AMD's New CPUs To Hit Around 109 Different Laptops This Year

Labels: ,

According to Reuters, AMD is looking to make a comeback this year. Their notebook CPUs only hit around 40 models last year and apparently "people familiar with the matter" say that around 109 different laptop models will be getting an AMD CPU this year. We've already seen a couple of Dell, Acer, and HP notebooks with their CPUs inside of them so it's definitely a good start - thanks to their new Phenom processors.

HP To Update Envy 15 and Envy 17 Notebooks With New Intel Core i5 / i7 CPU Options

Labels: , , , , , ,

Apparently, HP looks to refresh their Envy 15 and Envy 17 notebooks with Intel's new and upcoming Intel Core i5-450M, Core i7-740QM, and Core i7-840QM CPUs in the future. The dual-core Core i5-450M will be clocked at 2.40GHz with 3MP of L3 cache and you'll be able to crank up that speed to 2.93GHz. The Core i7 models will, of course, be much faster than that. The Core i7-740QM will be a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.73GHz / 2.93GHz and it'll have 6MB of L3 cache; the Core i7-840QM is also a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.86GHz / 3.20GHz and it'll have 8MB of L3 cache. Who knows when this refresh will actually take place, so we'll have to wait for them.

Both of these Core i7 models are faster than the ones found in the new MacBook Pros. That MacBook Pro refresh is starting to look obsolete already...

Canada's Bell To Exclusively Launch the HTC Legend?

Labels: , , , , ,

Mobile Syrup has been hearing a couple of whispers that Canada's Bell will be exclusively launching the HTC Legend. As you already know this will be running Android 2.1 and packs a 3.2-inch multitouch capacitive AMOLED display, a 5MP camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, a microSD card slot, the Sense UI, and Bluetooth / WiFi. A lot of people seem to like this phone, but I don't see what the hype is all about. Still, the more Android handsets that hit Canada, the better. This handset is expected to debut in May / June if the rumour is true.

Okay, so it looks like it won't end up being the MT820. Now dubbed the Motorola MT810, this handset is said to be capable of running on China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network and it'll also have WAPI (WiFi for China). It packs a 5MP camera with an LED flash that can record 720p video, stylus support, and the OPhone UI based on Android. The cover is a capacitive touchscreen display while the display underneath is a resistive digitizer. The display is said to be a Parallax 3D display, so that's pretty awesome and we'll have to see exactly how that plays out.
