Plastic Logic Teases Their E-Book Reader, Prepping For Big CES 2010 Unveiling -- Running Windows CE On Video!

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Well, we just heard news about Spring Design's Alex e-book reader and now Plastic Logic has decided to tease their own offering. What you above is a side profile of the Plastic Logic QUE. Unfortunately, the details are pretty scarce right now, but the big unveiling is expected to take place at CES 2010. It has a display the exact same size as a piece of paper, that's 8.5 x 11-inches and it is a touchscreen. This e-book reader will have support for various formats such as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. It measures in at under 0.33-inches, so it's pretty slim. We'll have to wait and see exactly what else this reader will have in store for us in early 2010. Oh yes, it also has 3G connectivity.

Update: It looks like we've got some more information about this e-book reader - courtesy of WMPowerUser. This e-book reader looks like it will come equipped with Windows CE. That's up to you to decide whether that is exciting or not. Check out the short video below.

You may not remember the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 10 but it looks like it has just been made official. This LCD HDTV has a 40-inch display and features an aluminum body. Unfortunately, it costs £43,495 ($71,323 USD) overseas and I'm sure that's enough to make a couple of people to cry - it's making me tear up as I type.

Apple Already Testing a 4G CDMA iPhone On Verizon's 3G LTE Networks?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

This is interesting. It looks like right after Verizon sabotaged the iPhone (with their iDont ads in favour of the Motorola Droid), we're now hearing rumours of Apple testing a 4G (CDMA) iPhone on Verizon's 4G LTE networks. 4G is, apparently, going to bring speeds 10 times faster than 3G. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how fast 3G is because I only use WiFi on my phone.

  • it's designed to show you notifications and previews of messages arriving on your BlackBerry

Boy Genius Reveals Even More About the Motorola Droid; The Android Handset To Beat

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Boy Genius has just told us exactly what they think about the Motorola Droid (Sholes / Tao). They've given us pictures and exactly what you see below. After reading all of those sweet points, check out Boy Genius' website for a couple of more photos.

  • It’s running Android 2.0. Duh.
  • It’s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider we’ve ever seen.
  • It is the fastest Android device we’ve ever used. (It’s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)
  • The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller. It’s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic.
  • Awesome capacitive display. Plus it’s huge. Easily the best screen we’ve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall.
  • The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. We’ve been told the keyboard design isn’t final on this unit, thus the two no-shows.
  • Have we mentioned this phone flies? It’s the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive. From what we’ve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh?
  • There’s a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that we’ve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a “multimedia station” and displays local weather, the time, etc.
  • No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a child’s toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone we’ve used since the iPhone. It’s positively amazing).

T-Mobile Project Dark / Project Black Announcement To Be Even More / Even More Plus Contracts and New FlexPay System

Labels: ,

More news about T-Mobile's Project Dark / Project Black has just popped up today. It looks like it has been confirmed to be some kind of unlimited plan and the Even More and Even More Plus contracts. T-Mobile is also planning to introduce what they're calling a FlexPay system. This will allow you to "pay for it [a handset] in monthly installments just like they would for that big leather couch they can't really afford but really, really want." So, let's say for a $500 contract-free, you'll be able to pay $20 monthly or something like that. That's pretty awesome!
