Verizon Has Rights on LG Chocolate 4 -- Wait, What?

Labels: , ,

According to the latest reports, LG has "started the process or ordering dummy phones for an LG Chocolate 4". So far, the LG Chocolate series has been very successful, but it's too bad that Verizon's not getting their hands on the LG Chocolate BL40 because that's all we care about right now. Then again, maybe it's a good thing that Verizon's not getting their hands on the sexilicious BL40. I don't know exactly what the LG Chocolate 4 is, but I doubt it'll be as tasty as the BL40.

Sony Shows Off New Bravias, 19-Inch S5700 and 22-Inch E5300

Labels: , , ,

Believe it or not, but what you see above and below are not computer monitors, they are the latest Sony Bravia Full HDTV sets. The ones shown in the picture is the S5700 Bravia that has: a 19-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a couple of HDMI outputs, 1080p playback, Ethernet, USB 2.0 ports, the Bravia Engine 3, and "Live Colour". These TV sets are designed for the bedroom, kitchen, or a study room.

The E5300 isn't pictured, but it will have: a 22-inch Full HD display, four HDMI outputs, 100Hz Motion Flow technology, and AppliCast widgets via DLNA. Apparently, these Bravias were announced back in February.

The design of these new Bravia TV sets are quite unique for Sony and they will be available in four colours: pink, mocha, silver, and white - as seen in the picture. Unfortunately, Sony showed off models that were turned off so we don't know how good the picture quality is at the moment. These TVs will be available in a few months, so if you need something small for you room just wait around for these if you'd like.

HTC Snap S510 Doesn't Launch on Telus Today, Looks Delayed; HTC Touch Pro 2 is 6 Days Away

Labels: , , , , ,

So much for Telus launching the HTC Snap S510 today (July 15th). It was scheduled to launch today alongside the BlackBerry Tour, but it looks like it's still "Coming Soon" according to the official Telus website. Looks like HTC Snap and WinMo 6.1 fans will have to wait a couple of days longer or maybe until tomorrow.

On a side note, the HTC Touch Pro 2 is scheduled to be available in under a week. It will probably hit Telus for more than $199.99 CAD ($178 USD) since the original HTC Touch Pro is listed at that price. I'd guess $249.99 CAD ($223 USD) or $299.99 CAD ($268 USD) on a 3-year contract. We'll just have to see in the near future.

Apple May Be Shifting Towards Anti-Glare Matte Options on Future Macs

Labels: , ,

If you've ever used your 13 or 15-inch MacBook Pro outside, you may have noticed that in a couple of seconds you are blinded by the glare from your laptop. In the future, that glare may be no more because the latest rumour has it that Apple is going to push out more anti-glare (via matte) options on future MacBooks. Right now, only the massive 17-inch MacBook Pro has an anti-glare option, so it would be a welcome addition to the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pros as well.

Sharp Unveils LED-Backlit HDTVs, the LE600 and LE700

Labels: , , , ,

Sharp has just unveiled its first LED-backlit HDTVs in London today. They are part of the AQUOS series and consist of the LE600 and LE700. These TVs are all eco-friendly and will be available in 32, 40, and 46-inch sizes, the LE700 throws in an extra 52-incher which would be beautiful for the living room.

These new Sharp HDTVs sport the AQUOS Colour Engine which will deliver Full HD 1080p, thanks to its new X-Gen Panel. All of these models will have: 10W speakers, four HDMI 1.3 ports, and a USB port. Speaking about eco-friendliness, these TVs will use only 0.01W of power in standby mode and will consume 40% less power than traditional LCDs. The LE700 series will have a 100Hz frame rate and a 4ms response time. As you can see, not much is known about these TV sets yet.

The cheapest TV - the 32-inch LE600 - will cost £750 ($1,233 USD), so expect to pay a lot more money, especially for the 52-inch LE700. All of these TVs should be available in a couple of days, but the prices haven't been completely outlined yet.

MAG Delayed Until January 2010

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

At E3 2009, Sony Computer Entertainment America told the world that Zipper Interactive's massive action game, MAG, would be shipping "Fall 2009." BioShock 2 and Heavy Rain have already been delayed until 2010 and here's another one for ya. MAG - best-known for its awesome 256-player online mode - is now scheduled to be released in January 2010. If it misses its January release date, Sony said that it will be available by the end of the fiscal year 2009 aka March 2010.

I just hope that God of War III doesn't end up being delayed too because that would be a huge let down for the PlayStation 3. This was supposed to be their year, but I guess that's also been delayed to 2010.

NTT DoCoMo Releasing Solar-Powered Sharp SH-08A Handset This September

Labels: , , , , ,

NTT DoCoMo is going to release a new eco-friendly Sharp SH-08A handset. The new SH-08A is a flip phone that has: splash-resistance, an 8MP camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA support, a VGA display, and three colour options (above). The solar panels on the top will give you one minute of talk time for 10 minutes of boiling in the sun. It's better than nothing, to be honest. This handset will be on display at Wireless Japan this month and they should be available in September.

Samsung t559 Comeback Launching on T-Mobile For $130 Any Day Now

Labels: , ,

Looks like Boy Genius' $50 USD price tag for the Samsung t559 Comeback was just a little bit off. Word today has it that the Samsung Comeback will be launching for $129.99 USD after a $50 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract. Other prices are $179.99 USD on a 1-year contract and $249.99 USD to be contract-free. Boy Genius points out that the T-Mobile G1 costs just $20 more, and I'm pretty sure it's a better option. Suit yourself though.

Mitsubishi HDTVs Now Available With Free Vudu Boxes Starting July 16th

Labels: , , , , , ,

I'm sure you're familiar with Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTVs by now. Starting tomorrow (July 16) "authorized retailers" will be bundling a free Vudu box with every purchase of a Mitsubishi HDTV! It may not be much, since the Vudu box only costs $150 USD, but it's better than nothing. Don't forget that the Vudu box is "the only player" that has 1080p HDX video rentals and it also has support for Pandora, Flickr, Youtube, and local streaming. Would that be enough to suck you in to the Mitsubishi craze? Are you willing to spend $6,500 USD?

MSI Reveals More Classic Series Notebooks, CX600 / CR600

Labels: , ,

Like the MSI CR400 that was announced a couple of days ago, these two notebooks are also part of MSI's new Classic Series. The only real difference between the two notebooks is that the CX600 uses an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 3D graphics card and the CR600 has Nvidia's 8200M G graphics and an HDMI port. Besides that everything else is the same.

Both of these notebooks have: a 16-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, up to 4GB of RAM, your choice of Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, 250 / 320 / 500GB HDDs, WiFi, a 1.3MP webcam, optional Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, three USB 2.0 ports, a DVD optical drive, a VGA output, and a 6-cell battery. These notebooks come pre-equipped with Windows Vista Home Premium and are hitting Taiwan. But the price and release date haven't been mentioned yet - we also don't know if this will hit North America.

Another Sony Ericsson Announcement, W518a Hitting AT&T on July 19th

Labels: , ,

Here's another Sony Ericsson announcement that the tweet was probably talking about. They have just announced that the Sony Ericsson W518a clamshell phone will be launching on AT&T on July 19th as well - the same day as the C905a. This handset has: Shake Control / Gesture Control technology, and is another Walkman music player. This phone will be launching on Sunday the 19th for $49.99 USD after rebates on a 2-year contract.

Samsung i8000 Omnia II Launching This Weekend; i8910 OmniaHD Expected on August 1

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

The Samsung I8000 Omnia II looks like the official launch will be this weekend in Singapore. This is one of the best WinMo handsets to date, sporting: a 3.7-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen WVGA display, a 5MP camera, 3G, WiFi, GPS, and a Qualcomm CPU. The Omnia II is expected to be available for around €440 ($620 USD).

The other AMOLED-packing Samsung handset is the i8910 OmniaHD. This handset is also said to be available soon - August 1st to be exact. It had an initial launch back in May, but Samsung stopped selling the handset because they had to fix the handset up a little bit. The OmniaHD is said to have a retail price of €540 ($761 USD). The OmniaHD is my favourite handset to date, it has: a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, an 8MP camera with the ability of recording 720p video, WiFi, GPS, a microSD card slot, and runs S60.

Sony Ericsson 8.1MP C905a Hitting AT&T on July 19th For $179

Labels: , ,

This is another possible announcement that the tweet from Sony Ericsson North America was talking about. Introducing to you, the Sony Ericsson C905a. The C905a has: an 8.1MP AF camera with a xenon flash, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE / dual-band HSDPA, GPS, FM radio, Bluetooth, Memory Stick Micro support, and a scratch-resistive display. This announcement is much better than the Sony Ericsson W205 / W205a, but it's still not one of the XPERIA's that I wanted to hear about today. Sony Ericsson announced that this handset would hit AT&T on July 19 for $179.99 USD after rebates on a 2-year contract.

Sony Announces New W205 / W205a Walkman Phones; Second FanWalk Competition

Labels: , , , ,

I don't know if you remember, but last night Sony Ericsson's official Twitter account tweeted that they were going to announce something today. Sadly, I hope it's not either of these 2 announcements.

Early this morning, Sony Ericsson announced two new Walkman phones, the W205 and the W205a. These handsets are extremely low-end, but they'll be cheap - "affordable" according to Sony's press release. These handsets will have: FM radio, TrackID, a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, and a Memory Stick Micro slot. Sony Ericsson mentioned that these handsets are going to be released withing three months. I swear all of Sony's Walkman-branded handsets all look the same. Mind switching it up Sony Ericsson?

On side note, Sony Ericsson also announced that it will hold its second annual FanWalk competition. For more on that contest, check out the Tech Tree link below.

I hope the tweet from yesterday wasn't talking about either of these announcements because these announcements were definitely not worth tweeting about at all. Now I know never to get my hopes up about Sony Ericsson announcing something ever again.

T-Mobile UK Launching the iPhone 3G in the Future? Orange Joins the Party Too

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to the latest rumour T-Mobile UK could be launching the iPhone 3G in the future. No, not the iPhone 3GS, but the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3GS is still exclusive to O2 overseas, but that contract is said to end in 2011 - that's besides the point. Anyways, T-Mobile UK's goal is to pull more customers so that they can possibly move into third / second in the UK mobile provider spot. Selling the iPhone 3G could be that solution. It's just a rumour and right now I don't believe there's any proof to back it up, but I'm just giving you a heads up for the possible future of the iPhone 3G launching on T-Mobile UK.

Update on July 16th: According to Pocket-Lint, T-Mobile UK may not be the only carrier that will have the iPhone 3G overseas. The latest report says that Orange may also be selling the iPhone 3G as well. "Mobile Today cites 'sources' as saying O2 is 'furious' with the news and concerned that the rival operators will undercut its arguably high pricing - some potential good news for the consumer." Both Orange and T-Mobile UK will only be selling the iPhone 3G, not the iPhone 3GS.

On a side note, it looks like T-Mobile will be holding a pre-launch party for the Curve 8520 on July 20th - if anyone's interested.

Dell Talking To Top 3 - 4 Carriers About Launching Smartphones and Netbooks

Labels: , , , , , ,

Dell had a presentation yesterday and they mentioned that they were talking with the "top three to four" carriers in the US about launching their own set of phones. This should come as no surprise because we've already heard about Dell's rumoured smartphone - running Android - but this would probably throw the idea of an MID out the window. Apparently, they were also talking to the carriers about launching sub-notebooks aka netbooks as well. This means that Dell will be "offering devices between 4 and 12 inches that could interoperate with each other." Let's hope their smartphones are not "indifferent" just like we heard about before.

Toshiba TG01 Sales "Halted" on O2 Germany Because of a Pre-Installed Virus

Labels: , , , ,

Whoever said it was impossible to get viruses on your mobile phone? Apparently, the Toshiba TG01 that O2 Germany launched came with a virus pre-installed!! Talk about a careless launch. Luckily, only a few handsets had it and not all of them. "Currently the sales of the Toshiba TG01 on O2 Germany have been halted and customers who have bought the smartphone are invited to contact customer service." Looks like the TG01 launch didn't go as planned. That sucks for Toshiba because this smartphone looks pretty sweet - I'm talking about the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and not the resistive touchscreen.

T-Mobile G2 Touch / HTC Hero Delayed Until August; August 15th on Amazon

Labels: , , , , ,

So much for that July release date. The HTC Hero / T-Mobile G2 Touch has been delayed until August in Germany. We heard about Amazon delaying the HTC Hero for 9 days, but this is definitely more than that. I'm sure the launch will be okay though, I mean who can't wait to get their hands on this device?

Update on July 21: According to Pocket-Lint, the HTC Hero is scheduled to land on August 15th on Amazon.

Asus Eee PC T91 Now Available For $500

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Everything you've heard about the Asus Eee PC T91 netbook / tablet is true. The July 15th release date stands and the $499 USD expected price tag also stands. You can check it out here on Amazon's official website. The Eee PC T91 has: an 8.9-inch resistive touchscreen display, an Intel Atom 1.33GHz Z520 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD, a 16GB SD card included in the box, and 20GB of Asus' online storage - for a limited time, I believe.

This model will not have 3G, GPS, a TV tuner, or multitouch, so that could be on the way soon - T91A / T91GO. Asus has already warned that the T91 will be in short supply, so if you really want to get one, get it quick! As an alternative, the Eee PC T101H should be released in a couple of weeks / months.

Update: Skeptical on buying this netbook tablet? Well, you can now check out Engadget and Slash Gear for their own reviews on the Asus Eee PC T91.

Acer Launching 4 Smartphones By the End of This Year

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This is what DigiTimes had to say. "Acer plans to launch four smartphones, the A1, C1/E1, F1 and L1, at the end of September and in the fourth quarter of this year, outsourcing the production to Taiwan-based Compal Communications and Inventec Appliances, according to sources at Taiwan handset component suppliers." Does that get you excited? The most exciting handset here could be the one pictured above, the Acer F1 with its Qualcomm 1GHz CPU. It could also be the Acer A1 (below) that runs Android.

Either way, 3 of the 4 smartphones launching from Acer run Windows Mobile and we should expect them all in the second half of this year.

New Tesla Roadster Sport Costs $128,000, Goes From 0-60 mph in Just 3.7 Seconds

Labels: ,

I'm sure you remember the very, very sexy Tesla Model S, but here's another Tesla car for the fairly wealthy ones out there. The original Tesla Roadster took 3.9 seconds to go from 0-60 mph, so if that wasn't fast enough then this may be the car for you. Introducing the Tesla Roadster Sport, which is a little bit faster, taking only 3.7 seconds to go from 0-60 mph. It'll cost you $128,000 though, so be prepared.

The real reason I dedicated a post to this was because it looks pretty damn sexy. The interior may not be as sexy as the Tesla Model S, but that's okay.
