HTC Supersonic [Possibly] Terribly Pictured In the Wild

Labels: , , , , , ,

Exactly what the heck is this? Apparently it's the HTC Supersonic which will be like the HD2 with Android 2.1, [Sprint's] WiMAX, a 4.3-inch AMOLED display, a 5MP camera, and HTC's own Sense UI. Of course it'll have the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. Keep in mind that this picture could be a fake, but could be what the face of the phone could look like. Terrible quality though.

Orange UK Also Planning To Launch the XPERIA X10 In Spring?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Just this morning we heard about the possibility of O2 UK launching the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 and now we're hearing that Orange might launch it as well. Clearly, if this is the case, it won't be exclusive to one carrier overseas which is great news - the more options the better. It's been rumoured that the XPERIA X10 will be hitting Orange in March or April but the price is still TBD.

Bell Mobility Set To Launch Samsung r100 and r330 Handsets

Labels: , , , ,

It won't exactly be the biggest news you'll hear all week but it looks like Canada's Bell Mobility is looking to launch the Samsung r100 (on the right) and the r330. They'll have a candybar and a flip phone form factor, respectively, and they're both "entry level phones". The price hasn't been mentioned yet but they should launch by the end of this quarter - before the end of March.

Case-Mate Showed Off the BlackBerry Curve 8910 At CES; Oh Yeah, and Their Case Too

Labels: , , , ,

CES has already come and gone but it looks like some people are just scooping up some information now. Today we know that Case-Mate actually had a BlackBerry Curve 8910 at their booth - of course, showing off their new case. It's really not much different from the Curve 8900 but it does sport the optical trackpad, which I think is better than the trackball once you get used to it.

Nvidia Tegra 2 Making An Appearance At MWC, Possibly To Be Found In Future Smartphones

Labels: , , , , , ,

We saw a couple of devices with Nvidia's Tegra 2 graphics at CES 2010 a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like there'll be more to showcase at MWC 2010 this year. They'll be found in tablets and "other" devices as well. This could likely include netbooks / smartbooks, and we could possibly see them in smartphones as well - or MIDs. We'll just have to see what happens in 3 weeks time.

Acer Launching E-Book Reader, App Store, Netbooks, and Possibly a Tablet With Chrome OS This Year

Labels: , , , , ,

Acer looks like they've just outlined their plans for the rest of 2010 - for the most part. Acer has just mentioned that they'll be launching a 6-inch e-book reader with an e-ink display by the end of the year (better late than never?). Around the same time they'll be launching their own App Store and some netbooks with Chrome OS and even Android should be expected later this year. We'll likely see 1 or 2 netbooks running the Chrome OS from the Acer camp and they could be dual-booting Windows if they can.

After Apple's event on Wednesday they're also going to look into the tablet business if it's worth competing in. This is assuming Apple's tablet isn't going to blow everything else out of the water.

Panasonic Unveils 10.4-Inch R-Series Laptop With Intel Core i7 CPU Options

Labels: , , , , ,

Panasonic's latest laptop may feature a 10.4-inch XGA display but you can't really call it a netbook considering the impressive spec sheet. This one's the Panasonic "Let's Note" R-Series (CF-R9JWACDR if we're getting specific). It looks like it has just been unveiled to feature an Intel Core i7-620 UM 1.06GHz CPU, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, up to a 500GB HDD / 128GB SSD, two USB 2.0 ports, WiFi a/b/g/n / Bluetooth support, an SD/SDHC card slot, a VGA output, and a 3,100mAh battery that should last 7.5 hours.

This laptop can also be customized to contain a faster Core i7-640UM 1.2GHz CPU, and WiMAX. That's pretty impressive considering that this notebook will weigh 0.93kg and has a fairly thick 3cm body. This laptop is expected to launch in Japan on February 19th but the price wasn't mentioned.

Unique Android-Based Motorola MOTOSPLIT To Hit AT&T in Q2 With Snapdragon

Labels: , , , ,

Someone's gotta be pulling our leg here. Apparently, this is the Motorola MOTOSPLIT, and it'll feature a Snapdragon CPU - and a touchscreen of course. It's looking pretty thin right now, and it's got a unique QWERTY keyboard pull out. This phone will reportedly launch on AT&T in Q2 of this year with Android on deck. I don't know how believable this is so don't be sad if it doesn't see the light of day.

Apple Not Updating MacBook Air Due To Intel ULV Core i5 Shortages?

Labels: , , , , ,

We hope that Apple's MacBook Pros get an update in the near future - at the January 27th event - but it looks like if you're hoping for a MacBook Air upgrade you could be out of luck. Since Intel is reportedly having shortages of their ULV Core i5 CPUs this could mean that Apple may not even bother updating it until Intel has more of those CPUs in stock. The clock speed is definitely slower than the current MacBook Air CPUs but Intel's new Core i5 has hyperthreading and you can use Turbo Boost to pump up the CPU to anywhere between 1.86GHz and 2.26GHz.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 Getting More ROM and RAM, 16GB MicroSD Card In the Box Too!

Labels: , , ,

T-Mobile is going to launch the HTC HD2 and everyone knows this already. There's even better news though. It'll be coming to the US with more ROM and RAM, 1GB and 576MB, respectively. There's also going to be a 16GB microSD card in the box which is great news. Maybe the HD2 could be getting that Windows Mobile 7 upgrade after all.

O2 UK Planning a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Launch Too!?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is launching in a couple of different markets in Q2 of this year and now we're getting a feeling that the UK may get it [subsidized] as well. On O2 UK's website, the XPERIA X10 actually shows up in the accessories shop (you can only see it if you're in the UK) which means that it could be launching there in the next couple of months. We don't know how much it will launch for but it should be free on an expensive monthly contract.
