BlackBerry Storm 3 To Hit Verizon's LTE Network, New / Unique OS?

Labels: , , , , ,

According to BlackBerry Cool, the BlackBerry Storm 3 will be quite the upgrade over its predecessors. Apparently, the smartphone is being tested in a private beta which isn't surprising and that it's being disguised in a Storm 2 case - I don't know if this one's actually real or not. Anyways, it'll supposedly feature 8GB of internal storage, a new screen we haven't seen yet, and apparently an entirely new OS - possibly not OS 6. This smartphone will be hitting Verizon and could also be one of their first LTE phones. None of this is confirmed right now so take it with a grain - or more - of salt.

Samsung has just announced another netbook and this one has a feature that should stand out a bit. The standard battery on this netbook should actually last 7 hour but if you choose the larger one you could get up to 13.8-hours of life which is pretty sweet. The netbook itself comes packed with a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, a VGA webcam, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, optional 3G connectivity, and Windows 7. Galaxy S Headed To Verizon Too, As the Samsung Fascinate! -- US Cellular Getting One Too

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Out of nowhere, Verizon has announced that they'll be launching the Samsung Fascinate. The picture above may not be what it looks like but the smartphone will be another Galaxy S variant. AT&T's should be getting official soon and Sprint already has their Epic 4G so they don't need this one. This smartphone packs a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, a 5MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, and Android 2.1 with Touchwiz 3.0. I'm starting to sound like a broken record. Price and release dates are still TBA.

Update: According to Boy Genius, US Cellular will also be getting a Galaxy S variant. The price, release date, and name of their variant haven't been mentioned though.

Verizon Launching the DROID 2 On August 23rd With Android 2.2?

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to a new rumour from Android and Me, we could be seeing the Motorola DROID 2 hit Verizon in about two months. The latest rumour pegs the DROID 2 for an August 23rd launch date for a price of $199.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. Apparently, it'll be launching with Android 2.2 on-board so that's great news.  Of course, it'll be packing a TI OMAP3640 1GHz CPU so that's just about the biggest improvement over the original DROID. The keyboard should also be slightly easier to type on.

On July 2nd, T-Mobile USA is going to get a pretty big smartphone (size and spec-wise). We're talking about the Galaxy S variant but they'll be naming it the Samsung Vibrant. We already know the complete spec sheet for this smartphone but I'll run though them again just in case you're not familiar. This smartphone packs a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera with 720p recording capabilities, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, a microSD card slot (2GB card in the box), Bluetooth 3.0 / WiFi b/g/n with DLNA support, and Android 2.1 with Touchwiz 3.0. This smartphone will be hitting T-Mobile USA starting on July 21st for an easily predictable price of $199.99 on a 2-year contract. If you're extremely interested then you can start pre-ordering it on July 1st at Radio Shack for $50 (gift card).

Sadly, on the pre-installed 2GB microSD card there'll be The Sims 3 Collector's Edition and Avatar, so you can delete those ASAP if you don't want it.

Galaxy S Pro Gets Official On Sprint As the Samsung Epic 4G -- Is Truly Epic

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Like the title says, the handset that we've been calling the Samsung Galaxy S Pro has just been made official. It's heading to Sprint as the Samsung Epic 4G. This will be quite the smartphone running Android 2.1 with Touchwiz 3.0 - and there's already plans for an upgrade to 2.2 in the "near future." The first thing you'll notice is its 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a front-facing VGA camera, WiFi b/g/n, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, a 6-axis accelerometer (gyrometer), 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot (16GB in the box), a 1,500mAh battery, and EV-DO Rev. A / WiMAX connectivity. Of course, we already know that this handset will be sporting a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and it'll be 14.2mm thick. The price hasn't been mentioned but I'm assuming it'll be $199.99 on a 2-year contract where you'll be paying your heart and soul monthly for the improving 4G speeds. With this smartphone you'll be able to connect up to 5 WiFi devices at once if that's what you're looking for.

It's coming "soon." Check out the press release below.

More Satisfied Than Ever
Powerful 4G smartphones like Samsung Epic 4G is one of many reasons Sprint is the most improved company in customer satisfaction, across all industries, over the last two years, according to results from the 2010 American Customer Satisfaction Index.
Sprint’s improvement was driven in part by substantial gains in two aspects of the survey. In the area of customers’ perceptions of value, Sprint now leads both AT&T and Verizon. The company also achieved an impressive improvement in the area of customer loyalty. With these gains, the company’s overall ACSI score jumped 14 points over the last two years. In the last six years of the ACSI survey, no other company has improved its satisfaction score by that many points in a two-year period.
The improvements in the ACSI survey come as Sprint has seen nine consecutive quarters of improved customer satisfaction and first call resolution. The company’s improvements have also been recognized by other independent third-parties, including Sprint winning the #1 spot for both overall satisfaction for wireless voice service providers and wireless data service providers in a Yankee Group and Mobile Enterprise magazine survey of large business decision makers. Sprint also ranked high in small and medium business customer satisfaction. Also noteworthy was Sprint’s two-year Reputation Pulse™ score increase in Reputation Institute’s 2010 U.S. Most Reputable Companies Study (published annually in Forbes). Sprint’s 18.22 percent gain puts its improvement in the top 10 percent of the 150 largest U.S. companies, ahead of both AT&T and Verizon.
