Sony Officially Changes the Name of the S2 to the Tablet P, Hitting the US This Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

Sony has brought one of their unique tablets to IFA this year and we've previously known it as the S2. Well, the company has decided to name it the Sony Tablet P and it'll be hitting the US later this year. It's also going to be hitting Europe this November so that's great news. Unfortunately, the AT&T model is said to be 3G only so don't expect a WiFi-only model or a 4G (HSPA+ or LTE) one. Price is still unknown right now.

In case you forgot, this tablet sports dual 5.5-inch displays (1,024 x 800 resolution), a 5MP camera, a VGA front-facing camera, an SD card slot, a Tegra 2 CPU, 4GB of storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Android "Honeycomb".

Android-Based Sony Walkman Prototype Shows Itself At IFA

Labels: , , ,

Just like Samsung it looks like Sony is going to be releasing an Android-based PMP as well. This prototype is going to be sporting the Walkman branding and should have some decent specs. Apparently, this one features a 4.3-inch display, an HDMI output, DLNA, and Android 2.3 with a custom UI. This PMP may or may not hit the market later this year but it is in prototype form. The complete spec sheet is unknown right now so we'll have to wait for that.

Samsung SGH-i727 Hits the FCC, Sports AT&T LTE

Labels: , , , ,

Yet another Samsung device has hit the FCC and it's the SGH-i727. This smartphone packs AT&T LTE (4G) connectivity so it should be hitting the market later this year. Apparently, this one features a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED+ display so it definitely looks like this is the Rogers Samsung Galaxy S II LTE. It's unknown whether this is headed to AT&T especially since they have the Galaxy S II but it's always a possibility. Check it out at the FCC.

HTC Announces the 3.8-Inch Radar and the 4.7-Inch Titan, Both WP7 "Mango"

Labels: , , , ,

HTC has just announced two upcoming Windows Phone 7 Mango devices, the Radar and the rumoured Titan. The Radar is the lower-end of the two since it's a mid-end device. This one features a 3.8-inch Super LCD display, 8GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, and a 1,520mAh battery. This one will reportedly be available sometime next month (October) in Europe in white and silver models. Price is unknown right now but it should be less than the $199 standard - on a 2-year contract.

Here's the one that's been popping up on the rumour mill lately. It's the HTC Titan which packs a large 4.7-inch WVGA display. Sadly, this one still only features a single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 1GHz CPU along with a 5MP camera. It also features 16GB of storage, a microHDMI port, an 8MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, and a 1,600mAh battery. This may be sporting a large face but it's just 9.9mm thin which is pretty good. This one's also set to hit the market this October in Europe.

Lenovo Announces the 7-Inch A1 Tablet, Set To Be $199

Labels: , , , ,

Looks like Lenovo is going to try to take some of the low-end tablet market with the IdeaPad A1. This Android tablet is stuck with "Gingerbread" and will pack last year's specs. The A1 features a 7-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, dual cameras, up to 32GB of storage, a magnesium alloy body, and access to the Android Market and the Lenovo app store.

This tablet is going to be hitting the market this September for just $199 which is fairly good if you can't get your hands on an HP Touchpad which should be crawling its way back into the market in a few weeks. Looks like Samsung should drop their 7-inch Galaxy Tab prices as well.

Samsung Announces the Galaxy WiFi 3.6 PMP

Labels: , , ,

Samsung has just announced another device that will try to compete with the likes of the iPod Touch. What you see above is the Samsung Galaxy WiFi 3.6. The name already tells you that it packs a 3.6-inch HVGA touchscreen display. Sadly, the specs seem to be slouching and are only on pace for last year's iPod Touch models.

This Galaxy WiFi 3.6 features a 2MP rear-facing camera, a front-facing camera, a 1GHz OMAP CPU, 8GB / 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and Android 2.3. There aren't any radios inside because you'll have to browse around using WiFi so this may or may not be your ideal device. This will be hitting the UK this October for £149 ($241 USD) and £169 ($274 USD) if you're interested.

Labels: , , ,

The Galaxy Note features a touch-optimized interface called "S Pen" which will allow you to browse through the UI with relative ease. The price is unknown right now but Samsung has mentioned that they're hard at work talking to various carriers around the world.

Toshiba has just unveiled their latest notebook and it's no slouch. If you're into thin notebooks then this ultrabook may be for you. It's the Portege Z830 which is packing a 13.3-inch display (1,366 x 768 resolution) along with a backlit and spill-resistant keyboard and a magnesium body which should be durable enough for you. Samsung Announces the Windows 7 Powered 11.6-Inch Series 7 Slate

Labels: , , , ,

Samsung may have unveiled the sexy Series 7 notebooks just yesterday but it looks like they have yet another product in the pipeline. What you see above is the Samsung Series 7 Slate which is going to be running Windows 7 - but should be upgradeable to Windows 8. Either way Samsung feels like they'll be able to sell a bunch of these but it'll be tough when it starts at $1,099.

Beneath the 11.6-inch 400-nit display (1,366 x 768 resolution and Wacom-enabled) it packs an Intel Core i5-2467M CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 64GB / 128GB SSD, a 3MP camera, a front-facing 2MP webcam, a stylus, and a 30-second boot time. Of course, it also has a bunch of ports like a microHDMI, a SIM card slot, and a USB port. It's a pretty good tablet but I don't feel like Windows 7 is the ideal tablet OS though some people may disagree.

AT&T Announces the HTC Puccini As the Jetstream, Sports LTE

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

AT&T has officially announced the HTC Jetstream which you may have seen before as the Puccini. This one packs a 10.1-inch WXGA display with digital pen support, a dual-core Qualcomm 1.5GHz CPU, an 8MP camera, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 4G (LTE) connectivity, a microSD card slot, a 0.51-inch thin body, and Android 3.1 with the Sense UI. The tablet also supports HSPA+ just in case you're not in an LTE zone.

The tablet is set to hit the carrier on September 4th and will cost you a whopping $699.99 on a 2-year contract which is definitely way too much money - though some may disagree. For 3GB of data per month it'll cost you $35 but they will have cheaper plans (250MB for $15, 2GB for $25).
