Adobe and Google Announce Partnership, Chrome OS To Have Flash Integration

Labels: , , , ,

This morning, Adobe and Google announced a partnership and the first thing they've done is pre-installed Flash on the dev build of Google Chrome. That's not all though. Google mentioned that deep Flash integration will also be included into the Chrome OS as well, which we know will be hitting some netbooks and possibly even tablets before the end of the year.

We already know that the iPad doesn't support Flash so this is really something. Hopefully Google will be able to keep up the battery life while playing those Flash videos - they should also keep it from crashing as much as well. HTML5 may be the future, but a lot of websites and games out there still rely on Flash so it's good to know that Google has got Adobe's back.

This Apple and Google relationship is really starting to turn extremely sour.

It's sporting a 1,600 x 900 resolution along with a 5ms response time. The other three models sport a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution and the MS228 sports an HDMI audio-out port. The MS228 will be going for AU$499, while the MS238 will be going for AU$599. Unfortunately, we don't know when they'll be launching and we don't know the prices of the other two models.

Rogers Getting the White BlackBerry Bold 9700 In the Future

Labels: , , , , ,

We don't know when it will launch right now, but it looks like Rogers will be launching a white model of their BlackBerry Bold 9700. Since this is the first time we've heard about this colour for the Bold 9700, Rogers should be getting it first. I know some people who like white devices, but I'm not one of them.

Asus Magazine Leaks Out a Whole Lot Of Their Upcoming Notebooks!

Labels: ,

A bunch of new Asus notebooks have just been leaked out and this is one of the biggest notebook leaks we've had in a while. Engadget did a great job mentioning the best parts about each one and I don't really see the need to mess it all up. There's enough notebooks in this leak to fit absolutely everyone's needs. The sad part about all of the news is that the price tags and the release dates haven't been mentioned for any of them. Thanks Asus Magazine.

  • U-series: Otherwise known as ASUS' Bamboo Collection, the U-series laptops were highlighted at CES, where we discovered they would have Core i5 CPUs and USB 3.0 support. Well, that's not the whole story. They've also all got NVIDIA Optimus auto-switching graphics between an onboard Intel GMA HD and the GeForce 310M 1GB. Oh, and forget Core i5 -- these machines support processors all the way up to the 2.66GHz Core i7-620M. Highlight: The U30JC, with a combo Blu-ray drive and a chiclet keyboard that won a iF Product Design Award.
  • UL-series: ASUS for "UnLimited," you can read UL as "ultra low," as in Intel's ultra low voltage (ULV) processors that provide 8+ hours of battery life and let these notebooks stay cool despite being under an inch thin. We saw the UL80JT sport NVIDIA Optimus at CES andgot hands-on with the Optimus-equipped UL50VF; now, the UL30JT now has it as well. Highlight: That same UL50VF, with an estimated 12+ hours of battery life.
    • NX-series: Remember that 18-inch behemoth with twin touchpads? Apparently it weighs 10.5 pounds.
    • N-series: The ASUS "eNtertainment" series, as reported, has several models with USB 3.0, and several with sound by Bang & Olufsen. There are also a couple with NVIDIA Optimus, a couple with multitouch touchpads, and all have the apparent ability to automatically upscale DVDs to 1080p. Highlight: The N43JF, which reportedly features "GeForce 400-series high end graphics." Mobile Fermi, anyone?
    • K-seriesA-series: ASUS' lower-end laptops, with a wide variety of specs and features, where nothing particularly stands out save an ergonomic "chocolate" keyboard that won a reddot design award.
    • PL-series: Low-voltage Core i5 processors and NVIDIA Optimus switchable graphics givethese fingerprint-reading, aluminum-lidded business laptops an estimated 10 hours of battery life.
    • G-series: Now we're talking games. We've got additional specs here on the Radeon HD 5870-equipped G73JH we told you about last month, which can apparently support a Blu-ray drive and a pair of HDDs; the 3D-ready G51JX 3D, a Core i7-720QM and GeForce GTS 360M-equipped update to the G51J we saw last year; and a similarly specced but low-res 16-inch gaming notebook in the G60JX.

Canada's Bell Announces That They're Launching the BlackBerry Storm 2

Labels: , , , ,

Last night I mentioned that Bell could be thinking about launching the BlackBerry Storm 2 and they've gone out and coincidentally mentioned that they will indeed be launching it. It's set to launch for $349.95 on a 3-year contract, $399.95 on a 2-year contract, $499.95 on a 1-year contract, and $549.95 contract-free. Of course, that's all Canadian currency and that's before Bell likely puts their little promo price on that 3-year contract. Telus has this handset for $199.99 so I'm assuming that Bell will drop it to the same price on a 3-year contract.

Update: According to Boy Genius, Bell is planning to launch this handset on April 13th.

O2 UK Launching the HTC HD Mini and the HTC Desire Pretty Soon

Labels: , , ,

This catalogue seems to tell us that O2 UK is planning to launch something in the future. We already know that O2 launched the HTC HD2 but it looks like they'll be launching the HTC HD Mini as well. This phone could be available in April or maybe it'll launch later on.

Update: According to Unwired View, O2 UK will also be pushing out the HTC Desire. This isn't all that surprising though.
