Labels: , , , ,

It looks like you can add another carrier to Canada's list of who'll be getting the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (9100). WIND Mobile looks like they'll be launching it in the future as well. Sadly, we don't know how much it'll go for so we'll just have to wait a little bit longer for that information.

Inventec Shrinks the Laptop and Unveils the Dr. Eye Android-Based MID

Labels: , , , , , ,

The MID you see above is from Inventec and it's being called the Dr. Eye. It's sporting the Android OS and a small and cramped keyboard that looks like it'll be pretty hard to type on unless you're under 8 years old - or use your thumbs only. This MID has a form-factor of a laptop but it's just really small. It's sporting a 4.8-inch VGA touchscreen display, 3G / WiFi support, a front-facing webcam, a Marvell PXA310 624MHz CPU, and version 1.6. We don't know when it will be available but they said "pretty soon" and it'll be priced at around $400. These have hit the black market somewhere in Asia already so if you're really dying to scoop one up you know where to go.

Asus Eee PC 1215N Netbook Spotted At Computex With Dual-Core Atom D525 CPU -- On Video

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

It was rumoured that the Asus Eee PC 1215N netbook would be running a dual-core Intel Atom N500 (1.5GHz) CPU and was set for a July release. Well, the netbook was spotted at Computex and that's not what was found inside. Instead, it was featuring a dual-core Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz CPU so it's slightly faster. However, I don't believe this CPU has support for DDR3 RAM, so that's a slight let down. The rest of the spec sheet is below, courtesy of Netbooked. They also claimed that this netbook had a large trackpad, a "solid" chiclet keyboard, a glossy display, a matte palm rest, and a matte lid. There's a video below if you're that interested.

ASUS Eee PC 1215N

  • 12.1” 1366 x 768 display (glossy)
  • Intel Atom D525 (1.8GHz, dual core)
  • Next generation ION graphics
  • 1 / 2GB DDR2 RAM (2 slots)
  • 250 / 320GB HDD
  • HDMI out
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 3.0 + HS (optional)
  • 6-cell battery (good for 7 hours)

Sony Ericsson To Revive Walkman-Branded Phones... With Android?

Labels: , , , ,

Sony Ericsson Walkman-branded phones used to be a big deal, but they're dying now. There's a rumour going around that Sony Ericsson is going to try to bring them back though... and they're going to use Android to do so. Apparently, the first Android-based Sony Ericsson Walkman-branded handset will be getting introduced sometime this month.

The rumours also tell us that the handset will be similar to the XPERIA X10 Mini with either Android 1.6 or 2.1 - let's hope it's version 2.1 for everyone's sake. I don't think people who buy Walkman-branded phones would want to go to the troubles of rooting their phone to upgrade to a newer version.

Kakai Kno Features 14-Inch Dual Touchscreen Displays, A Huge Tablet

Labels: , , ,

Here's a surprise. From out of nowhere, Kakai has just unveiled their Kno, which is a dual-screen tablet. It's a very large tablet and it actually features two 14-inch touchscreens. It also has essentials like WiFi / Bluetooth support and support for pretty much every ebook format, including PDF. They are going to aim this at students, but it looks a bit too big to lug around everywhere. The company has reportedly partnered with Cengage Learning and McGraw Hill and they're planning to finalize the release date are price later this Summer - they're definitely serious.

Check out Engadget's site below for some hands-on information. They basically thought that it was "clearly unfinished" because it crashed a couple of times and the finger tracking was a bit inaccurate. They also mentioned that it's a hard sell at "under $1000."
