Acer Confirms Their First Android-Based Netbook To Be Released In Q3

Labels: , , , ,

Acer's Jim Wong has confirmed (at Computex) that Acer will launch their first Android-based netbook in Q3 of this year. I'm hoping that it's slightly cheaper than netbooks nowadays because he also hinted that Windows XP adds around $25 USD to the base price. The Android netbooks will basically have the same internal specs that all the netbooks nowadays have, but the focus here is on the OS itself. So, like I said, expect one in Q3 and I'll make sure to have more information about it when it is announced.

Sony Announces Their Own Motion-Sensing Controller

Labels: , , , , , ,

Due to the Nintendo Wii's success with their motion-sensing controller, Microsoft announced their full-body motion sensing unit yesterday. Now Sony is also stepping into the same battlefield with their announcement of their own motion-sensing controller. "The prototype looks like a wand with a color-changing ball on top. It's designed to work in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye, with the wand overlaid on-screen with a weapon or tool." Sony also announced that this controller is targeted for a Spring 2010 launch, but they revealed no pricing on the controller.

This is a dislike for me. Huge, huge dislike. Motion-sensing controllers are just not my thing, too kiddish.

Final Fantasy XIV Online To Be Released In 2010

Labels: , , , , ,

Final Fantasy XIII is not even available yet and Sony has just announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be available in 2010 as well. The sad part is that it is an online MMO, similar to Final Fantasy XI. I'm sure it will be a significant upgrade to XI because I quit playing FFXI about 2 months after buying the game. The good news is that it could also be released for the PC because Sony announced that the PS3 will be the "only console" to have the game.

I was hoping that Square Enix wouldn't go back to do the whole online MMO thing, but it looks like they will be. So, 2010, we'll see if the date stands.

Windows 7 Will Be Released On October 22

Labels: , ,

Today is probably one of the biggest days in the past couple of weeks. With E3, Computex, and SID all taking place right now, a ton of news is pouring out. Unfortunately, I have a test tomorrow and I'm not going to be able to talk about absolutely everything, but I'll tell you - what I think - are the highlights of the day, so far.

Like the title says, Microsoft announced today that Windows 7 will be available on October 22, which actually makes Acer's October 23rd prediction wrong, but I'll cut them some slack. I know when I'll be getting a PC now.

Labels: , , ,

HTC is holding a press event on June 24th in London, UK and it could be for the HTC Hero. If you remember the HTC Hero is sporting the new "Donut" build of Google's Android OS. We'll see what happens at the event because this is just speculation, but you can mark down June 24 on your calendar if you're looking forward to the event.

HTC Dream and Magic Officially Available On Rogers

Labels: , , , , ,

Today is June 2, you know what that means? Rogers has just released the HTC Dream and the HTC Magic, which is Canada's first Android device. I also believe that this means we get the Magic before the Americans, since it hasn't officially launched down there yet. The sad part is that they cost $149.99 CAD on a 3-year contract.
