Snow Day!!, Motorola, PS3 Slim?

Labels: , ,

So, last night [or this morning], i ended up sleeping at around 4:15. I was pretty psyched about having a possible snow day today, but it never happened =(. Anyways, my mom yelled at me to get up in the morning, but that didn't work. She was waking me up because she was afraid that her car wouldn't make it out of the garage, due to the amount of snow. She's always paranoid of it happening now because it happened twice last year. But anyways, after i told my girlfriend i was going to get up and shower, i went back to sleep =D. Finally, i woke up at 9:00 a.m. and said [to myself] that i can still make it to school for lunch and Chemistry. So, it was time for me to start getting ready. I showered, changed and was out of the door by 9:37. My bus was at 9:45 so i was pretty early. I took about 21 steps outside and thought to myself... was there even a point of going to school today? I came to the conclusion that, no, it wasn't worth it. Some factors of this were: Religion and Advanced Function; already missed it, Lunch; doing nothing, Chemistry; doing review [pretty much nothing], having to walk fast in the snow to catch my bus (on the way home) and not being able to see my girlfriend after school since she has an exam. So, i promised myself that i would do my Advanced Functions homework and study hard for my Chemistry test, which is tomorrow. One more day and i'm home free. Luckily, for my girlfriend, her home free-ness starts in about 5 hours from now. Anyways, i dropped my bag off at home and i decided to shovel my driveway. I finished in about 11 minutes and went back inside. That's where i currently am now, sitting in my comfy chair and not outside in the cold weather, phew.

If you look above and to the left, you will notice 2 possible phones that Motorola may be coming out with in 2009. In my opinion, the above one looks pretty sleek. Let's hope that it's not all just looks for the phone though. I think they should pack a 3.2 megapixel or a 5 megapixel camera on both of these phones. But, they should also be sure to not drive the price tag up too high. It is rumoured to be released under Verizon Wireless next year. These phones do have nice concept designs, let's hope it's a reality. I have read about Motorola being on the verge of bankruptcy, which i thought was shocking because of the RAZR trend a couple years ago. Let's hope Motorola can pull out of their little slump and stick their heads out of this recession now.

Rumours, gotta love [or hate] them. So, is there a Playstation 3 slim in the works? The author of this article thinks so. He says, "According to this mysterious, mystical source ... Sony have already started work on a slimline PS3." This 'source' mentions that "The parts are already designed and ready to be manufactured, the console will be out as early as Easter 2009 and that it will retail for around $300." This is very interesting, but the source isn't too reliable, since he is "mystical" and unknown. The author also states that it may be too early for a PS3 slim, since Sony released the PS2 slim, 4 years after the original PS2's launch. The PS3, to this day, has only been out for just over 2 years. I think that this would be great though because PS3 slim = possible PS3 price drop. If this is true, i hope that the PS3 doesn't count out a huge chunk of their functionality. Someone in the comments (ChrisWanker), jokingly, mentioned that there will be "No HD, No Wi-Fi, No USB Ports, No B/C, No Blu-ray movie capability, yet still plays Blu-ray games (just for spite!)." I thought that was hillarious, especially the last bit about the Blu-ray capability. I think that Sony should really think about making that slim quickly though, since they are losing quite a huge amount of money on every PS3 original that they are selling.

WoW, Square Enix, PSP 2, Facebook

I have some important WoW news. Today's PvP'ing went much better than last night's PvP'ing. Although, i did lose an Arathi Basin 2000-0 tonight, i actually got the hang of the Death Knight. So, last night i let out my frustrations by making a quick post about how WoW fails. I gotta give credits to those at Blizzard though, they did make one heck of a game. This is clearly evident in the 11 million players worldwide. Anyways, my PvP experience today was much better than last night. I took Dan's advice and i decided to actually use cooldowns today and it worked out. I realized this when i beat another DK 1v1 in the middle, for the flag in EoTS (Eye of the Storm). I just simply outplayed him. That's when i realized that, hey, i'm not that bad. I still got the occasional gang rape, as was expected, but it's okay. I played much better today. I got used to my keybinds and got more familiar with all of the Death Knight's moves and it was a pretty good day. I'll be back on WoW after this post.

Some news about Square Enix. The makers of the popular Final Fantasy series, are set to announce the release of a new MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) at E3 in 2009. An MMO is basically, World of Warcraft. I'm pretty sure they're the most addicting type of games that are out. I really hope this does not turn out to be a major flop like Final Fantasy 11. Square Enix's last attempt at the MMO world wasn't all too successful. I actually played Final Fantasy 11... It was really stupid. I played Final Fantasy 11, before i played WoW, but it was just terrible. Just a waste of 150 bucks (Game + HDD + 3 monthly payments). I can't picture people playing an MMO on the console, it just doesn't seem right. But, Square Enix might have taken a step in the right direction. Word is, that this new MMO, named Rapture, will be coming out on the PS3, Xbox 360 AND the PC. This may be what gamers are looking for, but will it already be too late? I believe E3 is in March and by then, i hope that Blizzard finally announces what kind of MMO they are currently working on. My bet is on Blizzard coming out on top, since they are the kings of MMO's (Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo). But, i still have to give props to Square Enix for trying. I love you Square Enix, please release Final Fantasy 13 soon.

This next post was actually supposed to be in my first blog, earlier today, but i completely forgot about it. The PSP 2 (concept picture, to the left?) and the PSP-4000. Although, Sony has denied both of them as being just rumours, that doesn't stop the public from releasing more and more news about it. Rumour has it that the PSP-4000 will be coming out sometime in 2009 and that the PSP 2 will be following soon after. The PSP-4000 is, basically, PSP 1, version 4. A little over a month ago, the PSP-3000 was released, so that gives about 1 year in between PSP-3000 and PSP-4000. Don't forget that these are just rumours. People are claiming that they are already making PSP 2 games, which is interesting. Can't wait to see what other kind of news we'll be hearing about the PSP, but be on the lookout.

Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. It definitely grows fast [That's what she said]. But seriously, there are 300,000 - 400,000 new users, everyday. But, lately it's actually been increased to about 600,000 - 700,000 users everyday. By March, Facebook may even hit the 200 million user mark, which is incredible. Taking a look at this graph (below), shows how many users are on Facebook and it's growth is just overwhelming. Hopefully, it doesn't turn out to be the next Myspace, which has died up here in Canada.
