touch Diamond 2 / Whitestone Looks Different; Pictures of the HTC Mega and Tachi Pop Up Too!

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

As you may or may not know, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is going to be launched by Verizon as the HTC XV6975 - or could this actually be the Whitestone? Whatever it is, above is the new rendered form of it. It looks quite different from the Touch Diamond 2 that we all know and love, but it looks sexy. Like I said, this could be the Whitestone, since the specs are a little bit different from the Touch Diamond 2. This handset has: a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, aGPS support, a 5MP AF camera, a Qualcomm 7600 528MHz CPU, 512MB of ROM, 256MB of RAM, GSM / CDMA connectivity, and it will also run WinMo 6.1. It will, of course, be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5. If you remember, the Touch Diamond 2 has a smaller 3.2-inch touchscreen display. Anyways, the release date for the Touch Diamond 2 / Whitestone / XV6975 on Verizon is said to be September / October.

I've talked about the HTC Mega before and what you see above is what it will supposedly look like. The HTC Mega has: a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, GSM / HSDPA connectivity, GPS support, a 3MP camera, a Qualcomm 7225 528MHz CPU, and 256MB of ROM and RAM. It will be running on WinMo 6.5 and will have the new Touch FLO2D UI that we saw just over a week ago.

Last, but not least, is a picture of the HTC Tachi. This phone will be sold in China via China Telecom, under the Dopod brand name. It'll be running Windows Mobile.

Sharp Unveils 13 New Aquos DX HDTVs With Blu-Ray Players, Launching on September 10th in Japan

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Following the release of the 20-inch Sharp Aquos DX with an integrated Blu-ray player in June, Sharp has added 5 more sizes to the same series. They range from 26 to 52-inches and they all have an integrated Blu-ray player with BD-Live and IPTV support, thanks to an Ethernet port. The smaller and non-Full HDTVs are the 26-inch LC-26DX2 and the 32-inch LC-32DX2 sets. These TVs have: a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a 7,000:1 contrast ratio, and two HDMI inputs. Let's move onto something actually worth talking about now.

The larger 40-inch LC-40DX2, 46-inch LC-46DX2, and 52-inch LC-52DX2 models actually support Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, so they'll actually be able to play true Blu-ray resolutions. These HDTVs have a 15,000:1 contrast ratio and three HDMI inputs.

All five different sizes are expected to launch on September 10th in Japan. The price has not been mentioned yet, but they certainly won't be cheap. The 20-inch model back in June sold for ¥150,000 ($1,573 USD) and didn't even have Full HD resolution support, so you better start saving up now. There's been no word if these will hit anywhere outside of Japan.

Afterwards, Asus is looking to make the Moblin Linux OS an option for all of their notebooks - if the launch goes smoothly. What's also interesting is that Asus is reportedly working "closely together" with Google to launch the Chrome OS on one of their netbooks in the "not-too-distant future." I'm excited!

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Rumoured to Hit Vodafone UK This Weekend

Labels: , , , ,

According to the latest rumour, Vodafone UK could get the Curve 8520 as early as this weekend. The dummy phones are actually landing in Vodafone stores across UK as we speak, so the launch is going to take place sooner rather than later. By the way, if you're patient enough to wait, it'll launch for free.

LG GD910 Launches Cheaper Than Expected -- Still Going to Hurt Your Soul

Labels: , , , , ,

As you may or may not know, the LG GD910 is a watch phone and it is now available on Orange overseas in Europe. Ever since today, we've figured that they were going to launch it for £1,000 ($1,672 USD) on a 1 or 2-year contract. Well, today, the official pricing has been announced since it's now available - but it's not much of a better deal though. It is now available on Orange for £899 ($1,290 USD) on a 1 or 2-year contract, which is still a boat-load. I guess we'll just have to buy the Samsung GT-9100 watch phone instead - it's much cheaper at €450 ($646 USD).

HTC Fiesta Runs Android, Possibly Headed to AT&T

Labels: , , , , ,

It's been unofficially confirmed, but the HTC Fiesta is another Android phone to look forward to. The HTC T5252 Fiesta actually got the green light back in April by the Bluetooth SIG and people were actually just guessing that this was an Android phone. Well, they're correct. Apparently, the profile (shown above) also gives off enough information and whispers to us that it will hit the US via AT&T. With the 240 x 320 resolution display though, it doesn't look like it will be a high-end handset.

Full Touchscreen Sony Ericsson Jalou to Run on S60 5th Edition -- Fake Fan-Made Picture

Labels: , , ,

Here's our first photo of the Sony Ericsson "Jalou". This full touchscreen-based phone will be running on S60 5th Edition and will have: WiFi, GPS, and some form of HSDPA connectivity. As of right now, we don't know what it will look like, but it's shaping up to be something that you won't find in their Walkman brand of phones. And, trust me, that's a very good [and sexy] thing.

Update: According to a newer Engadget Mobile post, this picture is actually a fan made and "heavily-modified" picture of the Sony Ericssson W995. Basically, the screen shot above is a fake. Looks like we'll have to wait another day to see if the Sony Ericsson "Jalou" is real.
