Labels: ,

This morning, some new Motorola RAZR3 pictures and video were spotted online. A couple minutes ago, a new batch of photos have hit the web. As you can see the 5MP camera is evident and it is used as a front-facing camera when the phone is open. When it's closed you can use it as a normal (back-facing) camera, thanks to the camera shutter button on the outer lid.

Asus Eee Pad Tablet Running On Microsoft Software, Set To Debut At Computex

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Asus' CEO, Jerry Shen, has gave his input on the tablet market and said that netbooks will still outsell tablets. He also mentioned that without Apple, the whole tablet business wouldn't be where its at today - which is true. So, how about that Eee tablet on theirs? Shen mentioned that they are going to unveil it at Computex this June and the first tablet will actually be running on Microsoft software - so it won't be Android. Apparently, it'll be powered with an Intel CPU, Tegra 2 graphics, and possibly Windows CE. I was hoping for Android, but maybe we'll have to wait for the second-gen tablet.

Samsung U460 Gets FCC and Bluetooth SIG Certificate, Hitting Verizon

Labels: , , , ,

Another Samsung handset is headed to Verizon and it's the U460, possibly the successor to the Intensity U450. This handset has already passed the FCC and the Bluetooth SIG. It packs a 1.3MP camera, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, CDMA 1x connectivity, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support. Sadly, it's not a much of an improvement. This shouldn't be expensive whenever it hits the carrier.

eviGroup Wallet MID Goes Into Production, Will Be Launching In May

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently the eviGoup Wallet MID running Android is set to hit the market in May (which starts tomorrow) for €199 ($264 USD). This MID has reportedly hit the factory and should be ready for a launch over the next couple of weeks. The sad part about all of this is that when the company tried to contact Google they got nothing back, so there appears to be no access to the Android Market.

Motorola RAZR3 Prototype Leaks Itself Out On a Video

Labels: , ,

So much for the Motorola RAZR3 being cancelled. It has apparently just leaked out and it's even spotted on a video (below) - but it's just a prototype for now. This [flip phone] handset packs a shiny silver body and features an external touchscreen display, a 5MP a camera with an LED flash, and GPS support. They should change the name though seeing how it's not sharp on its edges like the RAZR is supposed to be. Instead, they rounded out the edges here, so it won't be slicing through anything in the commercials. The release date is unknown right now.

Unfortunately, it looks like whatever this handset is (the Samsung i5800 / i5801) it'll be packing a weird 240 x 480 resolution along with Android. Maybe it's like a light version of a current Samsung Galaxy, but nothing is really known right now. This same handset has already gotten a WiFi Alliance certificate along with a Bluetooth SIG filing - it has Bluetooth 3.0 on board. More specs and details on this handset should spill out soon.

Samsung To Launch 32 and 37-Inch 3DTVs In 2011

Labels: ,

Samsung has just mentioned that they plan to launch 32 and 37-inch 3DTVs sometime in 2011. This is actually quite a big deal seeing how the smallest 3DTV they have is a 40-inch model and it's also the cheapest 3DTV to-date. This means that we'll be getting even cheaper 3DTVs in 2011, which makes sense of course. These 3DTVs are expected to use 200Hz technology to reduce flicker, offer brighter colours and, overall, better picture quality.

Hopefully, they're planning to launch 3DTVs in 2011 without the need of glasses too. They should put that Parallax display technology to good use.

Verizon Sources Spill Details Regarding Their Upcoming Handset Launches -- LG Ally Gets Spotted In Video!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

One of Boy Genius's sources has just spilled some valuable information if you're looking to jump onto their network soon. Apparently on May 6th Verizon will begin their pre-sale for the Microsoft Kin One and the Kin Two. Later on in May, Verizon expects to release the BlackBerry Bold 9650. Verizon is also gearing up to launch two LG phones, the Fathom and the Aloha (C710). The Fathom is expected to be a handset running on Windows Mobile 6.5 with a touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while the C710 Aloha (which we heard of before) will feature a WVGA display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, and Android 2.1.

Update: According to Phone Arena, the LG Aloha has been renamed to the LG Ally.

Update: According to Unwired View, both the Ally (Aloha) and the Fathom are headed to Verizon sometime in May. The Ally is supposedly a variant of the LU2300.

Update: It looks like the LU2300 won't be the LG Ally since there's a new video that has just been spotted on YouTube that suggests otherwise. Engadget spotted it and it's below, so check it out.

Update: According to Engadget, they've confirmed that Verizon will be taking pre-orders for the Kin One and the Kin Two. It'll be shipping on May 13th.

Microsoft Courier and the Windows 7 Based HP Slate Cancelled

Labels: , , , , , ,

It was a a sad day for tablets yesterday and I wasn't able to blog about it until today. According to Gizmodo's sources the Microsoft Courier, which a bunch of people were waiting for, has been cancelled. This is really sad news considering that this could have been classified as the iPad killer for some people out there - although I doubt that the Courier would've sold as many units as the iPad. Oh well, maybe it'll come to life one day but don't count on it.

Apparently, the other tablet that was cancelled is the HP Slate. Of course, if you think about it this is actually good news since the initial reviews for the Slate weren't so good. This tablet was scheduled to run Windows 7, but that's no longer the case. Of course, HP bought Palm (for $1.2 billion) two days ago so let's think about this. HP could be prepping a tablet running on WebOS which would be much better than a tablet running on Windows 7, but let's hope that they can get some developers on board so that their app store gets a couple thousand more apps. Oh well, at least there's still the HP Android tablet to look out for.

Update: According to a newer Slash Gear post, HP could still be planning to launch the Slate with Windows 7 so don't rule out the possibility of this hitting the market. A source from HP said that it's "very, very improbable if not even an impossible piece of news" regarding the fact that the Slate running Windows 7 is cancelled.
