WWDC 2011 Starts On June 6th, Showing Off iOS and Mac OS X; Next iPhone Too?

Labels: , , , , , ,

Apple looks like they're going to be starting WWDC 2011 this year on June 6th which is a Monday. Usually, this is where the company unveils the next iPhone but recent rumours suggest that this might not be the case this time around. It says that we'll be joining them "for a preview of the future of iOS and Mac OS X" so we should get another look at Lion as well as iOS 5 - hopefully, release dates on both. We're still crossing our fingers for the next-generation iPhone to be announced.

Though I'm sure there were hardware announcements in the past at WWDC, by-and-large it has been about the OS, not hardware. Not sure why everyone (general public at large) got their panties in a bunch thinking there might be a new iPhone announced, or updated Macs.

To me, I think it's just surprising since we've seen an iPhone unveiled at the past 3 events. Apple's really keen to sticking to their yearly releases, so for them to be delaying an iPhone launch is a big thing. Software is always good too, cause that's definitely important!
