The "out-of-the-browser capabilities" are said to compete with Adobe AIR, but we'll just have to see about that.

HTC Hero Running "Rosie" UI; Promo Video Leaked!

Labels: , , , ,

This is interesting. The latest leaks from HTC has shown off the HTC Hero in a promo video (below). The one thing that stood out to me in the video was that the accelerometer was able to rotate the picture, even when the phone was upside down. I actually had to watch it twice to make sure that my eyes didn't deceive me. Anyways, enjoy the video below sporting the red HTC Hero - that gets accompanied by 6 other colours at the end.

Another thing also visible is the chin of the phone, which is stupid. A while ago, we heard that the chin was implemented to make the trackball more visible, but clearly that was BS, since the Hero does not have a trackball. They just want to stand out - that's all it is.

Alienware's Allpowerful Laptop Gets Unveiled; Dubbed the M17x and Packs 2 Nvidia GTX 280M GPUs

Labels: , , ,

Even though the countdown is still taking place, the upcoming Alienware "Allpowerful" laptop has already been unveiled. It is the M71x and it is the ultimate gaming laptop of all time. I'm going to run through the specs, briefly, but they are amazing. The Alienware M71x has: 2 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M GPUs, up to 8GB of 1,333MHz DDR3 RAM, a Core 2 Extreme quad-core CPU, and up to 1TB of HDD storage / up to 512GB of SSD storage (definitely an expensive addition). Was that enough? Well, I'm not finished. It also has: a 9-cell battery, FireWire, 4 USB 2.0 slots, eSATA, an ExpressCard slot, 802.11n WiFi, an 8-in-1 card reader, dual-layer Blu-ray, a crisp 1,920 x 1,200 resolution (possibly 17-inches) LCD display with DisplayPort and HDMI outputs. The M71x will weigh a massive 11.68 pounds and is a solid 2.11-inches thick. Just in case you were deciding to save your battery, it also has GeForce 9400M G1 graphics with HybridPower technology as a backup. Suprisingly enough, the M71x has a base price of just $1,799 USD, which is much less than what I was expecting. Hopefully, we'll be able to see it at E3!! If I had the money, I'd definitely get one of these.

MSI Announces Gaming GT729 and Multimedia EX723 Laptops

Labels: , ,

Here's 2 more laptops from MSI, so who doesn't love this excitement. The GT729 is a gaming laptop and it comes with: a 17-inch display, 3GB of RAM, Intel's Core 2 Duo CPU, WiFi, ATI's 1GB Mobility Radeon HD 4850 graphics, a 2MP webcam, optional Bluetooth, VGA / HDMI output, 3 USB 2.0 slots, a 4-in-1 card reader, audio in / out, an ExpressCard slot, up to 500GB of HDD storage, a Blu-ray drive, and your choice of either a 6 or 9-cell battery. This gaming laptop also has a 4.1 channal audio system, which means that there's a subwoofer inside of this thing.

The EX723 is for multimedia people and it basically has the same specs as the above GT729 - except for in a couple of places. The graphics on the EX723 is a GeForce G110M and it only has up to 320GB of storage. It is also sporting a 17-inch display, but it looks like it doesn't have the same 16:9 aspect ratio that the MSI GT729 appears to have.

So far, there has been no word of a price or a release date for these 2 laptops.

Sprint Could Remove the $100 Mail-In Rebate, Making the Pre a Solid $200

Labels: , , , ,

Latest rumour has it that, just days before launch, Sprint is considering removing that oh so horrible $100 USD mail-in rebate on the Palm Pre. This is probably due to the fact that Best Buy and Radio Shack are selling their 4 devices at a solid $200 price tag. It's either that or they're just fed up with everyone complaining about the expensive price. All in all, it looks like they may have given in, but it's still just a rumour. We'll find out in about a week.
