Sprint Cuts Palm Pre Price To $149; Palm Pixi Is Official, And Looking Ugly

Labels: , , , , ,

Sprint has just cut the price of the Palm Pre to $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract. There's not much else to say here, but don't forget to read past the next picture.

The rumour was true, the ugly thing you above is the Palm Pixi and it's like the Palm Eos without the optical trackpad. That's right, it's official! This handset reportedly has: a 2.63-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 320 x 400 resolution, a full QWERTY keypad, a 2MP camera with a flash, 8GB of internal memory, and EV-DO Rev. A connectivity. So, this handset does not have WiFi and we'll see how good the touchscreen does since HTC mentioned that capacitive touchscreens "aren't accurate" on smaller touchscreens - that's why they put a resistive touchscreen on the HTC Tattoo.

Anyways, this handset will be hitting Sprint this holiday season, but the exact release date and price hasn't been mentioned yet. Since it's cheap-looking and the specs aren't too flashy, it should probably launch under the $100 mark. You can check out this Engadget link for a couple of videos on the Pixi. I think it looks ugly, but Engadget thinks otherwise.
