Sony "S1" Tablet To Run "Honeycomb" and Focus On Qriocity, Launch This September

Labels: , , , ,

An exclusive coming from Engadget has just mentioned that Sony is indeed working on an Android "Honeycomb" powered tablet and it's being codenamed the "S1" internally. This tablet will be sporting a 9.4-inch display and actually might not launch with the traditional VAIO branding. The tablet's focus is reportedly on Qriocity which is "Sony's music, games, ebooks, and videos on demand service that's just been launched in Europe." It'll have PlayStation integration so you can expect them to put lots of support behind their own PlayStation Suite.

Internals reportedly include a 1,280 x 800 resolution display, a Tegra 2 CPU, dual-cameras, a USB port, and an IR port. One source has actually mentioned that this will be the most beautiful thing that Sony has ever put out. This device (if everything goes as planned) will be launching in September for $599 which is going to be the WiFi-only model.
