Asus Announces Full Specs Of Their Eee PC 1005HA Netbook

Labels: , , , , , ,

Asus is continuing to expand their "Seashell" netbook line-up and they are going to follow up with the Eee PC 1005HA. Asus has just announced a full spec sheet for these netbooks, so that's always a good thing. The Eee PC 1005HA has: a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 160GB HDD, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, VGA output, 3 USB 2.0 slots, Ethernet, a multicard reader, and audio in / out. The netbook will also come with your choice of the N270 or the N280 Atom CPU, a 0.3 or a 1.3MP webcam, and it also has a battery long enough to last 10.5 hours - or so they say. Pretty much the same specs as every other netbook, so there's no major difference.

I'm curious to know how long the battery will last in real-time tests though because I'm still looking for that netbook with 8 hours of life. Anyways, the 1005HA will apparently come in a couple of colours, like black, pink, white, and blue. The price and release date has not been mentioned, so I'll get that for you at a later date.

Microsoft MyPhone Beta Now Available For Windows Mobile 6+ Users

Labels: , , ,

Microsoft's MyPhone beta is now available to all Windows Mobile 6+ users. It is "a sync solution that backs up your info and keeps your appointments and contacts synced with a web app." Microsoft is also giving all of its users 200MB of free storage, which is enough for your e-mails, contacts, and calendar events. You can "Get Started" here if you're a WinMo user.

On a side note, don't get this mixed up with the HTC Magic which could be launching in the US as the MyPhone 3G. It shouldn't be all that confusing though, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Samsung i8910 HD Hits the UK, Thanks to Orange

Labels: , , , , , ,

The phone that was once the Samsung OmniaHD has just launched on Orange UK. The Samsung i8910 HD codenamed "Acme" is pretty dynamite. It has: a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen capacitive display with a 640 x 360 resolution, an 8MP camera, HSUPA connectivity, and will run on S60 with a bit of Samsung's own TouchWiz 3D UI. Surprisingly enough, this phone has launched for just £97.50 ($151 USD) with a £35 monthly plan. I say that it's surprising because it seems like such a low price for this amazing phone.

This handset would definitely be at the top my list if it had a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This handset, in my opinion, is in the running for one of the best full touchscreen phones of 2009. Put the Viewty Smart up there also.

Microsoft's Kumo Search Engine to Launch Next Week

Labels: , ,

According to a couple of reports, Microsoft will launch their new search engine, Kumo, next week at the D: All Things Digital technology conference. Apparently, "Kumo" is still not a finalized name for their new search engine, but they do have to do something drastic to catch up with the likes of Google, Yahoo, and possibly also the recently launched Wolfram Alpha. This is not confirmed, but it does come before the expected June 2nd release date of Kumo we heard a couple of months ago. We'll see what happens next week, but I'll be sure to give it a try whenever it's available.

Palm Pre Launching $549 Off-Contract, Costs $200 at Best Buy and Radio Shack

Labels: , , , , ,

We already know that Palm's first WebOS smartphone will cost $200 on June 6, thanks to a $100 mail-in rebate from Sprint. It looks like the Palm Pre will also launch for $549 USD off-contract from Sprint as well. Keep in mind that this doesn't mean that it's unlocked, so you're still going to be locked on Sprint's network.

More pricing news. Best Buy and Radio Shack have confirmed that they will also sell the Palm Pre for $200 USD on a 2-year contract. The good thing here is that there will be no $100 mail-in rebate, so it looks like you might as well make your way over to Best Buy or Radio Shack to get your very own Pre. "A PR rep for the company [Best Buy] has confirmed that the Pre's $100 rebate, originally announced as a mail-in affair, will be instantly deducted at the register in Best Buy stores." Radio Shack has also confirmed this, so get your Pre's from these 2 places, if you want to save a little bit of money right now.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 Hitting AT&T This Friday For $200

Labels: , ,

AT&T will be launching the BlackBerry Curve 8900 this Friday, the 22nd of May. Unfortunately, the Curve 8900 will not have 3G, so that's a disappointment. The good thing is that it will be cheaper than the Bold, since it will be $199 USD on a 2-year contract when it launches. So, this Friday for $199, don't forget.

T-Mobile's Last Android Device To Be Motorola's "Morrison"

Labels: , , , ,

According to this T-Mobile roadmap, Motorola's "Morrison" will be the last Android device that they release this year - scheduled for a holiday release. I'm excited for any phone running Android, so it looks like this could be another one to look forward to. Then again, a lot of other Android devices are expected before the "Morrison" so Motorola's going to have to make this device stand out somehow. Although, I do like the looks of it, since I can see a QWERTY keyboard and that's probably a touchscreen as well. On a side note, where's that Motorola "Calgary"?

Netbooks Running Symbian OS Could Be On The Market Soon

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to Symbian Foundation's new leader, Tim Holbrow, we will see netbooks running the Symbian OS soon. He also went on to mention that they can already run on netbooks, and he also thinks that we will see them on the market.

This is very interesting, since Google seems to be doing the same thing with their Android OS. I just hope that every smartphone OS doesn't jump into the netbook market because it could make things a lot harder to pick and choose a netbook with so many different options. We'll see what happens in the future, Symbian OS vs Android?

Pentax K-7 DSLR Priced at $1,300

Labels: , , ,

Switched has just wrote a quite lengthy post about the new Pentax K-7 DSLR. They point out that it's actually a really good camera for the price. It's retailing for only $1,300 USD. The K-7 weighs in at just 27 ounces and also has a new image stabilization system, which will correct the image even if you rotate the camera clockwise.

The K-7 also features HDR (High-Dynamic Range). "In the HDR mode, you take three photos at different exposure settings-optimized for the darkest, lightest and mid-range parts of the scene-and the camera combines the three images into a single photo that shows more detail in the light and dark parts."

Like I've mentioned before the Pentax K-7 records video in 720p HD format and also records audio using a built-in mic or "an external unit plugged into a jack."

For the prices on the different lenses check out the link below.
