BlackBerry Driftwood Hitting T-Mobile This September; More Specs Revealed

Labels: , , , ,

This is the BlackBerry Driftwood and it is said to be part of the BlackBerry 96xx-Series. Apparently, one of the sources called this the Onyx, but the Onyx is set for an AT&T release and doesn't have UMA support. The Driftwood's specs have also surfaced a bit, so that's some good news. The Driftwood will have a 3.2MP camera with autofocus, GPS, WiFi (supposedly with UMA support), a 480 x 360 resolution, an optical trackpad, and a carbon-fiber back. The BlackBerry Driftwood is also expected to hit T-Mobile this September, so we're just looking for confirmation. It looks quite sexy, but I still favour the Niagara / Tour.

Dell ST2010 20-inch LCD Monitor With HDMI For Just $120

Labels: ,

This is something I'd get, if I knew I was getting a new PC soon - for Starcraft 2. Anyways, the Dell ST2010 is a decent monitor for the price tag. It is now available in Hong Kong for just HK$1,098 ($120 - $130 USD) and will make its way to North America soon. For just $120 USD, this monitor has: HDMI / VGA inputs, a 1,600 x 900 resolution, 5ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits of brightness, and also a 160-degree viewing angle. This is definitely something I'd get, since it has a cheap price tag, a decent spec sheet, and looks pretty nice as well. Look out for it soon!

Garmin-Asus Nuviphone G60 Delayed Again; This Time Q3

Labels: , , , ,

Garmin-Asus' first entry into the smartphone world hasn't been too pleasant so far. Engadget points out that the Nuvifone G60 was announced in January 2008 and was expected to be released in Q3 of that year. Last month, we heard that Garmin-Asus pushed the release date back to June, but now they have just announced further delays. They are now expecting to release this smartphone in Q3 of this year. That comes out to a grand total of 12 months of delay for the Nuvifone G60 aka the GPS with phone capabilities. If the smartphone ever gets released, it will run on a customized Linux OS and will be "heavy on GPS integration." By the way, this probably means that the Nuvifone M20 will also be delayed.

T-Mobile G1 v2 Bigfoot Made By Samsung Not Motorola Or HTC

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Remember the T-Mobile G1 v2 aka Bigfoot aka Morrison that was on the leaked T-Mobile roadmap? Well, this morning, rumours were out that it was going to be made by Motorola and will be, in fact, their first Android handset. Well, now it looks like the T-Mobile G1 v2 may actually be made by Samsung. Motorola is still working on that Calgary and Samsung's still working on that I7500 (video here), but this picture does look a lot more like the phone that it is seen in T-Mobile's roadmap. So, it looks like Samsung has 2 Android handsets for this year and Motorola, so far, still has their 1 handset. As you can see below, this chart outlines three Samsung handsets running Android: the I7500, Bigfoot, and a new handset codenamed Spica. The Bigfoot and Spica have similar specs and are expected to ship in Q3 of this year. Apparently, they will also be pre-loaded with the "Donut" version of Android, which is supposedly version 2.0. Gotta love rumours.

HP Mini 1151 Netbook Hitting Verizon On May 17; MiFi Too!

Labels: , ,

Verizon has just confirmed that the first netbook they will release will be the HP Mini 1151NR, which apparently is the same as the HP Mini 1000. It will be available on May 17 and the supposed price will be $199 USD on a 2-year contract "after MIR" - I don't know what that means. There will be a monthly fee, but it's unknown how much the monthly fee will be. Some people are guessing a $40 or $60 fee, which would make the netbook a bit too overpriced ($960 - $1,440). On May 17 Verizon is also launching MiFi, which is another way to access the Internet.

Is The Nokia XpressMusic 5900 Leak A Fake?

Labels: ,

That's what Slash Gear thinks. A couple of days ago, a leaked picture of the Nokia XpressMusic 5900 leaked out onto the Internet, but some people out there think that it is bogus. Apparently, Kunal from Tech Ticker has spotted a couple of odd things about this picture of the supposed XpressMusic 5900. A couple of things wrong with this picture are: "TFLASH" written on the memory card slot (since Nokia doesn't use that), an absence of flash on the camera, no Carl Zeiss lens, no 3G, and no front video camera. It's up to you to decide whether this is the real thing, but I guess we'll just have to wait a couple of days / weeks / months for another leak or a confirmation from Nokia.
