7-Inch HTC Flyer Android-Based Tablet Specs Leak, Not All That Impressive

Labels: , , , ,

Coming from Amobil, is word on some rumoured specs on the Android-based HTC Flyer tablet. This tablet is reportedly going to feature a 7-inch touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a Qualcomm MSM8255 1GHz CPU, an HDMI port, a 5MP rear-facing camera with an LED flash, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, HSPA connectivity, DLNA support, and an unknown version of Android which will have a remodeled "Sense" UI (possibly Sensation) that will give the tablet a desktop feel to it. A few days ago we heard that it could be running Android 2.3 though, which is a let down. Apparently, there'll be another model with LTE (4G) connectivity for Verizon but the release date is unknown.

The website has also mentioned that HTC is working on a 10-inch Android tablet as well.

Sony's Next PSP To Have 3G Support and OLED Display?

Labels: , , ,

Coming from Nikkei (subscription required), is word on a few more PSP2 specs. According to the firm, the next gaming handheld machine from Sony will feature an OLED touchscreen display along with 3G connectivity. Of course, Sony should be implementing both of those things because they should be doing their best to make things future-proof. Unfortunately, 4G connectivity isn't everywhere right now so they can't really put that in. Thankfully, there should be WiFi b/g/n support on-board so you'll be able to do all your downloading on there if you need a large file. Other specs are still unknown right now but we should actually know them all in a few days - the 27th!

White Google Nexus S Leaks, Likely Destined For Europe

Labels: , , , ,

BestBoyz has just got a picture of Google's latest. Well, not really. It's just the Samsung-made Google Nexus S with a white back. Unlike the white iPhone 4 that still has to the market, this one only has a white back and stays with the traiditional black front. We don't know if the US will get this one but it should be hitting certain places of Europe.

Bell To Launch the HTC HD7 On Feb. 10th, Motorola Atrix On March 17?

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

A leaked document coming from someone at Bell Canada has just leaked two important devices for the carrier. The first one is their next Windows Phone 7 device, the HTC HD7. According to the leaked doc, this one will be available on February 10th which is a few days before MWC begins. The HD7 is extremely similar to other Windows Phone 7 devices and it has a large 4.3-inch display on it.

The other is for their HSPA+ capable device, the Motorola Atrix. The Atrix, on the other hand, is a more exciting handset with a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, a 5MP camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth / WiFi support, Flash 10.1 support, a 1,930mAh battery, and Android 2.2 with MOTOBLUR. If you believe the image above then the Atrix will be available in Canada, via Bell, on March 17th.

Nokia's MeeGo-Based Tablet Leaks; Too Little, Too Late

Labels: , ,

A tablet coming from Nokia has just leaked and it's running the MeeGo OS. This is likely still in prototype form but maybe we'll be seeing it unveiling within the month - during MWC. Specs are unknown right now and it doesn't look like it's sporting a front-facing camera. It looks like a decent first attempt from the company but they definitely have to keep up with the times. They have dual-cameras on their smartphones so they should definitely implement one if they ever release a tablet.

9.7-Inch HP Palm Topaz WebOS-Based Tablet Specs Leak, Announcement Soon?

Labels: , , , ,

Coming from Pre Central is a bit more information on HP / Palm's webOS-based Topaz tablet. The spec sheet has just leaked out and the tablet that we've all been waiting for features: a 9.7-inch touchscreen display, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 CPU, an Adreno 220 GPU, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR / WiFi b/g/n support, a 1.3MP webcam, 16GB / 32GB / 64GB of internal storage, optional WWAN, accelerometer / gyroscope / light sensor, a microphone, and a battery that will apparently last for eight hours.

Sadly, these specs are unconfirmed right now and they're reportedly from last Fall so things could've changed for the better or worse. Man, we can't wait for this one to be officially announced. It's this, the Motorola XOOM, and the next iPad for the first spot in the tablet world this year. I have a feeling there are too many Apple lovers though, so the iPad will come out on top.

Update: Another Pre Central post has just mentioned some tweaks that HP / Palm will be doing to webOS for this tablet. This includes things like tabbed browsing and a bunch of new multitouch gestures. For a full list just head over to their website.

HTC Merge Surfaces Again, This Time Headed To Alltel

Labels: , , , , , , ,

It was supposed to hit Verizon a while ago, but the HTC Merge has, well, emerged once again. This time it's headed to Alltel since Verizon has enough devices up their sleeve. It might not be hitting Verizon anymore, but at least it's headed to at least one carrier in the US: Alltel. Specs should be the exact same, but they're unconfirmed right now. Maybe an official unveiling will be at MWC.

WP7-Based HTC Arrive and Kyocera Echo (Sanyo Orange) On Its Way To Sprint?

Labels: , , , , ,

Two new handsets look like they're Sprint bound if Engadget's tipster is correct. First we have the HTC Arrive which will reportedly be the company's next Windows Phone 7 device. Let's hope it doesn't have anything silly like a flip-out speaker or something. The other handset is going to be the Kyocera Echo which could eventually hit the market as the Sanyo Orange - an even weirder name. Like I said, both could be Sprint-bound so we'll have to wait and see if it really happens. Maybe an MWC announcement for both.
