Labels: , , ,

As expected, Gingerbread along with the Nexus S (officially!) was with Eric Schmidt (Google's CEO) at the Web 2.0 conference. Anyways, this device will have NFC (Near-Field Communication) features so that you'll be able to pay with your phone if you want to do that. Someone asked if this was the Nexus 2 and Eric was sure to mention the fact that he did say their wouldn't be a Nexus 2; he emphasized the "2". Eric mentioned that Gingerbread along with the Nexus S - on T-Mobile - will be available in a few weeks (seems to be right before Christmas).

Verizon Announces the LG Vortex and the Cosmos Touch, Launching On November 18th

Labels: , , , , , ,

Verizon has just announced two handsets that they'll be launching and the first one is the LG Vortex (left in the picture above). This one's a bit surprising. The Vortex will actually launch for $79.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 rebate, which is way more than the free price we were expecting. Anyways, the Vortex features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP AF camera, a microSD card slot, Bing as the default search engine, WiFi / Bluetooth 2.1, the Swype keyboard, and Android 2.2.

The other handset (on the right in the picture above) is the LG Cosmos Touch. This one features a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.1 support, a microSD card slot, and a 1.3MP camera. This will be available for $49.99 on a 2-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate if you're interested.

Both of these handsets will be available starting on November 18th which is three days away.

Labels: , , , , , ,

In Canada, Rogers has become the first carrier to launch the 7-inch Android Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet. Obviously, they want you to buy the contract-free one because those prices are just a rip off.

The Galaxy Tab is like a large Captivate that the carrier already has so you get a 7-inch LCD display (1,024 x 600 resolution), a 3MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MPfront-facing camera, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, Android 2.2, and Flash support. This 7-inch model packs a WVGA multitouch display, a 600MHz ARM CPU, a microSD card slot, and rear and front-facing cameras. $600 is quite a bit to pay for a tablet with a mediocre 600MHz ARM CPU, you can get the Galaxy Tab for the same price which seems to be the better deal. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X12 (Anzu) Will Cost A Whopping €650 Unsubsidized

Labels: , , , , ,

We've already heard that Sony Ericsson is working on a new Android-based smartphone, the XPERIA X12 or the Anzu. Just like we heard, this should be launching in the first half of 2011 and it'll actually cost you a whopping €650 ($886 USD) when it hits the market. That might sound worth it right now (to some crazy people), but by the time it actually hits the market it'll be lagging behind the competition.

We already heard that Eldar got his hands on a next-gen Galaxy S smartphone with a dual-core CPU and we know that the Anzu (or X12) that's being rumoured right now features a single-core 1GHz CPU. Maybe SE will upgrade the internals after they see that they're getting smoked.
