Apple Working On Two iPhones This Year, One For AT&T and Verizon; Possible Specs Leak Out

Labels: , , , , , , ,

According to the Wall Street Journal, the next iPhone is on the way this year, which everyone should already know by now. The good news is that they're reportedly working on another iPhone that will be capable of running on Verizon Wireless which is great news for every single one of you that just hate AT&T at this point. The iPhone that's set to launch on Verizon should be on route to a September mass-production if the sources are correct. The announcement for this smartphone (and the AT&T one) could be on Tuesday, June 22nd. Maybe there'll be 4G LTE on-board for that Verizon model, just maybe.

Apparently, the next iteration for the iPhone (possibly called the iPhone HD) will be sporting an Apple A4 CPU along with a front-facing camera, and the iPhone OS 4.0. Version 4.0 will reportedly be bringing multitasking to the table and the display is said to double in resolution to a whopping 960 x 640 resolution. This resolution will destroy the iPad's resolution (PPI-wise). Take it all with a grain of salt though because we all know how out of hand Apple rumours usually are.

Canada's Virgin Mobile BlackBerry Pearl Flip and 8130 Now Free On Contract, Upgrade Your CDMA Device Now!

Labels: , , , ,

If you read the title, Virgin Mobile in Canada now has the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and the Pearl Flip available for free on 2-year contracts. With Fido prepping a possible May 4th launch for the BlackBerry Pearl 9100, maybe Virgin will launch it in the coming months as well. Mobile Syrup has just some details regarding their upgrade policy.

Also, Virgin has sent out an e-mail to their “members” who have a CDMA device that they must mandatory upgrade to the new billing system. Virgin states that their members “deserve the best of everything” and that “this big time system and billing upgrade will make being a Member even better”. For these customers you’ll be getting (if not already received) an e-mail with a date that Virgin will be upgrading your phone, all you need to do is re-program your phone to work on the new network. It’s a mandatory upgrade and Virgin stated “if we don’t get you upgraded then eventually you wouldn’t be able to use your phone anymore, and that would not be cool”.
Virgin sent us a note that stated “While we are moving our members over to a new billing system, it doesn’t require any upgrades to HPSA – it’s completely up to you if you stick with your CDMA device or if you want an HSPA device. The new system is, however, necessary if you want an HSPA device, plus it gives you more functions to edit your account system, review your e-bill and change around your settings. All members need to do is edit the programming on their phone to move over to the new billing system – but a head’s up, changing the programming won’t change your phone over to HSPA. You’d need to replace your CDMA phone with an HSPA phone to hook up to the HSPA network.”

Google Nexus One To Hit Verizon Next Week? A "Surprise" For the Launch

Labels: , , , , ,

Not much to tell you here, but I won't drag this on longer than it should be. While the picture above could be fake, apparently Verizon is looking to launch the Sense-less Google Nexus One by the end of next week. The photo above was taken when Google reportedly put up that the Nexus One will be available to buy from Verizon for $199 - of course, it was taken down shortly after.

Update: According to Unwired View, Verizon will be launching it "with a surprise." Exactly what this surprise will be is still unknown. Maybe it'll be a black model

Coby MP570 Looks Like a Fake Apple Magic Mouse, It's Actually An MP3 Player

Labels: ,

Believe it or not but what you see here is not some coloured Apple Magic Mouse. This is reportedly the Coby MP570 mp3 player which has a funky look to it. Unfortunately, it's packing a pretty bad spec sheet, sporting only 2GB of flash storage, support for only mp3 / WMA formats, and there's no memory card slot on-board. This mp3 player will be available sometime in the future, but the price hasn't been mentioned yet.

Apparently, in May you'll be able to pick up a gift card equivalent to how much the phone will cost, then when they actually launch the phone you can buy it with the card that you purchase. We'll see what happens in the coming months.

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A new Fido leak has just spilled out of a faucet and it pretty much tells us what they'll be launching in Q2 of this year. There'll be an HSPA+ model, the LG GW300, the Nokia X3, the Nokia 3710, and the Sony Ericsson Aspen. The most important thing about this leakage is that it states that the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 could be hitting the shelves on May 4th. There are a bunch of pictures in the link below, so be sure to check it out.

Orange UK Exclusively Launching the HTC Desire In Black!

Labels: , , , , , ,

Now this is what I want. The HTC Desire has just been confirmed to have a Black Edition and Orange UK will be gaining the exclusive rights to it. This handset will be hitting Orange in late April, while the regular brown model will be available in early April (possibly April 2nd according to Tech Radar). If I can get this cheaper than the Nexus One, I'm actually seriously considering it.

MSI Wind U250 Possibly Leaks Out, Possibly Sporting Dual-Core CPU

Labels: , , , ,

The MSI Wind U250 looks like it has just leaked out and there's a debate going on about what processor is fueling this notebook. It could be a dual-core AMD Athlon II Neo K325 1.3GHz CPU. The other, and still important, specs are a 12-inch display, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, and Windows 7. I wonder what it'll be priced at.

Toshiba K01 Passes the FCC, Hitting Europe / Asia

Labels: , , , ,

The Toshiba K01 looks like it could be launching in the near future seeing how it just passed the FCC for clearance. This handset is basically the TG01 with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a capacitive AMOLED touchscreen display, and running WinMo 6.5. This handset packs a pretty good spec sheet which does fairly well considering how the specs haven't changed from the TG01. This model that has passed the FCC has been spotted with UMTS bands I and VIII which means that it'll be hitting Europe / Asia. Check out the FCC filing here.

64GB Microsoft Zune HD Model To Launch Soon?

Labels: , ,

Hmm, maybe a 64GB model of the Microsoft Zune HD is on the way. Unfortunately, if you click on "Zune HD 64" (here) it brings you nowhere. Right now the 32GB is going for $240 so one could assume that the 64GB model will retail for at least $300. I don't think I'll ever be on-board unless they put a phone in one of these.

Labels: , , , , , ,

The HTC Desire is a pretty awesome phone and it's headed to Japan's SoftBank Mobile in late April. This handset will, of course, feature WCDMA connectivity along with the Sense UI over top of Android 2.1 and the rest of the Google Nexus One specs. And yes, Google search won't be on-board, instead you'll have to use something else.
