Acer Hornet Nettop Is The Wii In Disguise

Labels: , , , ,

Meet the Acer Hornet nettop. We've been hearing about it for a while now, but it looks like this could be the real thing. It has 1080p video playback via HDMI, the Intel Atom N230, 1GB of RAM, 80GB HDD and will run on Windows Vista Home Basic. You can upgrade the nettop to a model with 2GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, "Boxshell" - a way to boot the OS nice and quick - and will run on Windows Vista Home Premium. If you get the so-called Media Center version, the Hornet will come with the Wii-like remote [above] that you can use for gaming and for media controls. It's like a Wii but in HD; take that Nintendo. As good as this sounds, I think the Wii has the upperhand here. It does have a cheap price range, which is always good. How does $149 to $299 USD sound? I certainly love it, but I'm not going to dish out the money for it. It's a very great nettop though.
