China Unicom Launching the iPhone This September?

Labels: , , , , ,

If everything goes as planned then China Unicom will be selling the iPhone this September. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be an iPhone without WiFi, but it will have 3G support. At this point, we don't know which iPhone they will launch - the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS - but China Unicom hopes that they'll be able to sell somewhere between 1 to 2 million units, since that's how much they're ordering from Apple. It's supposedly going to hit the Chinese market cheaper than the knock-off's. They plan to sell cheap iPhone's on a contract, so that could be a good thing. September is just a guess though because they're still working on "resolving issues".
