Samsung SGH-T959V Spotted at the FCC, Likely the T-Mobile Bound Vibrant 4G

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Something new from Samsung has just been spotted at the FCC with the model number SGH-T959V. If you recall, the original Vibrant from Samsung has the model number SGH-T959 so this is likely the Vibrant 4G that should be hitting T-Mobile in about a month's time. From the image above, it definitely has the shape of a Galaxy S and it also has AWS support which is good enough for a T-Mobile 3G / 4G device. Check it out at the FCC.

CherryPal's Next 7-Inch CherryPad Android Tablet Gets Detailed

Labels: , , ,

CherryPal looks like they're readying their next 7-inch CherryPad Android tablet and it'll be much better than last year's $188 tablet that they made. This one will be packing a 1,024 x 600 resolution capacitive touchscreen display, a 3MP rear-facing AF camera with an LED flash, a front-facing VGA camera, a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, 512MB of RAM, 8GB / 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 / GPS support, an HDMI port, WiFi, a GSM antenna, a light sensor, and an accelerometer. This one will be shipping with Android 2.2 at the very least. Apparently, the announcement should be coming up soon.

It's pretty good for the price which will be somewhere between $300 and $400, but we're hearing that the iPad's entry-level price could drop slightly so maybe it won't be worth it in the end. It seems a bit expensive for a $400 tablet but it's decent for a $300 one. Then again, I do suggest just saving up money for an iPad since it's just a bit more expensive and it's guaranteed to work. Oh well, nice try CherryPal.

First Pictures and Details Of HP Palm's 7 and 9-inch WebOS Tablets Leak!

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Engdaget has just picked up some amazing exclusive information regarding HP / Palm. What you see above is a render of what a future HP / Palm webOS-based tablet. The companies are actually working on two models: the 7-inch "Opal" and a larger 9-inch "Topaz" which we've heard of before. Judging from the renders, you can tell that there's a front-facing camera, no buttons (likely because of multitouch gestures), a microUSB port, and three speakers.

The website is hearing that units will start hitting Palm HQ in June of this year and production for launch won't start until later this year. Apparently, the WiFi-only, AT&T 3G, and Verizon LTE models of the 7-inch "Opal" will be available in September 2011, while the AT&T LTE model won't be available until July 2012 which is so far away from now. Fortunately, they're hearing that the 9-inch "Topaz" may actually be available sooner than the Opal so maybe we'll be seeing a Summer 2011 launch for it. Inside you should find a 1.2GHz CPU in both of them. I just can't wait until February 9th.

Update: Coming from DigiTimes via Engadget, is word that Inventec is planning to ship an HP Palm tablet to the market in March of this year. Of course, this would mean that the "Topaz" is almost ready so let's just wait for them to announce it on February 9th. Could the first webOS-based tablet be in our hands in about 6 weeks? Man, I hope this is true.

Update: Another post coming from Engadget has just mentioned even more bits of information! Apparently, both of these tablets that HP / Palm will be bringing to the market will have access to 10GB of cloud storage, Beats audio, Tap-to-Share smartphone integration, Flash support, and it'll be capable of charging wirelessly with a Touchstone dock. Palm is also said to be working on a few more handsets, but they're reportedly "nothing too amazing" right now so let's hope that changes in the near future with a new flagship webOS smartphone.

3G BlackBerry Playbook Hitting AT&T In April, LTE Model Shortly After?

Labels: , , , , , ,

We haven't heard much about the BlackBerry Playbook recently but it looks like it may be ready for AT&T soon. Apparently, the 3G model will be hitting AT&T in early April, which could mean that it'll definitely be competing head-to-head with the next Apple iPad which should arrive in the same month. Furthermore, the AT&T LTE model could actually be available soon after, so maybe in Summer of this year or something like that. We'll just have to wait and see but keep in mind that this is unconfirmed right now. I wonder when it'll be hitting Canada.

A new handset from Samsung has just been approved by the GCF and it's the Samsung S5830. We've heard of this handset before as the Galaxy S Mini but we recently heard that it'll hit the market as the Galaxy Ace and the Galaxy Cooper. Well, whatever the name is, it's confirmed to have quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE / dual-band UMTS/HSDPA 850/2100MHz connectivity. The website mentions that it also has its WiFi Alliance certificate so we know that it has 802.11 b/g/n support. Look out for the announcement at MWC.

HP Wants To Put WebOS On Tablets and Netbooks Too, Could It Happen Soon?

Labels: , , , , ,

On February 9th, HP is holding an event and we should see a webOS-based tablet at the event. Well, if you take a look at their website (here) you'll see that webOS could actually show up on a netbook as well which would be pretty interesting. We'll have to see exactly how that works out and how they'll actually work together - if they can. Even though webOS isn't a popular OS, the potential is there especially since Palm was acquired by HP. Hopefully we'll see some extraordinary new devices on the 9th!
