HP Launching Upgraded Netbooks and Intel ULV-Packed Notebooks This Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

Yes, Asus and Acer have given up for the rest of the year, but what do you think HP is up to? Well, it looks like HP is going to start working on a new 11.6-inch netbook / notebook next month; they're also expected to upgrade one of their fellow 10.1-inch netbooks starting in Summer. The 11.6-inch model is going to be worked on by Quanta and will be sporting Intel's ULV platform. Inventec, on the other hand, is said to be working on HP's 10.1-inch netbook, which will, of course, use either the Intel Atom N270 or N280 CPU.

In August, HP will also launch new notebooks in the 13.3-inch and 14-inch category. I'm not sure if these will be utlizing Intel's ULV platform, but we'll know more about it as time passes.

Sony Ericsson Logo Will Come in Multiple Colours Soon

Labels: ,

It looks like in the future Sony Ericsson will be launching "a new marketing campaign" which will feature new logo colours. You probably already know all about the green logo that has been the standard for Sony Ericsson in the past. Their future phones could be branded with a different colour logo. I guess it's a good thing, some of us want change.

A new promotional campaign will also give consumers who buy certain SE phones the chance to win World Cup tickets in South Africa next year. But back to the important part - what do you think of the various colored logos? If you ask me it just dillutes the brand image and I like the green logo best anyways.

Labels: , , ,

Well, it took long enough Telus. It looks like it has been delayed, since they were supposed to launch the HTC Snap on July 15th and the HTC Touch Pro 2 on July 21st. Just in case you're still waiting, you should probably know that the HTC Snap and Touch Pro 2's dummy units are now available at your local Telus store - or at least, they should be. I'm going to go check them out a bit later, I want to hold the Touch Pro 2 in my hands.

Yes, Bell is launching the Samsung Link tomorrow, but if you can't wait then here's good news for you. This is definitely much cheaper than Bell's prices.

T-Mobile Officially Launching the HTC Touch Pro 2 on August 12th

Labels: , ,

Before today, it was only a rumour, but thankfully, T-Mobile finally confirmed that the HTC Touch Pro 2 will be launching on August 12th. Although it wasn't worth enough to make my top 10 phone list of 2009, it is still an impressive phone. I'm glad it's finally getting launched on T-Mobile, but I'm still waiting for it to hit Telus / Best Buy up here in Canada.

China Unicom Launching the iPhone This September?

Labels: , , , , ,

If everything goes as planned then China Unicom will be selling the iPhone this September. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be an iPhone without WiFi, but it will have 3G support. At this point, we don't know which iPhone they will launch - the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS - but China Unicom hopes that they'll be able to sell somewhere between 1 to 2 million units, since that's how much they're ordering from Apple. It's supposedly going to hit the Chinese market cheaper than the knock-off's. They plan to sell cheap iPhone's on a contract, so that could be a good thing. September is just a guess though because they're still working on "resolving issues".

Labels: , , , ,

Yes, the LG GD910 watch phone is launching on Orange next month. And yes, it's expensive. But, it's revolutionary or so they say. They decided to prove it by showing us a demo video - it's below. Hopefully, they'll iron some of the glitches that happened during the whole 54 seconds. Maybe, we should get the Samsung GT-S9110 watch phone over this one. We'll have to see when they go head-to-head in the future.

Rogers Wireless Launching 21Mbps HSPA+ Network in Canada, First in North America

Labels: , , , ,

Starting this August, Rogers Wireless will be launching its new 21Mbps HSPA+ network. This launch will start in the GTA area (me!) and it will spread like a disease to the rest of the country in a couple of months. I'm certainly excited for this, so maybe I'll wait out until this roll-out starts before I sign up for a 2-year contract elsewhere. By the way, this new network will be almost 3x as fast as the current 7.2Mbps network. It's also going to be a first in North America, unless someone surprises us.
