First Pictures Of The BlackBerry Storm 2 Emerge

Labels: , ,

In all honesty, it does look like an improvement from the first Storm, but that's pointing out the obvious. The 4 buttons located at the bottom of the phone look less cheap, since they are not separated into 4 tiny buttons. The screen looks a bit larger with a slightly better resolution, but that's just what I think. The back shot of the Storm 2 below, outlines that the it will have a 3.2MP camera. PC Vs Mac Ad V: Lauren and Sue Choose A Dell

Labels: , , , ,

The latest ad from Microsoft continues the Best Buy strolling. These ads are actually getting quite repetitive. Anyways, this latest ad from Microsoft involved getting a Dell laptop over a $2,000 MacBook. I don't know what model the Dell laptop was, but I'll probably have that for you later. You can take a look at the ad below. I have to admit that Apple's ads are better, but they're still definitely not worth the price.

ViewSonic To Launch Their Own 3G Smartphone

Labels: ,

ViewSonic has just shocked the world with their latest announcement. Apparently, ViewSonic has plans to release their own 3G smartphone. They are going to release this smartphone in China first, following with Europe and America. As of right now, there are no details on the phone, but I bet that it'll be delayed just like Garmin-Asus' attempts at their own smartphone. We'll see what happens in the future.

Gigabyte "Peggy Cove" Notebook Running On Intel's Montevina

Labels: , , ,

I have no clue why Gigabyte chose this "Peggy Cove" codename, but they're the experts here, not me. The Peggy Cove notebook will supposedly have: a 13.3-inch display, Intel's Montevina CPU, WiMAX, 3G, and WiFi. "This notebook is apparently a part of the Intel Blanca program and though we don't have too many details, this does seem a likely rumor." We'll see what happens in the future, although the circular trackpad really caught me off guard here.

Nokia Could Use Synaptics Capacitive Touchscreens In Future Smartphones

Labels: , , , ,

If this is true, this would be extremely great news for future Nokia touchscreen devices. Nokia is often criticized for using resistive touchscreens on both the 5800 and the N97, but it looks like the future will turn out much sweeter for some consumers. Rumour has it that Nokia could use Synaptics capacitive touchscreen technology in their future handsets. We could see this technology implemented as soon as Q3 of this year, so it's not too far away. "The first Nokia device to use a capacitive touchscreen are described as a 'high end handset and smartphone'." I hope that they use this in the Nokia N97, but that's just my wishful thinking - because it won't happen. I think that it could be implemented in those spinoff N97 devices, since it would be a good start. Looks like I will hold off from buying a phone until these devices are available. By the way, the above photo is just a concept photo made by Fabien Nauroy.

The MSI X-Slim X400 made its unofficial debut a couple of days ago, but now everything is official. MSI has just announced their new X-Slim models. Both the X400 and the X600 will: have LED-backlit displays (14 and 15-inches, respectively), have a 16:9 aspect ratio, and measure in at under 1-inch thick. The differences are minimal between the two laptops. The X-Slim X400 will be sporting Intel's GMA 4500MHD chipset, and will have an 8-cell battery option. The X-Slim X600, on the other hand, will have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics, an HDMI output, and a 9-cell battery option.

The pricing still hasn't been mentioned, but they could be in the $1,100 USD price range. As a bonus, here's what MSI had to say, thanks to Slash Gear.

MSI Marks a New Era of Slim, Thin, and Light Notebooks With Its Latest X-Slim Series
MSI Takes the Lead to Introduce Ultrathin Notebooks With Intel’s CULV
TAIPEI, Taiwan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MSI today announced that it has successfully reaffirmed its leading position by introducing a series of X-Slim laptops of various sizes. Following the success of the trend setter X-Slim X340, MSI plans to unveil the 14” X-Slim X400 and the 15” X-Slim X600 in the second quarter of 2009.
The X-Slim X600 and X400 have set records for lightness and thinness in their size categories. The 14” X-Slim X400, which comes with a super slender Li-poly battery, weighs only 1.5kg, and the 15” X-Slim X600 tips the scales at just 2.1kg with battery. Less than one inch thick, both models boast 16:9 theater-class LED screens, full I/O ports, and Blu-Ray support. The X600 also comes equipped with a discrete graphic card to maximize visual performance.
The X-Slim X340, with Intel® Core™2 Solo ULV Processor, offers super long battery life with MSI’s proprietary ECO Engine and weighs less than 1.3kg with 4 cell battery. X340 not only provides superior functionality to end users, but also triggers another trend in the ultra slim notebook sector.
MSI’s latest X-Slim series notebook features an optional 8 cell Long-endurance battery for X340 and X400 and an optional 9 cell Long-endurance battery for X600. To catch with the current market trend, all X-Slim series notebooks adopt external ODD drivers, which further enhances the slim, thin and light characters of X-Slim series.
“I believe MSI’s latest X-Slim Series is a complete line of products designed to set new industry standards and the introduction of the X-Slim Series will further strengthens our position in the notebook market and helps us reach a new development milestone,” said Mr. Joseph Hsu, Chief Executive Officer of MSI.

Asus Eee Keyboard PC To Be On Sale By The End Of June

Labels: , , ,

We've seen it before (here and here), so it's nothing entirely new. Asus has just announced that the Eee keyboard PC will be on sale by the end of June. It's not that much of a wait, so don't stress out. Anyways, the Eee keyboard PC will have: Intel's Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, a 5-inch display on the right side with an 800 x 480 resolution, a 32GB SSD, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI out, stereo speakers, a mic, and will be running Windows XP.

The first time I saw this keyboard PC, I questioned the 5-inch display because it was on the right side. I figured it'd be better to have the display in the center, kind of like how Logitech's gaming keyboards are. But, since the touchscreen will also act as a trackpad, it's starting to make more sense to me.

This keyboard PC will only weigh around 2 pounds, so it's not heavy at all. The price still hasn't been mentioned, but it could be a bit expensive because of the 32GB SSD.

Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 Ships With 512GB SSD

Labels: , ,

I'm warning you now that this laptop is extremely expensive. The Dynabook SS RX2 is a pretty good laptop. It's got a Core 2 Duo SU9400 CPU, a supposed 12-hour battery life, and weighs just 2.5 pounds while managing to be just 19.5 - 25.5mm thick. But wait, Toshiba has a surprise for you. They have packed this baby with a 512GB SSD. A couple of weeks ago, Toshiba updated this same laptop and equipped a 128GB SSD and had it available in Japan for a whopping $2,840 USD. You can only imagine how much this sucker will cost.

Suprisingly enough, the US version of the RX2, the Portege R600-ST4203, costs just $2,999 USD even with the 512GB SSD. This is very shocking seeing how the SSD is also $1,500 USD alone. The bottom line is that it is still mighty expensive. $3,000 USD for a laptop, you've got to be kidding. Take a look at it here, buy yours today - if you can.

More PS3 Slim Leaks, Include Photos; Could They Be Real?

Labels: , , , , ,

Yesterday, we heard a rumour about a PS3 Slim that could be announced at E3. Well, the rumours continue after a couple of pictures have been spotted floating around on the Internet. I guess one of the workers on an assembly - or something - snapped these photos of the supposed PS3 Slim that looks to be already in development. Above is the supposed box for the PS3 Slim and if you go to the link below you will find pictures of the PS3 Slim at a manufacturer's plant. I think these images are fake, but there has been no confirmation yet.

LG Viewty Smart Laucnhing At The End Of May; Also Confirm A 12MP Cameraphone By Year's End

Labels: , , ,

This is some big news from LG. They have just announced that the LG Viewty Smart will be available by the end of the month, exclusively at Orange stores. This upsets us over here in North America, but we'll just have to wait for our turn. The Viewty Smart is said to be the thinnest 8MP cameraphone, since it is only 12.4mm thick. It also weighs just 102 grams and is rocking LG's new 3D S-Class UI. No word on the pricing, so I'll have that for you at a later date.

LG has also gone out on a limb to mention that they will launch a 12MP cameraphone later this year. Nothing else is known about the device, but I can't wait for a side-by-side comparison of LG's 12MP smartphone and Sony Ericsson's Idou.
