Samsung i6500, i899, and i8180 Get Revealed Unofficially, One's Android and Two Are WinMo

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Well, we've got three handsets for you here. What you see above is the Samsung i6500 "Saturn" which passed the WiFi Alliance just over a month ago. We don't know the spec sheet right now, but we do know that it'll be a Google-branded Android handset - as you can tell from the photo of the back of the phone.

The second handset is above and it's sporting the model number SCH-i899 and it looks a little bit like the Behold II. This handset will feature: a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, a 3MP camera, and Windows Mobile. Unfortunately, this handset will be launching in China before anywhere else.

What you see above shouldn't be anything new. This is the Samsung Omnia II variant that will be hitting China shortly - as the Samsung i8180 / i8180C. Of course, it's running WinMo 6.5 and should have Omnia II typical specs. I assume that they'll throw in a TV tuner as well.

Motorola "La Jolla" To Be Cheapest and First Clamshell Phone For Android

Labels: , ,

The folks over at Android and Me have just dug up yet another codename for another possibly Android device. This is coming from Motorola and was found in the CLIQ / DEXT's source code. They've found the codename "La Jolla" which could be the cheapest Android handset to date and will be the first Android clamshell phone.

We don't everything about it, but we do know a little bit. The specs are below - and yes they seem to be stuck in the past with that dang ol' Qualcomm 7201A CPU, but I'll let it slide since this is supposedly a flip phone.

  • Qualcomm 7201A Processor (528 MHz ARM11)
  • MAX7359 Keypad
  • Kionix 3-axis accelerometer driver for LaJolla board.
  • Motorola Halo i2c touchscreen (240 x 400)

Canada's Bell Mobility Slashes the Price of the Samsung Omnia II To $149.95

Labels: , , , ,

Likely due to poor sales Bell has already cut the price of the Samsung Omnia II to $149.95 CAD - from $199.95 CAD. Of course with this price you're still strapped to a 3-year Canadian data contract. Check out this link if you actually want to purchase one.

I wonder how much buzz the Nokia N97 will generate when it launches on Bell.

All BlackBerry's 50% Off On AT&T Starting Now; Samsung Solstice Being Offered For Free

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Starting today AT&T is going to be real generous. Right now, they have just slashed all of their BlackBerry prices to 50% off. You'll receive the 50% via mail-in rebate, but it's better than nothing, right? Anyways, included in this deal is the BlackBerry Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8900, Curve 8520, Curve 8320, and the Curve 8310.

If you don't want to get a BB than you can always get a Samsung Solstice for free after a mail-in rebate. This would normally be priced at $50, so you'll be getting all of that as a mail-in rebate.

Shenzhen Releases the 5.6-Inch HT560 UMPC In China, Rebranded Owl iMpc A10?

Labels: , , ,

What you see here is the Shenzhen HT560 UMPC, which actually looks familiar - but more on that later. This UMPC sports: a 5.6-inch touchscreen display, a VIA C7 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD, two USB 2.0 ports, a 1.3MP camera on the back and on the front, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, and Windows XP. You can find this somewhere in China for the equivalent of around $421 USD.

One question though, isn't this a rebranded Owl iMPC A10 from back in April. The specs are nearly - if not - identical.

Motorola Sholes Tablet Possibly Spotted In China; Headed To China Unicom as the XT701? SMH.

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

For some reason, the rumours on the Motorola Sholes Tablet are starting to pick up. It's been three days and this is the third supposed leak of the said handset. In China, this handset has been spotted, but it only has a 5MP camera, which could be tipping the fake hats at this point. However, it does sport: a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, an FM radio, Android 2.1, and possibly even an HDMI port.

It's from China - could be headed to China Unicom as the XT701 - but maybe it's just the Motorola Tao. That's my guess at least, maybe Motorola plans a couple of models for the Sholes Tablet. Let's wait and see.

Nokia Only Producing Around 10 Smartphones In 2010

Labels: , , ,

Nokia is definitely looking to make a push over the next couple of years and 2010 will be an important part of that. With the new version of both Symbian and Maemo coming next year, expect big things (I hope) from Nokia pretty soon. Well, Nokia has just announced that they will be cutting their smartphone line-up in half in 2010, so that'll come out to around 10 smartphones. Let's hope that Nokia packs in some multitouch capacitive touchscreens on those suckers and, of course, I assume will see the E72's successor sometime in 2010 as well.

Nokia has mentioned that they're looking into the low to mid-end range for some of their smartphones too, so that'll be good for you people overseas.

European-Looking HTC Hero Passes the FCC, Headed to AT&T?

Labels: , , , , , ,

You should already know what this is. Well, it's the HTC Hero (the European and Canadian look alike) and a lot of people are assuming that it's headed to AT&T seeing how this has just passed the FCC. To be honest, there's just something about it that seems... different. Kind of like a Chinese fake or something. Nevertheless, it passed the FCC and the filing is here.

At this point it's just a concept, but it's just been taken for a quick spin on video. This Android-based Creative Zii Trinity handset. There's nothing big revealed in the video, but it's always worth it to watch it. Check it out at the link below, of course.

Nokia Readying Their First Dual SIM Card Slot Handset For 2010

Labels: , ,

Right now we don't know any other details about this handset besides that. Nokia will be prepping a handset for 2010 with two SIM card slots. This dual SIM handset will be powered by S40, so don't expect it to be all that high-end. I'm expecting them to make a dual SIM handset that is run by S60 as well, but we'll likely have to wait until an even later date for that.
