ASRock Launching 12-Inch Multibook G22 With a Multitouch Trackpad, Ion, and Atom 330

Labels: ,

ASRock has just announced the new Multibook G22. Being an Asus spinoff, this laptop actually has a pretty decent spec sheet. The Multibook G22 has: a 12.1-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a dual-core Atom 330 CPU, Nvidia Ion, 2GB of RAM, a multitouch trackpad, a 10-in-1 card reader, and a 320GB HDD. We're not done yet, so just take a breather. This laptop also has VGA / HDMI outputs, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and a DVD burner. The laptop weighs over 3.3 pounds without a battery and is more than an inch thick. It's quite bulky, but - to be honest - I'd still purchase it if the price was reasonable. The price and availability has not been mentioned yet, but cross your fingers that it's something cheap.

Nokia N97 Mini Launching Later This Year?

Labels: , , , , ,

Here's a big rumour. Someone on a Vodafone forum has just mentioned that Vodafone Ireland will be launching a "Nokia N97 Mini" later this year. It will be "competitively priced" and will "appeal to a wider segment of customers." If true, we could see, obviously, a smaller version of the Nokia N97, since the N97 is a pretty big device. This hasn't been confirmed yet, so don't get your hopes up. I'm not excited though, since the N97 is no longer the phone at the top of my list.

LG Announce GT500, GW550, Also Full Spec Sheet For the GW520

Labels: , , , , , ,

At CommunicAsia, I was expecting Sony to announce the XPERIA X2, but it doesn't look like that will happen. But, LG does give us some mildly interesting news. At the event, LG announced 2 new handsets, the GT500 and the GW550. They also went on to announce the full spec sheet for the LG GW520. Let's check it out.

First up is the LG GT500 and it's a touchscreen handset. The GT500 comes equipped with: a 3-inch 16M-colour WQVGA (400 x 240 resolution) display, GPS, WiFi, quad-band GSM, 3G, HSDPA connectivity, a 5MP camera, and will run on the S-Class UI. The GT500 will be available exclusively to Orange in the UK as the LG GT505. If the launch goes well, you'll see it hit other markets afterwards. The pricing has not been mentioned yet.

Next up is the LG GW550, which remind me of the Nokia E71. It has: a 2.4-inch QVGA display, quad-band GSM, 3G, HSPA connectivity, a 3MP camera, Bluetooth, a microSD slot, USB connectivity, and will run on WinMo 6.1. Unfortunately, LG did not give a price or an availability date to this QWERTY-packed smartphone.

The LG GW520 may not seem like a new handset, but the specs have finally been completely outlined. The LG GW520 has: a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, quad-band GSM / dual-band UMTS, HSDPA connectivity, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a built-in accelerometer, and a microSD slot (up to 8GB support). Check out the full spec sheet here, courtesy of GSM Arena. The GW520 will start shipping by the end of this month, but the price has not been revealed yet.

LG Launching 15-Inch OLED TV This December... In Korea

Labels: , ,

LG promised an OLED TV by the end of the year and it looks like they're going to pull through. LG will be launching their first OLED TV in December of this year and it will be hitting Korea first. The OLED TV is expected to be 15-inches and will probably have a: 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 1,366 x 768 resolution, and a 30,000-hour life expectancy, since that's what they showed off in January. The price has not been mentioned, but let's hope it's not $2,500 USD like the Sony XEL-1.

Toshiba NB205 Netbook Gets 8.5-Hours of Real-Time Battery Life

Labels: ,

Now this is exactly what I am looking for. After recent tests by Laptop Mag, the Toshiba NB205 netbook got a whopping 8 hours and 33 minutes of battery life - in real-time!! They claimed 9.5-hours, so this isn't bad. I've been waiting for the first netbook to break 8 hours and it's finally here. The Toshiba NB205 comes with fairly regular netbook specs: a 10-inch display, Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU, a 160GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, and it's running Windows XP. The other feature that attracts me is the chiclet keyboard.

If this was the first week of September, I would definitely go out and get one of these netbooks. But, I'm sure by then, we'll have a better netbook for me to go out and buy. Technology just evolves that fast. Let's hope that this starts a wave of netbooks with better battery life.
