Tessera Unveils New Ionic-Cooling System For Laptops

Labels: ,

A company called Tessera is working on a new system to cool down laptops, that is called ionic-cooling. According to Tessera and the University of Washington, the new cooling system offers 30% more cooling than traditional fans. This cooling system also uses only half the power and has no moving parts, so that reduces the chance of destruction inside the laptop. I really hope that Tessera can perfect this new system because I think we need something more next-gen to keep our laps from burning. For more information about this new cooling system, check out the link below.

Panasonic Reveals TM350 and TM30 Record-Breaking Camcorders

Labels: , , ,

Panasonic has just unveiled 2 new camcorders (the HDC-TM350 and TM30) that are both "record-breaking". Some similarities between the 2 camcorders are: a 2.7-inch LCD display, USB connectivity, a microSDHC card slot, and HDMI interfaces. Now let's talk about the differences.

First up is the HDC-TM350 (above) which has 64GB of internal memory and Panasonic is claiming that this device is the "world's largest capacity full HD camcorder." Other features, include: a 10.6MP CMOS sensor, 12x zoom, and 5.1-channel sound support. The TM350 will hit Japan on June 25 for $1,500 USD.

Next up is the TM30 (above) that has a 32GB HDD and Panasonic "claims that with a weight of 227g, the TM30 is the lightest camcorder of its kind in the industry", which is also record-breaking. The TM30 also has a 2.1MP CMOS sensor, 16x zoom, and 2-channel sound support. The TM30 will also hit Japan on June 25, but it'll have a lower $1,000 USD price tag.

Panasonic has now announced if the camcorders will be available anywhere else, but hopefully it will be in the future.

Sony's BDP-CX7000ES Blu-ray Mega Changer Coming Soon; Holds 400 Discs

Labels: , , ,

According to the latest rumours, Sony's BDP-CX7000ES Blu-ray Mega Changer will be available soon. It's been around for a while, but no one knew when or if it was ever going to be released... until today, that is. According to Sony Insider, this machine is coming soon.

I don't who has 400 Blu-ray discs in their possession, but if they do, they can pack it all into this giant machine. This monster costs - a wallet-emptying - $2,300 USD, but that could change when it actually gets launched.

LG BD390 Blu-ray Player Now Available For $400

Labels: , , ,

I'm just a little bit late on this news, but LG has announced that their BD390 Blu-ray player is now available. This player has been available since Tuesday, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. This player has some pretty nice features, including 1GB of on-board storage, WiFi, Blu-ray Profile 2.0, and is capable of streaming from YouTube and Netflix. This player is also capable of playing full 1080p HD quality DivX videos from DVD or USB drives, so that's also a good thing.

"As far as audio goes, this player has DTS HD Master Audio surround and 7.1-channel Dolby TrueHD. Plus, there's HDMI-CEC support so you can watch TV through the player as well." You can get this Blu-ray player now for around $400 USD.

Labels:

Here is the latest images of the BlackBerry Curve 8530 "Aries". This 8530 is a CDMA version of the Curve 8520 "Gemini" that we saw earlier this month. The 8520 and 8530 have the same specs, that includes: a 2MP camera, same QVGA display, a microSD slot, rubberized body, and the optical trackpad. I don't know if this is going to be released on T-Mobile as well, but we'll just have to see in the future. Take a look at the link below for more pictures.

Microsoft Dropping 3 App Limit From Windows 7 Starter Edition; Outline of Windows 7's Max Netbook Specs

Labels: , ,

If you remember back in February, Microsoft outlined the 6 different versions of Windows 7. Windows 7 Starter Edition was said to only be capable of running 3 separate applications at once, which is kind of sad. According to the latest news though, Microsoft could drop the 3 app limit from Windows 7 Starter Edition, which is definitely a good thing. This will probably only affect those "emerging markets".

Microsoft has just outlined the maximum specs on "small notebooks" aka netbooks running Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic. They're actually pretty bad, but it shouldn't affect most people because Microsoft has said that most OEMs will ignore the max specs to ship Windows 7 Home Premium instead. Take a look at the specs in the chart above.

PSN Getting Music Downloads For The PSP

Labels: , , ,

According to CNet, Sony is pushing to put music of some "big recording labels" onto the PSN for download - mainly for the PSP. Clearly, this is another attempt at luring Apple's crowd with their iPod Touch + iTunes combination. With the release of the PSP Go! possibly on the way (with its digital-ness and all), this rumour could come true in the near future. We'll just have to see what happens in the future.

Dell Mini 10 Gets TV Tuner Option

Labels: ,

Dell has just revealed a new option for the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook, which isn't all that shocking, since they've done this before (here and here). The Mini 10 (Mini 10v not included at this point) now has the option for an internal TV tuner. Gizmodo points out that the tuner costs $50 USD extra, but on the official Dell website it says that it's only a $20 addition. Check it out for yourselves here.

Microsoft Will Release The Prices For Windows 7 Sometime In June; Said To Be Expensive

Labels: , ,

Surprising? No, I don't think so. Clearly for Microsoft, them making a good OS costs a lot of money for its consumers to use - thankfully there are torrents. Apparently, there are claims that Windows 7's official pricing will be revealed by Microsoft in June - more specficically mid-June. A lot of people are saying that it will be expensive - more so than both XP and Vista. I don't really care, I just hope I can find a good crack on the torrents when it's available.

Android "Cupcake" Now Expected To Start Rolling Out Next Tuesday

Labels: , ,

T-Mobile, make up your mind already! I don't even know if there's a point to me talking about this after so many date shifts, but I might as well, since I love Android. In short, Cupcake is expected to start rolling out to G1 owners this coming Tuesday and is expected to hit all users by "early June." We'll see what happens this time....

32GB iPhone Shows Up On T-Mobile Austria's Website; Gets Pulled Shortly After

Labels: , , , , ,

Yesterday, a bunch of people spotted a new listing on T-Mobile Austria's site that a 32GB iPhone was in the "Coming Soon" page. It left a couple of people shocked, but probably a little bit happy too. There were no pictures or any other details revealed about the supposed iPhone, but a lot of people are expecting the iPhone to be announced at WWDC on June 8th. We've already heard a bunch of rumoured specs about the next iPhone, so I'll let you check them out for yourself. Just in case you're going to browse the T-Mobile Austria website, I should probably inform you that the listing has been removed already.

Sharp Aquos DX 20-Inch LCD TV Packs Blu-ray But No 1080p; What's The Point?

Labels: , , ,

This is just about the dumbest thing I've seen in a while that will probably still manage to pull some buyers. Sharp has just released their latest Aquos DX LCD HDTV and it's a 20-inch model with a built-in Blu-ray player. Yes, it is the world's first TV with a built-in Blu-ray player, but this TV is lacking the features for you to see full 1080p HD quality. The resolution of the TV is only 1,366 x 768, so Blu-ray movies won't even be in Full HD quality, which is lame, so that's kind of shocking that they'd do that.

Along with being 1080p-less, this TV also has: a digital TV tuner, DVD support, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, and 400 nits of brightness. There will be a black and white model to suit your needs. This Aquos DX will hit Japan for ¥150,000 ($1,593 USD) at the end of June. I think it's too overpriced, especially with 1080p being absent.

Onkyo Sotec DC204A3 Netbook Packs A 32GB SSD

Labels: , , ,

Onkyo's latest netbook, the Sotec DC204A3, is putting a semi-twist on the netbook world. The DC204A3 has: a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, Intel's Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, 945GSE graphics, WiFi, an integrated webcam, and 1GB of RAM. The semi-twist here is that it will have a 32GB SSD on-board, but it will not have a VGA output or an Ethernet port. This netbook will be available in Japan as early as the end of this month for ¥49,800 ($529 USD).

Just in case you still want the VGA output and the Ethernet port, there is an available adapter for the netbook that will be an external box, that is pictured below. I'm not sure if it comes in the box with the netbook, so I'm sorry for that.

According to Gamestop, the supposed release date for Assassin's Creed 2 will be this November. This confirms last month's news - that Assassin's Creed 2 will be available before Christmas holidays. I hope that this expected release date is true, because I'm hoping to get a PS3 by then.

MSI Wind U115 Now Available In Japan and the UK

Labels: , ,

If you remember back in January, we heard that the MSI Wind U115 will be capable of running an SSD and an HDD at the same time using a new hybrid storage technology. The Wind U115 has: a 10-inch display, Intel's Atom Z530 CPU, a 6-cell battery, and 720p video playback to cap it off. It is now shipping for £450 - £500 ($675 USD - $750 USD) in the UK, but it is also available in Japan. Apparently, the Wind U115 is the netbook with one of the longest lasting batteries out there, according to MadShrimps. I hope we can get a double check on that though.

Rogers Reveals Upcoming Handsets; HTC Dream and Magic For $199, iPhone Also Listed

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Rogers has just unveiled some of their future handsets and it's a pretty good line-up. Take a look at it below, courtesy of Boy Genius.

  • LG Rumor 2 (Solo Mobile) — ETA: May 25th, outright: $160.00, 2-year contract: $75.00

  • Sony Ericsson C905 — ETA: May 19th (delayed), outright: $449.99, 3-year contract: $249.99 ($299.99 without Rogers Vision)

  • HTC Dream — ETA: June 2nd (limited quantity, availability will increase by June 12th), outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99

  • HTC Magic — ETA: June 2nd, outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99

  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 — ETA: June 30th (barring additional delays), outright: TBD ($649 - $749), 3-year: $299.99 (will launch at $249.99)

  • iPhone — ETA: unknown (July/August), outright: not allowed, 3-year: TBD

  • As you can see, the HTC Dream and Magic are going to be available for as low as $199 on a 3-year contract. What's surprising is that 2 days ago, we heard that Rogers would sell the HTC Dream and Magic for $549 off-contract, but it looks like the price has shot up to $649. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will also be making its debut as one of the most expensive handsets to launch on Rogers in a while. The one that should create the most buzz is Rogers' listing of the next iPhone pegged for a July / August release. The pricing is still TBD, but it's still interesting news.

    New Windows 7 Logo?

    Labels: , ,

This is an official Microsoft graphic and it could be the new logo for Windows 7. To be honest, I don't really care if Microsoft changes their logo, but I figured someone out there would. Crunch Gear points out that "it's still a butt-ugly logo", but I don't think it's that bad. Although, I'm just referring to the actual "7" symbol and not the wallpaper as a whole, which is just too plain for my liking.

Anyways, yeah, just thought I'd mention that. As long as Microsoft doesn't screw up the Windows 7 OS, I could care less whether they decide to change the logo or not.
