Acer Aspire Z5600 Multitouch All-in-One PC With 1080p and Windows 7

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Topping the eMachines all-in-one PCs, the Acer Aspire Z5600 is amazing - to say the least. The Z5600 is a 24-inch multitouch all-in-one PC with a 1080p resolution (Full HD baby!). It also has a built-in TV tuner, a Blu-ray recorder, up to 2TB of HDD storage, and is Windows 7 ready. In the picture, the all-in-one PC actually uses Windows 7, probably one of the later builds - one that implements the new Windows 7 Touch since it's going to be built into the OS. No word on price, availability or the rest of the spec sheet, but this looks like it could be one of the best all-in-one PCs to date. For more photos, make sure to click on the link below.

Small Peek At The eMachines All-in-One Desktop PCs

Labels: , , , ,

As you can see in this one shot of the Acer / Gateway / eMachines slideshow, these are the eMachines-branded all-in-one PCs. The 18.5-inch model will display 720p; meanwhile, the 23-inch model will have a multitouch display. Both PCs are said to be Windows 7 ready and will have "processor options ranging from Intel Atom to Core 2 Quad." They also announced a 10.1 and an 11.6-inch netbook, "both reportedly 23.55mm thick." I don't know which of the 3 companies made the netbook, but look out for the clarification tomorrow - most likely.

Update: The 10.1 and 11.6-inch netbook that is only 23.55mm thick - I believe - is the Acer Aspire One.

Acer Aspire Timeline Notebooks Announced

Labels: , , ,

Acer's been announcing a bunch of new products today at a live event in New Jersey. One of the hottest announcements right now is the Acer Aspire Timeline notebooks. They will come in 3 models: 13.3, 14.1, and 15.6-inches. They will all have: an LED-backlit display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, an Intel ULV processor (to go green), a multitouch touchpad, and HDMI and S/PDIF outputs. The Timeline notebooks boast an 8-hour battery life with an HDD and a 10-hour battery life with an SDD. There are 2 more amazing features: it's just 1-inch thick and it will be priced somewhere in between $699 to $899 USD range. If I was looking for a notebook right now I would definitely get this. It has an amazing spec sheet for such a small price. Let's hope it has more than 1GB of RAM and around a 250GB HDD, I'd be fine with that.

Amazon Also Increases DRM-Free Music To $1.29

Labels: , ,

This morning iTunes increased the price of their DRM-free music to $1.29 (for the more popular songs) and now Amazon has followed them. It's not entirely surprising that they increased their price but it is surprising that they increased their price on the exact same day without an official announcement. Looks like you're going to have to compare the two stores now to find the absolute best price for your music.

Toshiba's LED-Backlit REGZA LCD HDTVs

Labels: , ,

This is the ZX8000 (SV670 in the US) LED-backlit REGZA LCD HDTV with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It has a bunch of features that I know just about nothing about, so here you go. "These also pack the latest edition of Super Resolution+ upconverting, ClearScan 240Hz motion and fifth generation Pixel Pure image processing." "A few features anyone can appreciate are InstaPort HDMI for lagless switching between inputs and AutoView calibration for room lighting conditions. Add-on hard disk drives are also available, and the ZX8000 models are expected in late June / early July for 46- and 55-inch models topping out around 600,000 ($5,944 [USD])." I do know that 240Hz is supposed to get rid of blur and that a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio is supposed to give you great, bright colours. I still think that this TV is still overpriced but 240Hz is fairly new technology to hit TVs, so I guess it's understandable.

Acer's Nvidia Ion-based Nettop AspireRevo

Labels: , , ,

We've seen this nettop before. The Acer AspireRevo made its first official debut today alongside a bunch of other Acer products that I still have to talk about. This was shown off at CES with its Wii-like functionality. Hardware-wise, the AspireRevo doesn't disappoint. It has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 CPU, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 250GB of HDD, a 4-in-1 card reader, gigabit Ethernet, and six USB 2.0 / HDMI / VGA sockets. I almost forgot to mention that this small nettop is capable of handling 1080p (yes, even Blu-ray). It will run on Windows Vista and will have DirectX 10 support. What surprises me the most about this nettop is that it manages to pack in all of that hardware into such a small box (just 7.1 x 7.1 x 1.2-inches). As of right now, there is no word on the price or availability, but Engadget mentions that it should be available by the end of this quarter.

Gigabyte ThinNote S1024 and Booktop M1022 Spec Sheets

Labels: , ,

I've talked a bit about the Gigabyte Booktop M1022 when it was unveiled at CeBIT, but there's also a short look at the ThinNote S1024. The M1022 has the same specs that was shown off at CeBIT: a docking station, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, the Intel N270 or N280 Atom, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, optional WiMAX / HSDPA connectivity, a 6-cell battery, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, and will run on Windows XP Home. The ThinNote S1024, on the other hand, is a netbook with basically the same specs as the M1022. The pricing and availability is still unknown, but it shouldn't be too long of a wait.

All About Apple: iPod Touch To Have Camera, iPhone Video Recording, 802.11n, FM Transmitting

Labels: , , , ,

The latest job listing from Apple (that has now been changed) lists that they're looking for a Camera Engineering Project Manager (EPM) to bring camera modules to the iPhone and the iPod. This is really interesting and would make the iPod Touch an even more fascinating media player.

The photo you see above is, apparently, a supposed screenshot of "a revised camera app with a video toggle." This is further hinting at video capabilities for the iPhone and possibly even the iPod Touch. We'll see what happens in the near future. The iPhone could also have a slew of other additions, such as: Video Editing, 802.11n wireless connectivity, and an FM transmitter. The supposed 802.11n was found in the latest beta firmware (of course). This will increase WiFi speeds and could be found in a future iPhone / iPod Touch device. The least exciting news is that the latest chip in the iPhone could have an FM transmitter. Personally, I don't think it's needed but I'm sure other people out there would love it. The more features, the merrier!

Toshiba Cell TV To Make Its Debut This Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

Apparently, the most advanced TV-to-date, the Toshiba Cell is said to still be on schedule for a late 2009 release. The Toshiba Cell will have the Cell processor inside of it which is the same processor used inside of the PS3. "The Cell TV is a combination of a standalone box and television, which allows multiple feeds on one screen - up to eight HD feeds at once - or can transmit these feeds to various sets around your house." This TV looks really impressive - it has face recognition for movies - enough said. It was shown off at CES and also at a recent Toshiba product launch outside of London. The Toshiba Cell may be impressive, but the spec sheet has yet to be revealed. Don't expect this TV to be cheap, so save up some money if you're looking to buy one of these bad boys.

Intel's New Logo And Five-Star Rating Stickers

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Along with these new logo stickers from Intel you see above, they will also come with a 1 to 5 star rating. Bill Calder, Intel's spokeman, said that "now when a consumer goes into a Best Buy store they can distinguish between Centrino, Core, Celeron, Core 2 Duo, [and] Core 2 Quad." Personally, I like the new logos. It's a new look and tells you exactly what the CPU is and the 5 star rating is also a great addition.

Sprint Ad Shows Off The Palm Pre As Well As Twitter

Labels: , , , ,

I like Sprint's latest ad (below). I don't know what it is, but I love interesting facts like the ones they listed. Although some of them may not be the most accurate figures out there, it's still good to hear. Judging from the commercial, 26% of people watching the ad won't even know what "Twittering" means. I giggled a bit, but I made sure not to blink. Sprint ended the ad by showing off the sexy and upcoming Palm Pre. A stunning and well-thought out commercial. Take a look for yourself below.

Rumour: PSP 2 At This Year's E3; Will Be Released Before Christmas

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The new PSP 2 has apparently been confirmed according to the latest rumours. This is definitely the juiciest rumour of the day! The PSP 2 will be UMD-less, have dual thumbsticks [finally!!!!], and will be shown off and handled at this year's E3. The sliding screen will have touchscreen capabilities (hopefully multi-touch). In addition to all of these rumours, the last and possibly most important rumour of them all is the release date. The PSP 2 is said to be available before this Christmas!! Kids, make sure to have this on your letter to Santa! I don't like the whole going UMD-less because I'm not a fan of buying stuff online, but if it has to be done then let it be. Although I'm wondering if this is too little too late for Sony and the gang. What do you think?

Google Chrome For The Mac OS X Is Here; In An Unstable Way

Labels: , , , ,

The pre-alpha of Google Chrome for Mac users is now here. Don't get your hopes up because the Chrome build does not have plug-in support (no Flash), and is fairly unstable. Use it at your own risk. Google Chrome should be in beta form for Mac users by this Fall.

Sony Ericsson Idou To Be Released This October?

Labels: , , ,

Sony Ericsson's last hope is the Idou. According to recent reports, we could see the Sony Ericsson Idou as early as this October. The Idou is running on the Symbian OS, has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 12.1MP camera and has GPS. The Idou has been confirmed to be released in the second half of this year, but a German PR rep has said that it will be in retail stores come October - with November being the "fall-back" release date. It's just a rumour, so don't get your hopes up too high. On a side note, I think this is Sony Ericsson's last chance because they are on a huge downhill right now - and it doesn't look like they'll be able to recover anytime soon with their mediocre handsets.

iTunes Store Unleashes Their New Prices

Labels: , ,

The overpriced songs on the iTunes Store just got more expensive - some of them at least. I say expensive because I still download music illegally. Anyways, if you're one of the many people that love to give Apple your money then you can go right on ahead and purchase your DRM-free music off of the iTunes Store. The 3 price points are 69 cents, 99 cents, and $1.29 for buying songs on the iTunes Store. On a side note, you can get DRM-free music from Amazon for just 99 cents which is cheaper - for the most part. Choose who you want to buy your music from wisely. But, we all know how hard it is to get sucked into Apple's black hole...

Another Look At The Colourful Dell Inspiron Lineup

Labels: , , , ,

To stand out just a tiny bit, Dell has shown us a new lineup of desktop Inspiron PCs - well, not exactly. We saw the mini-towers a while back, so the above photo is a shot of the regular / fat casing. I might as well go through the long list of features (since I found out afterwards that I've already talked about this before). The Inspiron 545 and 545s will come in a bunch of colours and is highly upgradeable. They will be available later this Spring and will have a base price of just £279 ($299 USD). These colourful Inspiron's have up to 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of HDD storage, an optional HDMI and 6 USB ports, and a Blu-ray drive. "You have the choice of Intel Celeron, Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Quad options or AMD Sepron, Athlon X2 and Phenom X4 processor options and an integrated Intel or ATI Radeon graphics card." As you can see the possibilities are just about endless. I'd consider getting myself one, but I'm already satisfied with my own desktop PC for now. I'll probably be looking for a new one around the release of Starcraft 2.

HP Pavilion Dv2 Notebook Now Available For Just $749

Labels: , , , , ,

We got our first look at this baby at CES and it's now available - and for just $749 USD. The HP Pavilion Dv2 notebook will have: a 12.1-inch screen with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, AMD's new Neo 1.6GHz processor, ATI's Mobility Radeon HD3410 graphics card, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, and a DVD drive. If the earlier specs from CES are true, it will weigh just 3.8 pounds while managing to be just an inch thick. It will also come with other options, such as: Bluetooth, an HDMI port, an integrated webcam, up to 500GB of HDD storage, 802.11n, WiFi and WWAN support, and a Blu-ray drive. This notebook looks like a good piece of plastic from HP, don't forget that it's now available for a base price of just $749 USD. Oh yes, since this is a notebook and not a netbook it will be running on Windows Vista 64-bit.

Gigabyte TouchNote T1028 Shows Up In The Wild

Labels: , , ,

The Gigabyte T1028 was first seen at CeBIT earlier this year and it has just found its way to the FCC. The tablet / netbook PC has a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with some swivel action, a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU, a 92% sized keyboard which isn't too small, HSDPA connectivity, up to 2GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, Bluetooth, Ethernet, WiFi, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, and a 4-cell battery. You will also have the option of upgrading to: a 1.66GHz N280 Atom CPU, WiMAX, a 1,366 x 768 resolution, and a 6-cell battery which should be a mandatory upgrade. Anyways, the price or availability is still to be determined, so we'll just have to keep on our toes until then.
