LG Officially Announces The Aigen LG-GM730, Another WinMo 6.1 Handset

Labels: ,

Since MWC, this LG handset has popped up twice. Today, LG finally announced it. Here is the LG Aigen LG-GM730. It popped up on Phone Arena over a month ago, but it went throught a slight makeover. The main circle button has been changed to a rectangular one. Other than that, it looks like it has the same specs. The LG-GM730 has: a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, WiFi, aGPS, FM radio, dual-band 7.2Mbps support, a 5MP AF camera, and is available in the 3 colours above. This handset is just 11.9mm thick and it's going to be running WinMO 6.1, which isn't a good thing. It's now available in Korea, but the pricing stayed undisclosed.

Samsung Unveils More Omnia's, the Omnia II (I8000) and the Omnia LITE (B7300)

Labels: , , , , , ,

Samsung has already had a busy day, announcing the 2 Omnia Pro's and the Jet this morning. Well, they have just announced 2 more Omnia's, the Omnia II aka I8000 and the Omnia LITE (the B7300).

The Omnia II aka I8000 has already been unveiled, but this time it's official. The Omnia II has: a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display (world's largest for a phone, I believe), 480p video recording and playback, HSUPA 5.76Mbps / HSDPA 7.2Mbps, WiFi, up to 48GB of storage, the new TouchWiz 2.0 UI, "Advanced R Touch (Resistive Touch) that 'enables faster, more accurate touch response'", and will run on WinMo 6.1, but it will be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5 when it gets released. This looks like an awesome phone and it would be even better if it was upgradeable to WinMo 7.0. If the rumoured specs are true, we could also see an 8.1MP camera with dual-LED flash, a Qualcomm CPU, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The Omnia LITE is the B7300 that we saw last month. It has: a 3MP camera, TouchWiz 2.0 UI, Push e-mail support, Microsoft Office, Opera web browser, HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, aGPS, and is another touchscreen handset. If the rumoured specs are true, we could also see: a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD card slot, FM radio, and autofocus on the 3MP camera.

The pricing and availability for both handsets has not been mentioned yet, but the Omnia II will be hitting Verizon sometime this year.

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

This could be a lengthy post, but I'll try to shorten it as much as I can. Sit tight!

First up is the Asus Eee PC T91. If you remember, the T91 has: an 8.9-inch resistive touchscreen display, an Intel Atom 1.33GHz Z520 CPU, up to 2GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD, and will run on Windows XP Home. This baby is going to start shipping today! Keep an eye out for it.

Next up, it's the Asus Eee PC 1101HA netbook. It has: an 11.6-inch display, an Intel Atom 1.33GHz Z520 CPU, Intel's GMA graphics, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD. It will start shipping in Europe by the end of the month for €399 ($520 USD). It will be bundled with Windows XP and will be available in black or white. The 1101HGo is the 3G capable model of the 1101HA, but there has been no word on when it will be available.

Last, but not least, it's the Asus Eee Keyboard PC. This time, it's rocking Moblin - Intel's Linux-based OS - instead of the traditional Windows XP that we've seen time and time again. The specs stay the same: an Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 32 / 64GB of SSD storage, and possibly Wireless HDMI. The Keyboard PC is expected to launch by the end of the month for around $400 USD. There has been no word if the Moblin OS will be an option at launch. In the meantime, check out the video below for the Moblin demo.

Samsung Unveils Omnia Pro B7610 Louvre and B7320

Labels: , , ,

Way to make things confusing Samsung. They have just officially unveiled the Omnia Pro B7610 and the Omnia Pro B7320. The Omnia Pro B7610 is the more interesting of the two. It was originally leaked out on Friday as the B7610 Louvre, but it got its name changed to the Omnia Pro B7610. This may or may not be a good thing, since the i900 Omnia had a resistive touchscreen. I really hope Samsung went with capacitive here. This also semi-confirms what we heard back in April. The rumoured specs of the B7610 are pretty accurate, so check them out here.

Oh yes, Samsung also unveiled the Omnia Pro B7320. So far, the B7320 has a full QWERTY keypad, WinMo 6.1, WiFi, HSDPA, and 3G connectivity. We'll see what happens in the future. I'm excited for the Omnia Pro B7610, and I hope it launches in August.

Rumour: Dell's First Smartphone Leaked and Running Android

Labels: , , ,

There has been a lot of talk about Dell's future in the smartphone world and this could be their very first re-entry. This Dell smartphone has physical features that mimic the Palm Pre, but it doesn't look to me like it will be a slider. It looks like a plain touchscreen smartphone to me and in this picture it's running Android! That's always a smart move. This hasn't been confirmed to be Dell's smartphone, but it is another rumour. We'll just have to see where this leads us in the future.

Nokia E72 and 5530 XpressMusic Made Official

Labels: , ,

The Nokia E72 was leaked earlier this morning in a promo video on YouTube and the 5530 was leaked in early May and was supposedly the 5900 XpressMusic. Well, Nokia has just official unveiled both of the handsets in a Connection 09 event in Singapore. The E72 is the E71 successor and it has: a 5MP camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an integrated compass, 10.2Mbps HSDPA, and an optical pad. The Nokia E72 will be available in Q3 for €350 ($489 USD).

Next up is the 5530 XpressMusic, which was also revealed at the event. It's a downgrade from the old 5800 XpressMusic, but it does have: a 640 x 360 resolution touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera with an LED flash, a 3.5mm headphone jack, EDGE connectivity, and WiFi. If the earlier rumours are correct, the 5530 will also have: a 2.9-inch display and FM radio. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic will be available in Q3 as well, for €199 ($278 USD).
