The Office Season 6, Text Messaging, Firefox 3.1 Beta 3, Final Fantasy 13 Release Date

Labels: , , ,

So, 'The Office' will be back for a 6th season! By the way, there is a new episode tonight, so i have to watch that. Anyways, 'The Office' is this season's #1 comedy in adults, which puts them second in the ranking as an overall comedy. There's also a bunch of other news in the press conference, so if you want to read up on that, you're welcome to click the links below.

A couple of days ago there was a story about a 13 year old girl who sent over 14,000 text messages in a month. I thought that was ludicrous. But, what i read today was even more shocking. "Sprint has confirmed that a 14-year old Florida girl sent / received around 35,463 text messages in a month on two separate occasions. That works out to 1,182 a day." I read that and my jaw dropped, but the text messaging craze doesn't end here. Apparently, in the Guinness world record book, Deepak Sharma (a grown man) holds the current world record for sending 182,689 messages in one month. Yes, you read that right. This comes out to 6,100 messages a day, which is about 4.2 messages a minute. I don't really know how you can manage to send 4.2 messages a minute, but congratulations? I guess.

The Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 has been delayed. It was supposed to hit us on January 26. But, it is now going to be available on February 2, which is a week later than scheduled. That's all the news there.

Do you live in Japan? Well, if you do, then consider yourself lucky. You will see Final Fantasy 13 by the end of this year. Oh wait, what was that? You don't live in Japan? Well, that sucks. Because, it will not be released anywhere outside of Japan until after April 2010. "A release date for Final Fantasy Versus XIII or Final Fantasy Agito XIII hasn't been mentioned." It sucks because i was expecting it this year, but it looks like it won't happen. Scratch Final Fantasy XIII off of your Santa wish-list this year.

Dell's 22-inch Monitor, Philips Cinema 21:9 TV, Worm Infects 1.1M in 24 Hours, Palm Pre at Best Buy, PSP Survey

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Even though i did say in my blog post, last night, that i would only be making one post today, i may be lying. This is only because during my lunch, which is right now, i was supposed to be installing Windows 7, but i can't. Apparently, if you try to install Windows 7 on a laptop, it must be plugged in. This is because if the battery shuts off, you can lose important information. It kind of sucks, but i'll do the installation at home because i got the ISO CD from my friend. Anyways, let's start it up.

The Dell 2209WA 22-inch LCD monitor was recently reviewed by CNET. They basically said that it was "the best 22-inch monitor we've seen." They also said that it has "excellent color and viewing angles and great gaming performance." It also had a reasonable price tag. This laptop looks pretty nice, except for the chubbiness. Judging from this angle, it looks like the monitor may be pretty thick. I like the monitor's stand, but the thickness really bugs me. I also prefer the shiny frame too, like the Samsung monitor from yesterday, that i talked about. I don't know the exact price, but Engadget did mention that it was "a fantastic price point." But, if you're looking for a new 22-inch LCD monitor for your everyday use, here it is.

Philips is introducing a new ultra-widescreen LCD TV. "The Cinema 21:9 is said to be the planet's first cinema-proportioned LCD TV, and of course, it'll also incorporate Ambilight technology around the borders. This TV looks pretty interesting and it's pretty wide to say the least. There is no price range for these, right now, but they are said to be shipping out during the Spring. There will be a site launching for this TV on the 29th, later this month. It looks shiny and i like the widescreen-ness, but i'm not even sure if this kind of ultra-widescreen is supported in some DVD's today.

There is now a computer worm that has already "infected more than a million PCs in the past 24 hours." So, if you're going to do your browsing, make sure that it is on a safe site. This is what happens when Microsoft cannot patch up their holes in-time. This hole has actually been around for months, but Microsoft has decided to take their sweet time in patching it up. Hopefully, Google will be better at this than Microsoft. Let's go Google, make that Android OS, quick. We need Google to save us all.

So, the new Palm Pre, which is scheduled to be released sometime in the first half of 2009, is receiving it's first batch of rumours. This rumour mentions that the Palm Pre will be exclusively held at Best Buy and Sprint stores, for the first couple of months. Apparently, "the rumor looks pretty solid." It'll be interesting to see if Palm can survive the downturn of the economy with this phone. It has good potential, but will it be the iPhone killer? I don't think so and it's because some people just worship Apple way too much. Everyone, nowadays, just has to get the newest Apple product, no matter what it is and no matter what the price is. Yes, their stuff are good (for lack of a better word), but the price is outrageous at times. The Pre won't be an iPhone killer because it will also be too expensive at launch. It may sell-out at launch, but it won't top the iPhone's sales because Apple just has too much momentum. Anything they make, just 'sells like hotcakes.' Even if Apple decided to create the Macbook Wheel, i'm sure people would still buy that. I bet someone actually thought it was real and wanted to pre-order it. I like Apple and they're a great company. I have an iPod Nano. Their iPhone is also a great device, i'm not going to lie. I don't really know what the point of this rant was and what it proved or didn't prove. But, anyways, we have 2 great devices here. I like the Palm Pre and the iPhone, but the bottom line is that the Apple product will always sell more.

So, there is the rumour about the new PSP and Sony has already denied it many times. But, were they being serious? Their new survey asks their consumers about what they would like to see in the new PSP2. Is the PSP2 real or not? We'll see, i hope it's true because i don't want to own a Nintendo DSi, which is going to be released soon. Yes, i know you can't see the survey that is pictured, but if you want to read more about it, you can read about it in the link below. It's a pretty interesting survey. Hopefully, Sony can finally build their DSi killer.

CoD:WaW Passes GoW 2, Google's Troubles, Windows 7 Review

Labels: , , , , ,

So, the numbers are in. Call of Duty: World at War has just passed Gears of War 2 on units sold. To date, World at War has sold 4.34 million units, compared to Gears of War 2's reported 4.30 million. I've heard from many people that this new Call of Duty: World at War is actually worse than the last one, called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It'll be surprising to see how much the next Call of Duty sells. The main reason why people may be buying Call of Duty: World at War is because you can easily mistake it for World of Wacraft. Get it? World at War (WaW) and World of Warcraft (WoW). Maybe a possible collaboration soon. Call of Duty: WoW anyone? It's a [bad] joke.

So, we all know how much i love Google, well i am sad to say that, today, i must reveal bad news. Google is shutting down. Okay, i'm joking. Wait, maybe not entirely. "Included among the upcoming closures are: Google Notebooks, Google Catalogs, Dodgeball, Google Video, Google Mashup Editor, and future development of Jaiku." Looks like a lot of things are going down-the-drain in the Google camp. I don't really know what Jaiku is, but Techcrunch mentions that it will be "ported to Google App Engine, and will be released as an open source project on Google Code." Yes. Well, i guess that refers to programmers, so that's not for me. The Mashup Editor will also be sucked into the Google App Engine's black hole. Dodgeball was something made by Google to allow users "to share their current locations using SMS messages." "Google Notebook will continue to function for current users, but will no longer accept new ones." But, whoever uses Google Notebook will have to do so, without the use of it's browser extension, "which makes the service significantly useful." Time to find a replacement for all of you that use that. Google Catalogs. Why did they even make this? Oh, well. The biggest news on this list is definitely the one about Google Video. In a few months, the uploading capabilities will be disabled. This should have actually been done a while ago, since Google already purchased the most popular video site, Youtube, just over 2 years ago. Techcrunch mentioned that if Google is going to shut down some of their programs, Knol might be up next. Knol was Google's attempt to take down Wikipedia, but it never happened / worked.

So, whether you like it or not, you will be getting a Windows 7 Review from me. That is, if all things go well. Lifehacker has provided me with the information in order to dual-boot my computer, so that i can use Windows XP and the new Windows 7, whenever i feel like it. Hopefully, my friend brings his burned Windows 7 ISO copy to school tomorrow, so that i can install it on my laptop during lunch. If i get it successfully installed, i will be using it starting Saturday. On Thursday, i will be studying for my Math test, which is on the next day (Friday). On Friday, i will be at my girlfriend's house for the majority of the night. That leaves me at Saturday, which will be the day i review Windows 7. Right now, i don't really know how i am supposed to 'review' it. But, i guess i will find out a way to. Anyways, until tomorrow, i'm out. By the way, only expect one blog post tomorrow.
